For Melian, the choice of entwining her life and heart with Thingol was not something she looked for or sought. It unfurled before her like a burgeoning flower or spilled out in liquid notes like a nightingale's song.

Luthien's choice was one she fought against, but her heart was ensnared as swiftly and inextricably as Beren's. And their love and courage served as examples to emulate and as beacons of hope in a bedarkened world.

Then it came to Arwen... The world was as threatened as it had ever been in Luthien's days. Arwen did not question or ponder although parting from her family would not come easily. But she could no sooner consider a life apart from Aragorn than the sun could decide to not come up the following morning.

When she joined her life to his, it heralded a new dawning ... which coincided exquisitely with Sauron's complete vanquishment. It was as if the world could breathe in a truly cleansed, liberated breath, and Arwen and Aragorn could continue their life's soul-journey without fear or menace.

These loves became the stuff of legends and inspired a wellspring of deep admiration and gladness in all who wished them happiness.
