i didn't think they were that strange, just... not exactly all that flattering. :p The men's figure skating was way, way worse - Evan Lysacek for one looked sooo much better out of that costume (what the heck were those ropey beaded areas going around it?) and with his hair not slicked back. And he was far from the worst offender. Of course, his skating was still to die for. :p

That's... surprising, to say the least.

It's probably only for one game, but it'll be interesting to see how the whole team responds.

Eh, it's not that surprising. Louongo had a much stronger showing in his game. Brodeur has been really leaky in goal for Team Canada.

Honestly, against Germany you probably can't go wrong with either goalie but we'll see if Luo can play well enough to earn the next start.

Germany's got a good defense. Dunno otherwise.

How do you figure? Ehrhoff has had a good year and Seidenberg is decent I suppose. The rest I've never heard of so unless their defence is the best kept secret in the tournament I don't think it will be good enough to stop Canada.

    And...it wasn't.

Luongo lets in his usual bad goal.

That Dutch coach better not go home.

    [image=http://i.sme.sk/cdata/7/52/5256947/bartecko-r270.jpg]

A very nasty foul by the Norwegian player Ole Kristian Tollefsen on our player Lubos Bartecko. He hit him roughly in the jaw with his elbow, Bartecko's helmet unbuckled and he fell down, hitting the ice with the back of his head. An ugly-looking pool of blood quickly spread. The Norwegian got a punishment of 5 minutes plus until the end of the game, the ****ing unsportsmanlike son of a *****. [face_plain]

Luckily, Bartecko will be fine, it's just a cut on his head, no serious concussion or anything.

We won 4:3, by the way, but it was a tenuous journey, our guys played catastrophically in the second period, allowing the Norwegians to even out to 3:3 (after we were winning 3:1). Luckily we shot the fourth goal in the third period.

Tonight's it's the men's cross country relay. Sweden has a good team, but also a loooooong history of underachieving in the relay. It's going to be like sitting on needles to watch it tonight. The relay and the 50 kilometre race are usually considred the most prestigious cross country events.

And the extra curling game between the UK and Sweden is quite exciting, the Scots have been pretty unlucky so far. A couple of very close misses, but of course that's good for Sweden.

The hockey game was tape-delayed here. It didn't end until just now. [face_plain]

Now, cue the Swiss cheese/Swiss defense jokes...

I watched the curling until it was time for the FSU game :p

Grimby, it must not have been tape delayed very much, then. Half-hour delay maybe?

It was tape delayed here too. Kinda annoying when you check espn's website and they have the score right after the game came on tv.

The radio station I frequently listen to aired the game (I don't think it was on a delay, but I could be wrong - certainly, it matched the time it aired on TV here). So I listened to it while driving home from work and then turned the TV on to watch the last couple minutes.

Ok, I really don't like the short track relay. Too many handoffs, its almost more about handing off than about the actual skating.

And speaking of short track relay, the US got a kinda cheap bronze after South Korea was disqualified for a bump late in the race. The US team wasn't even close to the others.

Czech Republic = pwned too! With freakin' FINLAND!! OMG!!!

Slovakia is now the only Slavic team that could still move to semifinals - it's now still 0:0 against Sweden after the first period.

    GO SLOVAKIA!!!
