I loved it the first few times I saw it. But I could not watch it once I grew up. Still, I'll go see the sequel.

This film took my breath away as a kid. And I thought it was best recruitment film the US Navy every made.

Top Gun the way it was meant to be watched - fast-forwarding through everything that doesn't involve airplanes or beach volleyball - is more or less flawless.

Wow, just noticed that this kid is playing with a toy of an F-15 Eagle, not the F-14 Tomcat that his dad and Maverick flew. [face_not_talking]

It was. According to the Navy, after the film released the number of recruits (all men back then still..sad) who applied to be Naval Aviators increased.......by 500%! LOL!!

And yet you don’t complain about @solojones having a thread with “I like X, so I’d like X” even though the Xs have different values.

    Agenda driven fraud.

You know, I realized it should have had an X and Y, but then just decided it was more 90s if it were XXtreme.

As written it’s a perfectly sound tautological statement.

I liked it more after growing up...I didn't really quite understand all of everything that was going on when I watched it as a kid. However, I don't see how they're going to make this sequel work. Top Gun was pretty great for its time, but I don't see it taking off in this day and age.

I’m still pushing my “he should be Batman and Superman” agenda.

    @Ramza you’re worse than Hitler.

Too bad Jon will never play the part. I think he would been perfect as Batman.

Ninja'ed by EHT! Yeah, that's an Air Force F-15. But what can you expect in a movie that can't tell an F-5 from a fictional MiG?

    Delayed 1 year.

I guess it's schedule was writing checks its production couldn't cash ;). The delay is to allow more time to coordinate the flight sequences so as to not rush them on a short schedule.

they can take five years. this is the most important film in history.

and that was before it cast jon hamm.

however if they still want premier donald j trump in only his white diarrhea shorts for the volleyball scene, prolly sooner is better.

It's really happening. And there are set photos to prove it.

Tom Cruise arrived at Lemoore Naval Air Station, which is about three hours from where I live.

I'm going to miss the Tomcats as I'm not digging the look of the Hornet below. I would have preferred it to be in camo like Viper's and Jester's A-4s.

Tom Cruise Zooms Back Into The Danger Zone In The Latest Set Photos From TOP GUN: MAVERICK
    [IMG]

The megastar was spotted yesterday in San Diego, California riding around on a brand new Kawasaki Ninja H2 Carbon, a $30,000 limited edition motorcycle of which only 120 were ever produced. It’s considered one of the fastest road legal bikes on the planet with a 1000cc four-cylinder supercharged engine with 200bhp and a top speed of 209mph.

On another note, Deadline recently reported that Paramount has rounded out its gigantic ensemble with Kara Wang (Good Trouble), Jack Schumacher (Empire), Greg Tarzan Davis (Chicago P.D.), Jake Picking (Sicario: Day of the Soldado), Raymond Lee (Scandal), Jean Louisa Kelly (Ant-Man), and Lyliana Wray (Strange Angel).

The final seven join a cast, that in addition to Cruise, will also feature Val Kilmer (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Jennifer Connelly (Only The Brave), Jon Hamm (Bad Times at the El Royale), Ed Harris (Westworld), Miles Teller (Whiplash), Glen Powell (Set It Up), Monica Barbaro (Splitting Up Together), Charles Parnell (A Million Little Pieces), Jay Ellis (Insecure), Bashir Salahuddin (GLOW), Danny Ramirez (Assassination Nation), Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale), and Manny Jacinto (The Good Place).

Joe Kosinski (Oblivion; Only The Brave; Tron: Legacy) is directing with a script from Peter Craig (The Town), Justin Marks (The Jungle Book), and Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle). Jerry Bruckheimer is back on board as a producer alongside Cruise and David Ellison.

Plot details remain under wraps for now, but the film will reportedly be set in a world of drone technology and fifth generation fighters and will also explore the end of the era of dogfighting.
