    I always thought Karrde was Ka-raid as well. Then I realised, for the first time five minutes ago, that there is only one "A". Heh, I also pronounced Tsavong Lah as "Tis-vawng La" Beat that :p

    Jay-son - Jacen
    Jay-nah - Jaina
    Carrd (I hold out the "r" a bit) - Karrde
    Sah'-vong Lah (I make the "S" a bit hard, to emphasize the possibility of a "T" in front) - Tsavong Lah
    Ah-ay-lah - Aayla (I <3 the multitude of "a"s in her name :D )
    Care-id-a - Carida
    Tah-hee-ree - Tahiri
    Oo-tah-pow - Utapau

    That's what I say. :)

    If you know the Japanese character "tsu" that helps you know how to pernounce the T in Tsavong Lah.

    Fist_of_Mandalore... I've heard so much discussion recently on the proper pronunciation of lascannon.

    *is painting tyranids but never played*

    So my roommate and I had a semi-inebriated discussion on pronunciation and decided that Bpfassh is pronounced with a near silent B. Don't ask me to spell it phoenetically 'cuz I can't :p

    And it just occurred to me that until I was 16 I pronounced it "My-racks" as opposed to "Mir-ax."

    Yeah... that was an interesting conversation last night.

    There was Durron which she pronounced Durr-on and I pronounce Durr-un. Uhh... Ta'a Chume, I call her Tah-ah Choome and she says Tah Chu-may. Cilghal.. which I had no earthly idea of how to pronounce but I think we established Sill-gall as the best we could come up with. There were others but I can't remember them right now.

    Speaking a bit of Hebrew helps me, personally.

    Mine are the same as Jaina's except for Aayla, which I say Ayala for some reason.

    My question: how on Earth do you say Ooryl Qrygg? I say it Oo-ree-ul Krigg, but I doubt that's correct.

    Just realized how wrong Mirax's name pronunced as "My-racks" sounds. I pronounce Ooryyl Qrygg as Oor-el Kwir-g. My only defense is that I have a speech impediment :). Not that has anything to do witht this as I extend the letter "s". How do you guys pronounce Oppo Rancisis? I say Oh-poe Ran-see-sis, and I'm almost certain that is correct. And Tis-vawng-La sounds good to me. I tried saying other ways but it is too hard for me. And what about Jorus C'baoth? No idea on how to say that. Sad isn't it :(

    Tahiri = Ta'hear'ee
    Mirax = Meer'ax
    Tsavong Lah = Sah'vong Lah
    Yuuzhan Vong = You'zhan Vong (the "zh" is pronounced the same as a French J, like in "je", or "joie" . . . can't think of an English equivalent right now)
    Cilghal = Sill'gall

    For me Yuuzhan Vong is You-zan(short a) Vong allthough sometimes I slur it making it sound like You-zen (again, short e) Vong.

    I pronounce Ooryl Qrygg: Ooh-ryll Qwurg or slurring it Ooh-rill Qwurg

    I pronounced Yuzzhan, well... 'Yuz-han' for the longest time (I still do it on occasion). Also, I originally read Jaina as 'Jania'.

    Jorus='Jo-oo-rus' for me

    Any proper pronunciation for Iella? When I say it it comes out something like 'Yella'.

    For Jorus C'Batoth I now say Jor-Us Keh-Bawth. For Iella Wessiri I say I-la Wes-er-ee. Phonetics are good for your soul!

    I usually go with Ee-Ell-Uh too.

    As for Jorus, I switch between Joh-rus Ka-Both for Jorus and Joh-roos for Joruus.

    I have a friend who pronounces his last name See-boh-ath.

    BTW, how you y'all pronounce Tycho (as in Celchu)? Is it Tie-koh or Tie-choh? Only asking because I know people who get ticked off when I say "Tie-koh" because they all seem to think it has a "cho" sound in it.

    Offically, it's the one with the k. It's a hard sound. Pernounced just like the Earth version. I on the other hand think it's dumb how we pronounce the ch sound k. But you're really pronouncing it the right way. :)

    Utapau: According to the webdocs, Oo-tuh-pow. Actually, that second vowel should be a schwa. Oo-tah-pow if you're enunciating.

    Plagueis: According to Pablo Hidalgo, Plague-ee-is.

    Most of the names are pretty easy to pronounce, I think. My strategy: Most of the vowels are the Latin pronunciation (ah eh ee oh oo for a e i o u), unstressed vowels tend to go to schwa (like English), and anything that looks like English probably sounds like it. And for some reason, "ine" at the end of a word is always pronounced like "een". So, using movie examples: Kamino doesn't look like English. Therefore: Kah-mee-noh, and the first vowel becomes a schwa making Kuh-mee-noh. Bespin looks pretty much like English, so pronounce it like an English word. Ditto with Hoth. Coruscant would be a difficult one, especially since its English equivalent has a hard "c". It's really less a rigorous strategy and more just pronouncing what sounds right.

    So, to try that out:

    Aayla: It doesn't look English overall, but that "ay" combination does. The last letter is unstressed. Ay-luh.

    Carida: Nice and phonetic. Cah-ree-dah, and with the schwa, Cuh-ree-duh (the schwa just falls in in natural speech; without it, it may sound more foreign or overenunciated).

    Tahiri: Phonetic. Tah-hee-ree or Tuh-hee-ree.

    Going by the Clone Wars cartoons and what I've heard on the webdocs, I've gotten Aayla, Shaak Ti, Utapau, and Mustafar right. It's a pretty standard way of English-speaking people writing foreign-looking names, I think. When they start going for a more foreign look than that (like "Yuuzhan") it gets harder.

    Vos: Is it Vohs or Vahs? I say it the first way.

    And does anyone else pronounce the first part of Bpfassh as one big raspberry noise? :p
