Great, one of the best things to come out of the World Cup for England, seriously!

 

For the English result all I can say is three words - Not. My. Fault.
I was nowhere near a TV, sorry lads! I was even asked to cheer on Portugal, but I was too busy attending the FF-UK: London table

As for the flaming going on, cut it out please. You should know who you are or I can send you nice PMs. I think the important point is that England qualified (but lost). You should have been able to support them as fellow FF-UK members and not have jealousy in your hearts.

Yes, we can blame Sven. It was HIS choice to play the long ball option, which fails miserably with a lone striker. We end up missing out all the goof midfielders we have, and relying on Rooney (or Owen in his game) to score by themselves - 2 very short strikers. Plus putting people out of position. Terrible terrible manager (at the end. He was OK earlier before becoming stupid).

Rooney should have been sent off. Yes, he was fouled, but he retaliated. He looked before he stamped, and was nowhere near the ball. A stupid moment, which got what was deserved. I think the English fans and press are using Ronaldo as a Scapegoat. Rooney should not have done what he did.

Lampard did play poorly, but so did Gerrard. Yes, he got his 2 goals, but aside from that, we hardly ever saw him. You can't see much from the midfield with the approach Sven took. At least Cole played well.

But a good game tonight. I'm glad that Italy won. They showed the people who say that Italy only played defensively that they can play really really well. In extra time, Germany were playing for penalties. A poor move which England are also guilty of. Italy were all guns blazing, and deservedly won. It would have been a good final.

And I can't get over the people saying France should win. Did you see their behaviour against Spain? Henry was terrible in that match. Germany were running up to the ref to get the Swdish bloke sent off. Portugal did the same. It seems that Italy (in this tournament) have been one of the fairer sides, and so I hope they win. (And I don't think it was a dive in the Australia match)

Great match tonight, Italy seemed always to have more attacking chances. I liked how the upped a gear in extra time, having 2 great chances in the first couple of minutes.
Both sides defended well, and it was a very back & forth game

Glad Italy won, they are overdue
