Every Week or so there will be a new topic.
Topics may be suggested by veiwers, or PMed to this sock.


Every Month, there will be a new Wes Janson challenge.
If I forget or if you have any suggestions please PM this sock!


The Index will be updated as often as it can. If you want your story starring Wes Janson to be added to the Index (it does not have to be only Wes, but he at least has to be a minor character), please PM the sock with links to your fic(s). Please do not send continuous PMs, as the Index will be organized according to name in alphabetcial order.

Discussion Topic For 7/11: What do you like most about Wes? Favorite profic moment? Favorite fanfic moment?

 

July Challenge: We all know it's easy to write a funny Wes story...how bout an angsty Wes story?

The challenge: Write a vig (can be longer if you like) that is very angsty. If you'd like you can add humor, but it should mainly be angst.

Include the phrases:
"But, I love you."
"I wish you were here." (last line of your vig)

alright, I think I'll go for that challenge. It'll be hard to do(for reasons I will not specify) but I'm pretty sure I can pull it off.

 

You might also want to check out the Pilot-Fic Index. It lists all of the stories about the pilots and many are about Wes. In fact, the first challenge by the original pilot index was a "kill Wes" challenge, so you should find lots of stories there about Wes (the 5th post down). Hope that helps.

Wes is one of my favorite characters, so I'll be sure to keep my eye on this thread!

 

Okay, since I write Janson a good deal, I'll bite.

What do you like most about Wes?
Honestly, the thing I like about him most (and the thing so many authors forget) is that he's a very complex person. He plays the role of the funny man, but we get these glimpses of him as more in the novels. I love how AA puts him in situations where we see all these different emotions.

Favorite profic moment?
Probably the blastsword scene from SoA. (Ties in with the first question)

Favorite fanfic moment?
I can only pick one? How about most of CarrKicksDoor's "Unfit for a Normal Life"

What I like most about Wes?
hmmm, well first would be the fact that he's a very complex character and a close second would be his humor! I love guys who can make me laugh!

i honestly don't have one! but i got to say i'd love to see more of him in Legacy!

hmmm, probably anything from Jaya Solo! I love how she writes Wes and I can't get enough of it!

What do you like most about Wes?
Well, he?s just goofy. I love guys like that. He has this great sense of humor and loves making people laugh. But like many comedians I fear that his sense of humor comes from a dark past. I really got into his head while writing his back story, and I envisioned a past full of the deaths of loved ones at the hands of the Empire. Like many of his fellow Rogue Pilots, Wes has seen, done, and experienced a lot and he finds solace in his humor.


Favorite profic moment?
Gee, that?s a hard one. Maybe when Wes created Lt. Kettch, or when Lt. Kettch was the only scrap of clothing Wes had to cover himself. That was a great moment when he got pranked by the squadron. I also really love the moment when Wedge asked Wes to take out that bright shiny thing in the sky otherwise known as the sun.


Favorite fanfic moment?
Well, I loved it when Wes and the other Rogues babysat in ?Not the World?s Greatest Babysitters.? Very fun and silly.

As for my stuff? hm? dunno, I just really loved getting into Wes? head. That?s how he became my favorite character. I really felt like I got to know him, and I really enjoyed writing him as a geeky, awkward teenager growing up and then gradually showing how he became the guy we know and love. Hehe. I still love that stuff. Always good to be able to look back over a year later and still love what you wrote.

What do you like most about Wes?

Everything. His whole character is just... genius. Complex comic relief is what he is.

Favorite profic momen?

That's a tough one. I don't remember exactly which X-Wing book it's in, but I'm going to go check it up before I make a complete fool of myself.

Favorite fanfic moment?
This one is easy. It comes from the Kill Wes challenge, where there was one fic I remember reading where Wes was dying a hospital room, and the Rogues were all taking turns staying with him. In the fic, it's Wedge's turn and Wedge tries to make him feel better by telling him a joke, but in the middle of the joke, Wes dies and his last thoguht is that he'll never get to hear the punchline. Of course, I think I might be mixing up two different Kill Wes fics, but I'll go check up on that sooner or later.
