JCC The Working from Home Support Thread

This is the thread to help support each other as we're all working from home.


There's an ongoing Slack chat in the channel for only the ladies at our company. It's currently discussing what happens when you get trapped in the bog without toilet paper.

I am currently writing a script about precautions and first aid for toxic plants you shouldn't touch while out in the woods or doing lawn mowing. Which may be the safest place for people to be right now. Out in the woods. With toxic plants.

What are you guys up to in your working from home adventures?

 

I'm waiting on my boss to get back to me on research questions. Otherwise I'm really glad I write notes on my tablet or my room would just be coated in pages of

My boss told me I may have to telecommute. I wanted to ask "...and do what?"

 

this is where i'm at as well basically. starting next week. might still be able to come in to the library to do some things, although we will be closed to the public.

 

Okay, so as even a baby knows, the backbone of any PCSP problem is its fundamental relationship to two structure polymorphisms over the relations. By simply exploiting nebulous good properties and sending them through a clonoid-minion homomorphism, we can, of course, efficiently demonstrate the NP-completeness of a given problem.

But seriously, Evan....what do you do in your job that you can accomplish from home? Any of it? Or are you just meant to log into Slack or something for 8 hours a day, surf the web, and get paid for your time of doing nothing? I guess that's preferable to not getting paid.

 

I thought about it and I can release student records holds. (Which I'm sure will be in demand!) I can also create bull**** Excel spreadsheets-- otherwise known as 95% of Excel spreadsheets.

 

Erm well I didn't purchase this season. So I guess I can still play Crucible though? I told you I wanted to know your timezone and you never responded!

Edit: Ah the old spreadsheet BS..very good..we have one useful one at work.

 

I am overwhelmed and stir crazy.

we had 3 different hour long meetings on what to do yesterday and today, and over 100 emails and 200 GroupMe messages that don’t stop at 5pm.

we are trying to put together a virtual learning plan starting tomorrow, and virtual service and learning plan starting next week for 40 hours a week. For a service program where they should be tutoring students in classrooms but schools are closed. While also trying to help the school district figure out how to do their own virtual learning for so many tens of thousands of students plus how we’d fit into it.

I primarily work from home now, so now it's just mandatory. I can do basically all of my job from home. Also, if someone knows how to jimmy up a really awesome background screen for Zoom that works, I'd appreciate it.
