JediClare : jrock cosplayer? well they seldom communicate with the anime cosplayers..

DE : eh your wings can definitely make it through the door. dont forget its a convention hall and they purposely chose a place with high ceilings for such stuff.

If it's one or 2 I think it's okay. Last MAC Cosplay, there were 2 people from Harry Potter: Harry Potter and Munfort(sp?) and Faiz should know who they were too. ;)

Hey, Yazid, like that can become my photographer too? :D :D

I got this reply from Joash. Basically, he said that it'll be okay if Yazid come in SW Costume as a spectator and for fun but there might be some buzzing about it later.

"there might be some issues with certain cosplayers that insist that it's only an anime/manga cosplay. i've heard both sides of the story, those that are for it and those that are not, and i'm not too sure
yet what to decide upon. SCC has opted for a more accepting and open standard and i actually do not wish to contest their stand since i do hope that eventually SCC would take over all cosplay related events in singapore with us as a supporting club.

but i must say that the star wars cosplayer might face a mixture of acceptance and rejection no matter what our official position will be. if it's just for fun and as a spectator it should be ok by me. our previous year's stand was that we welcome all ppl who are dressed up, but we remind all that the event will be specifically catered towards anime/manga cosplayers and they would probably be the only ones primarily benefiting from the stage events and contests if any.

with that in mind, the other forms of cosplayers should not be offended if they are not particularly highlighted. if they're comfortable with this, there should not be a problem.

i just hope that they understand our position and that we not trying to actively ignore or put them down.

    hope this helps,
    joash
    "

Hmm, if come worse to worse, make Yazid wear that costume (probably a more refine and fitting version) I wore at Confest 2002 since that Character is not taken. :p

    More replies:

interestingly enough, there is a 'special award' that our committee has set aside for cosplayers that are non-anime/manga that deserve honoring. so i think on the comm side, we're expecting such cosplayers and while we all that i've said in the previous post is probably true, we still want to show that we recognise them and their effort. :D

And this one from the forum is tempting me again :p

"However this year we are opening up for movie and jrock cosplayers to participate, since they are still part of dressing up like the character. I actually saw a Spiderman cosplayer photo featured on Animage Magazine! ^^ There's even a group of Star Wars cosplayers...sugoi desu ne."

    :p

So in other words, we can go in SW costume but not participate in the contests? :D

The first reply seems to imply so but the existance of that "Special Award" may state that SW Costumes are allowed to participate but as "special award" entriees (not any of the main ones like Best Male/Female, Best Group etc).

I'll observe what the situation will become as the committee makes more decisions and other cosplayer give their opinions. Frankly, most of the cosplayers will not mind and will be very supportive but there're the very few who'll let their naiveness and envy get in their way of giving their opinions. :\

Hmm, thinking of bring in the whole SW gang, eh? I wonder what'll happen if B0baFett and Chakster pop up there in their respectives armor. ?[face_plain]

Sure! :) I'm gonna be a walking Super Star Destroyer that day IF my 6 Wings is made exactly to how it's meant to be (HUGE! ). ;)

    Project Adam Kadmon

Still thinking how I can transport it. [face_plain] Think if I make it into 2 separate pieces (L & R ) which can be turned into 1 using a system of metal snaps and strings etc, I can fit it in the standing area of the normal bus. And that means I also must make a special bag for it with handles and velcros to allow me to strap it to the bars during the transporting period of 1hour. MRT sounds okay but I will occupy the whole row of seats or block the entrance (cause Bradell's exit/entrance is on the other side) before reaching my destination of City Hall.

Okay, all the homeworks and prototypes to do after my exams this Nov 2nd! ;) And my 12" Maul gonna get a set of 6 wings. ;)

Oh yes, I really, really need some lobong, where I can get Green, "Transparent/Clear" Acrylic Rod to make my prop; 3/4" diametre & about 4' long. Something like what being used for some people's lightsabre bladed:

    Imperial Outfitter's Lightsabre Blade Tutorial

Am too lazy (REAL REASON: No space to do painting over 1+ week ) to use wooden dowel as it'll need 6-9 layers of Primer, base coat, color and finisher. And I think if using Acrylic Rod, later can recycle into Lightsabre blade! :D

I had check at Arts Friend Craft and Saga City and the thickest they got is 1/4" and clear. And either can't do special order for me. :_|

    Any thoughts, anyone? :D

DE, ever thought of catching a cab instead?

If they got a Pickup/Small Lorry in their Fleet! [face_laugh] The Wings is gonna be HUGE (check out the link I posted in my previous mail), about 1.5m high (or width when I'm carrying it) and 1.4-1.6m width and this is roughly based on my height which is quite short, so no Cab can transport it even if it's to come in 2 separate or even 1 foldable piece. :( The biggest cab back seat is about 1.2m wide and so is the booth. The major pair of Wings is the problem.

Sometimes I really wonder why I choose to do Adam Kadmon instead of the other Angel Characters back in March. :p

LOL! I did thought of chartering a bus or a lorry but think it's not economical as I planned to go for a little makeover in the morning in my costume (if that offer in Aug Cleo still stand till Dec! :D ). Aiyah! When comes to wearing makeup, I failed lor!

Hmm, is there anyone who is thinking of coming to the event but don't have any costumes? If I can whip myself more after my exams, I can try to practice my sewing skills more till "perfect" and produce costumes that can actually be worn. :D

Yub, yub! :) But can't compete in any of the main categories unless the judges choose to give any of you the "Special Awards".
And you might be invited to have your personal photo taken like seen here

I wonder why this year no "Winged Character Award" cause there gonna be lots of people with wings that day. And I wonder which main category I'll fit in. :p (My Character is neither Male or Female, lor! ;) )

Hope to see as many people from our FanForce as possible! :) No need just SW costumes; LOTR also can since some of us will have the costumes & props. ;)

I'll also be going to Chinatown this Sunday to place the order for my Wig/Wigs. Interested individuals please PM or e-mail me by Sat night. ;)
