Anyone seen an F-35 Lightning II floating around anywhere? Inquiring departments of defense wish to know.

It just flew by me (I’m in southern Italy). Should I try to catch it?

^ they already found the crash site. The "zombie state" is just a theory of what could happen in this kind of circumstance, but was unlikely as the pilot ejected. (Pilots need a really good, like, seconds from death, reason to get to the point where they want eject. IE you're crashing. If you're just up there floating around incommunicado on a relatively safe pattern, you would probably stay in the plane, troubleshoot, and attempt to safely crash land without ejecting)

I'd recommend a large bottle with an appropriately sized cap.

Interesting video that shows recent developments in drone technology. On dangerous battlefields where enemy has fire capability, the Russian army uses tracked drones to deliver supplies and ammo to soldiers in forward positions, and even medivac wounded!

Figured airplane enthusiasts would like this.

I actually have a connection to this event. My elementary school was named after General Clay who helped orchestrate the Berlin Airlift.

the AC-130 has a very specific niche in the first place. It's not a safe aircraft to take into combat against near peers as the article suggests such modifications are being considered for. It will always have a role in operations against low-capability insurgents (and even then, only at night) but it's a big lumbering target flying a predictable circuit due to the design of the aircraft. Easy pickings for an enemy with radar guided weaponry.

I didn't know this, but the mail truck was made by a famous airplane company

We should totally call them Mailcats too

Entertaining video, but I'm compelled to point out the A-10 was built by Fairchild Republic, not Grumman. However, Grumman did build the Apollo Lunar Excursion Module, the spaceships that landed on the moon. So when the mail truck parks, it's cool to say, "The Eagle has landed." And you can see the resemblance too.

I'm just amazed and never gave thought to it actually, so it's kinda a fun thing to know.

Did some poking around Wikipedia, and apparently it says: "In 1987, Grumman Aerospace took over support for the A-10 program." Doesn't say why, though. When I look on the page for Fairchild Aircraft, it doesn't mention anything happening in 1987. Fairchild was bought out by M7 Aerospace in 2003, which in turn was bought out by Elbit Systems in 2010.

When I do a quick Google search, a bunch of sites say that Farichild Republic is now part of Northrop Grumman, which I assume is erroneous...if Wikipedia is correct, then the A-10 left Fairchild and went to Grumman for some reason, but the company itself did not.

cockpit cross section doesn't seem ideal. And those engines don't help the stealth either. Probably more detectable than the SU50 or even the J20 and J31.

The prototype is flying with a pair of F-16 engines. I think Turkey working on their own engines that they want to install in the production version.
