JCC The Weekly Column: where I write a weekly column on topics

Greetings!

As you know I am an inspiring writer without any current inspiration. But yet I want to hone my writing skills in whichever state they may be to improve.

So, I came up with this idea a long time ago but haven't done it as I was trying to find a niche thread that would actually stick.

So far, none of the threads I've done have gone anywhere really. So like the history on this day thread, I will post a weekly column on topics I have in mind that you vote that I write about. Some topics will be funny, others serious. But your votes determine the weekly column. I will try to post every Saturday or Sunday depending with the next options afterwards up for vote.

Since its October I will start with these three topic choices:

1. Pumpkin Spice Lattes: how did they come to be and why do white teenage uggs wearing girls love them?
2. The history of Halloween
3. The Halloween franchise movies: why won't they just die?

So which should I write on first?

This would work better as a vlog.

 

Vlogs are so 10 years ago.

I wouldn't mind having a blog in order to practice writing. That's why I'm doing this. I'm doing the Orange Wall Talk show thing when I can but I'm not into the blogging of my life like I literally did 10 years ago.

 

Is critical/review/commentary writing your main thing? This just sounds like your vlog thread, but in written form. Have you thought about more creative writing?

 

Creative writing is what I want to do but right now I'm just trying to write in general. I'm trying to get back the spark I lost by just writing. I'll hopefully be able to do that when I get a computer. I do have thoughts on subjects, whether humorous or serious I'd like to do.

The vlogs... I was trying to say stuff on topics I knew little to nothing about on most topics. Trying to get some sort of traction to get views to become self sustaining in monteziation. But I can't do the vlog thing like that anymore. The OWT I'm doing was supposed to involve other people, more talk show based but no luck in that right now. I'm using it to get used to camera stuff again and to talk in some things I have. Not random like my school days.

These writings I will do will be research based. I have given thought to journalism in the past so I figured this would be a way to do that. Certain topics I do want to write about but will need research for that's why it will take a week. These take thought like OWT unlike the vlogs which were just pure random nonsense.

I'll start writing on the history of Halloween soon. Perhaps I'll write a section on my creative struggles just to practice, but that will be a bonus down the line.

Is English your first language? I admire the non-native English speakers in here who can write English prose like seasoned professionals. @SuperWatto comes to mind, although to be fair he is actually a seasoned professional.

Well no I meant it as a joke I was doing for the sentence but yes aspiring, inspiring, and inquiring into writing.
