The Weather Thread v2.0

Wow! Those are something else.
We haven't seen a storm here like that in a long time.

 

My work has already cancelled for tomorrow. Two free snow days.

 

I hope the State does...I have a big drift in front of the garage....I should go and shovel...yea right.

 

Ya know, when I left work today, somebody was finally shoveling the sidewalk at work. He said "Have a good night"...and as I went to return the statement I noticed...

It was the head plant manager??? God, per se?

"Um...why are you shoveling the walk?"
"I'd rather do this than normal work."

 

That's management for you.
Yeah, I'm going to shovel early morning.
Not looking forward to it, but it has to be done sometime.
At some parts the snow goes to the top of the fence.
Some halfway. Some barely anything.
The last time we had a blizzard like this was in March 03.
One of my friends and I were talking about that and she remembered it.
They even closed highway 34 today! So another one of my friends didn't
have to go to work outside of Greeley! This is crazy!
But I love watching the snow.
Though I'd rather have extreme heat over cold.

 

Im now leaving for work. I have to be there in about 2 hours,but given the fact 6 hours ago we had over 2 feet unplowed on the road, I think itll take me that long. this is going to suck big time.

Aside from some freezing rain at work, no snow yet.

Local weather people are all talking about Denver tho- and the 18-38 inches recieved in various places, and that most of the city is shut down.

 

well, i didnt. i fell and grabbed for the jeep and dislocated my right shoulder. i managed to get out of the snow, call my commander, call my sister and re-locate it. jeep is still stuck, are is killing me in a sling and kaiser thinks i need to go in. Yeah, if the roads were good enough to get by on this wouldnt have happend.



oi, i need a beer.

 

And remember, that's 38 inches in less than 24 hours... Not the 4' snow banks that develop after many storms that you get in MN. We take out snow in large, fast doses. And also unlike MN, it usually melts off just as fast. In MN you know when the first big snow hit by finding that glacial newspaper when the thaw finally reaches the pavement sometime in late April

 

yeah... I'm just stuck. No gettin' out today!

 

On the news they showed how to make snow ice cream, Mags and I are gonna make it after she takes her bath!

You need a bowl of snow, 1 cup of milk, some sugar, and some vanilla.

Mix it all together and enjoy!!!!

 

Yikes, IB, That's horrible! I hope that it heals fast. Were you able to get to the hospital?

I heard on the radio this morning that DIA is grounded, and will be closed until at least 7pm tonight. The amount of snow definitely reminds me of that '03 storm.

SC, did DH make it back safely last night? How long did it end up taking?

 

i made it back.

andi's boss kept everyone as late as possible and she was the last one out. her car got stuck in the parking garage and her boss told her to get a hotel room, she could work tomorow too(today) cos she would be close. did i mention that she is pregnant?

i had to dig my truck out of the drive way and put on the chains and pick up brodie. we drove to parker and illif in about 4.5 hrs. on the way i was trying to get ice off of the passanger side wiper and when i grabbed it it broke off. a short while later the driver side wiper flew off the truck. we had no wipers. luckly the one i broke off was still in my hand and we were swaping it back and fourth to clear the wind shield. I 25 moved along really well. we were going about 45 the whole way home.

it was rough, not sure we would make it at times. but the need to see andi get home kept us going.(ok that was lame but i laughed)

Well, after I eat my brother and I are going to shovel the driveway.
I've actually heard a couple of cars pass by.
Yesterday I saw no cars go by.
I could of made an end of the world movie if I had wanted to.
But it was to freezing cold for that.

Dude! My sides hurt too much from shoveling to laugh like that

 

Didn't have to shovel all the driveway after spending all morning on it.
Neighbors flaged down a tractor! So he plowed our neighbors driveway
and ours! Of course my car is plowed in, but I can at least get out.
Which means I have to rely on a ride for a while, and I hate that.
But oh well. I can get out!

 

This is one of those weeks that if you owned a snowblower, you could pay it off just by offering to clear people's driveways for a few bucks.

I know I'd pay $$$ if someone came to my door offering to clear my driveway, walks and a path through the plowed snow to the street.

 

Yep. I think he was driving up and down the roads.
He definately made a profit today.
It's worth it though.

I have laughable snow here.
There is maybe 1/4th inch on my deck, and probably about 1/8 under that is ice.

 

How's your snow total now? I think it missed you somehow

I could have made it to work if I wanted to..... but I don't want to

I'm answer calls & emails from home.

 

Come to find out, the west burbs and the north burbs got upwards of 3 inches! Wooooo! South and east metro got hardly squat. Over all - kinda meh.


But DH, the Man Meat loved the pics you posted! The best one was the snow hanging off your garage roof!

 

That was a good snow drift it almost touched the drift on the car, it even pulled our new gutters off & bent the rest.
