ST The warhammer in Episode IX? A logical extension of the Holdo maneuver now?

    Agreed. Desperate times. Desperate measures.

What evidence is there that any of the warhammer stuff was ever shot? It wasn't on the alleged "shot list" at all.

However, what an irony it would be. The resistance having a secret weapon is a mirror to the Empire having a secret weapon in ROTJ (well and ANH and TFA too). But ironically, Leia does not use it. Interesting concept. But I don't think anything was ever shot with that idea.

Yes, it was on the shooting schedule. And found it’s way into the synopsis MSW posted.

Yes and it has nothing to do with going to lightspeed to rather impossibly take out an entire fleet in seconds except for the main ship you were actually aiming at.

From what I remember of it the concept was very workable in Star Wars.

It's quite different. A ship that specifically is designed to be able to ram other ships at high speed by targeting them as opposed to what happened in TLJ. If they would have have the Warhammer show up in TLJ and ram into First Order ships then that would have been perfectly fine as opposed to the lightspeed missle approach.

IIRC there was also some part with Hux where he has some array that sends a pulse that takes it out as well as his own TIE fighters as well as X-Wings that are in space (as opposed to the ones doing the ground attack).

MSW posted a lot of things. When it came to TFA, what he posted was certainly in the original concepts at least. But being on the schedule doesn't necessarily mean it was ever actually on film, right?

It means it was scheduled to be shot, and likely was shot.

I’ve gone back and looked at the original plot leak for TFA from Making Star Wars that was largely correct except for a few things and the Leia war hammer plot that was cut but is now likely going to be featured in IX.

    Here are some key notes:

Leia expresses pride in a new Resistance superweapon, codenamed “The Sledgehammer.” She seems to be quite militant.

Leia and Poe (with BB-8) prepare to assault the planet from space.

Queen Leia uses the Resistance superweapon, “the Sledgehammer,” to crush through Star Destroyers as if they were tinker toys. She wields an awesome power against the First Order!

Down on the planet, the General of the First Order orders the firing of “The Array,” a defensive superweapon that will take out all fighters in space around the planet. The General’s subordinates refuse to carry out his order, because the weapon would also destroy their own fleet. And so, the General fires the superweapon himself. In that moment, projectiles are fired and all the ships in space are destroyed. Every single one. The General is practical and coldhearted. He obliterates his own men in their TIE fighters to take out the Resistance ships, and secure the safety of their Catapult superweapon.

Queen Leia’s own superweapon, the Sledgehammer, is destroyed. It falls into the atmosphere of the planet and it breaks apart.

It doesn’t take much to imagine how they could repurpose key aspects of this to now take place in a new location and possibly present it as though Leia goes down with the ship the same way her dear friend Holdo did.

The warhammer would have made TFA ending so much better, just because more unique.

I hope they do repurpose it for E9.
