TV Discussion Top 3 most anticipated

As of now:

1. Tales of the Jedi
2. Bad Batch Season 2
3. Ahsoka (although this may be superceded by The Mandolorian Season 3)

 

Interesting! Out of curiosity - and if you can be bothered - what places TOTJ in the top spot for you?

(I'm intrigued by the show).

 

It's one of the most original shows coming out. Much of the Star Wars shows being released right now are either set between ROTS and ANH or set in the aftermath of ROTJ. There's not a lot of Star Wars media focusing on what happened before the prequels, save for books and comics.

I also greatly appreciate how a few of the episodes are exploring Qui-Gon's relationship with Count Dooku. I always thought that was worth expanding on.

 

Now Andor has started and it's shown us what to expect, I'm removing Andor from the list and replacing it with Andor season 2

I’ll wait until the end of Andor S1 to see if S2 is in my top three most anticipated. For now, since OWK and Andor S1 came out, I’ll say my top 3 are…

Looking ahead now that Andor season 1 is wrapped:

1. The Acolyte - New era, new characters, expanding the visual and tonal palette with Star Wars as a mystery/thriller/noir. Oh baby. Oh baby for sure.
2. Andor season 2 - Comfortably the best Star Wars series to date, following up on so many interesting character paths, and the added time jumps will be fascinating.
3. The Mandalorian season 3 - It feels like we'll finally be digging into the meat and potatoes of Mandalorian culture post-Empire, plus seeing our sweet boyo Babu and his whole Frik'n family.

 

Revised post Andor, now that we've seen -- beyond the appealing grounded visuals and tone in the trailers -- how much substance and quality storytelling is actually there.

Is Acolyte coming out before Andor S2?

If it is, that makes it my number 1, but only because it's new and first. Otherwise Andor S2 is my top (rather than second). Mando S3 is my third. Ahsoka could be bumped up to compete with third if we get to see some footage...

What else is coming?

 

Bad Batch season 2, Skeleton crew and Visions season 2 coming out in 2023. Acolyte is 2024 most likley. All Filoni and Faveru for 2023.

 

Ah, yeah, I was focused on live action.

I’m excited about Visions, as it was time to bring some artistry into Star Wars animation.

Bad Batch I’m kind of indifferent on.

Skeleton Crew I’m afraid will have a schmaltzy Super 8/ Stranger Things vibe to it, but I’m open to being surprised and delighted.

 

Hmm. Mando 3 trailer looks very promising. To my mind, the Top 3 is getting crowded and the gap between them is narrower than originally thought:

1) Andor S2
2) Acolyte
3) Mando 3

Does the latest trailer change the Top 3 for you right now?

After the Mandalorian trailer, it's just just nudged Ahsoka out, but literally because it starts in a few weeks and I need me some live action SW.

When Mando starts it'll change to back to Ahsoka, and when that starts it'll change to Skeleton Crew. (Unless another unknown show with huge potential is announced.)
Acolyte remains at the top because I'm most intrigued about that show.
Regarding the animated stuff, I like BB and I watch it on release day but I wasn't waiting with bated breath. I enjoyed Visions but I don't return to it at all and I think S2 will be more of the same for me.
