I just did few of the barron quests and few of the witch quests so far.
And also the duel with the dude who then immediately asks for merci.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I’ve beaten the game twice so far, including all the DLCs, but you’ve inspired me to dive back in. I think this time I’ll try it at the hardest difficulty.

Wowowow why the **** is the wirewolf suddenly healing?
This is an issue I had with Zelda as well. I find these games -generally, but in particular the combat part- to be unnecessarily complicated and full of confusing rules. Now, the wirewolf quest was supposed to be at an affordable level yet I find it super difficult.

Certain equipment (bombs, oils) can deactivate regeneration abilities. Alternatively, depending on the quest, you might want to figure out a different way of dealing with the situation entirely.

Yeah I have the suspicion that I shouldn't even be dealing with it. My frustration comes from the fact that I was close to defeating it and suddenly it started healing very rapidly. It's weird. It looked weak enough at first, than it suddenly became almost unbeatable. I don't know what happened to give it strength.

I have a hazy recall of that being a bastard if a quest but think there's a way to cripple its health regen.

That might be foolish, but if you're sure, read the bestiary carefully.

Unfortunately it's the first time I meet it, so it's not in the bestiary yet.

Pity, had thought it might give hints in advance.

A lot of the quests give you bestiary information on the target as Geralt figures out what he’s up against, so you can prepare before the fight.

I guess this isn’t one of those.

That's one of the reassurances of the internet - more often than not the wall you've hit will have had many prior hits!

I really ought to do a new game plus run and this time take out that bastard Radovid.

I had to check. There is the need to use a very special bomb, mentioned nowhere so far in the gameplay.

I guess I need to change my approach and never engage with a monster without studying it first.

I start to feel like the IQ required by this game is beyond my reach [face_worried]

The way I eventually came to understand it is this - you're supposed to be a professional monster slayer, not medieval Leeroy Jenkins.

Indeed I later discovered that I had a book in the inventory thaf I still needed to read, containing the infos abput wirewolves, so the truth is that I was just underestimating the richness and complexity of the game.

Fortunately I had Ramza putting up with my early game experience rants and then guiding me through it.

That got me to flip through the earlier posts in this thread and in one of them I was telling somebody else werewolf tactics.

For what’s it’s worth, some major quest lines will give you different results if you make different choices throughout. I don’t recall if there’s something you can do to let the Baron live, but it’s worth keeping in mind as you progress through the game.

The Baron and his wife survive if you kill the thing living under the hillock. The catch is that if you do that, then the orphans living in Crookback Bog get eaten.
