Just outside the ruins of the Sith Academy, Korriban

The Lambda shuttle set down in the swirling dust and wind of Korriban. Not a dozen paces from the ramp were the steps that led up and into the ruins of the ancient Sith Academy. Beyond that wasted structure was the Valley of the Dark Lords. Inside the shuttle the seats were only partially filled. Four peons sat in the jump seats, blindfolds over their eyes, the ‘Overseers’ having used the Force to confuse their minds and deafen them as well. They knew not where they were.

Each had been equipped with similar outfits, light armor, boots, gloves, and helmets. Depending on their lightsaber forms of choice they were also equipped with either one or two electroblades. They had not even been told of the mission they were being taken on. All that had happened was that those grading this mission had gathered them all and instructed them that they had a mission for them.

The ramp opened and the ‘Overseers’ guided them off of the shuttle and to the sand. Moving back to the shuttle, they removed the blinding, deafening, and confusion from the peon’s minds. One of them reached out into the peon’s minds once more. ‘This test will take part in stages. The first is to navigate the ruins of the old Sith Academy. You will not be warned of the dangers there, only that a very real chance of death exists in those ruins. Should you emerge at the far exit of the building will you be instructed what the next stage will be. Now go before we kill you ourselves.’

The ramp closed, the shuttle lifted, and the four of them were left alone on the surface of Korriban with no clue whether they were to work together or alone, or how long they had to make it through the ruins.

    TRIPLE APPROVED BY THE GMS

    Name: Tobbi Airskipper
    Age: 18
    Species: Human
    Homeworld: Coruscant
    Height: 5'11
    Weight: 170lbs
    Gender: Male
Physical attributes: Dark-skinned man with bleached hair, agile and on the slender side but his physical strength is not to be underestimated would put it around Quinlan Vos's level.
    Weapons: A single electroblade
    Occupation: Sith Peon
Abilities: Core force abilities such as push, pull, sense, and speed with an affinity for force grip.
Clothing: light armor, boots, gloves, and helmet

Bio: Tobbi Airskipper was born with a Silver spoon in his mouth. His father is a rich aristocrat who married a force-sensitive mother. This was not a union of love as much as it was a union of political interests aligning.
Tobbi's father, Devron wanted a way to gain political influence so he figured that if he had a force-sensitive child and trained them to be the perfect sith apprentice unknowingly, he could forge an alliance between the Sith Triumvirate and himself to further his political career. Devron had 3 different children that he branded as failures until his fourth child Tobbi, his pride and joy was finally the perfect specimen that he always wanted.

This means that Tobbi is by far Devron's favorite child and is allowed to spend whatever money he pleases as long as he is able to further his father's goal. This suits Tobbi just fine as he rarely calls upon him for help and plans on usurping Devron's legacy from right under his nose even though he loves him, such is the way of the Sith.....

The hums of the shuttle were nothing compared to the deafening power of the force.

Tobbi felt disoriented and confused. He didn't know why this was a simple shuttle ride but there was something....odd. Yes, there were blindfolds over his eyes but there was also a constant ringing going on in his head, making Tobbi fear that he may have gone deaf. What exactly was going on?

Whatever it was Tobbi couldn't afford to let worry him, whatever the Sith had planned was...different. This was no task, this was something else entirely, this might be a trial of some sort. Whatever the case Tobbi needed to use this time to rest. So Tobbi slowly converted his anxiety into fatigue and got some sleep.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Though Tobbi could not hear, he could certainly feel, the sudden vibrations of the shuttle landing did more than enough to wake him up. They were now at their destination, wherever it was still a mystery to him but for some reason, he felt cold, intriguing....

Someone came onto the ship, the identity of who was also a mystery. They guided him off of the shuttle, removed his blindfolds but when Tobbi glanced back to see them, the shuttle doors had already closed.

That's when it fully hit him, the confusion was gone! Tobbi figured out instantly that a dark-side haze was cast intentionally on the peons and now he could feel and see why. This planet may have been hot and sandy but it was cold, so cold and so eerie. Looks like Tobbi was once again right this was indeed a trial, but of what exactly? A massive voice then boomed inside his mind, echoing within and answering his every question.

"This test will take part in stages. The first is to navigate the ruins of the old Sith Academy. You will not be warned of the dangers there, only that a very real chance of death exists in those ruins. Should you emerge at the far exit of the building will you be instructed what the next stage will be. Now go before we kill you ourselves."

The shuttle lifted off and left, stranding the peons to their fate. Ah, so this is how it is, Tobbi mused to himself.

"Well looks like there's nothing left for us here," Tobbi spoke loudly but he was not talking to anyone in particular as he made his way to the academy steps which were caked in sand. Tobbi saw the statues all around him, he knew where he was but it did not faze him, in fact, this made a lot of sense. This is where it all started, not only the Sith as a philosophical concept but the Triumvirate as well. Tobbi remembered reading documents relating to the history of the rule of three.

Yes, this was Korriban, and where the eldritch DARTH DREADWAR, nefarious DARTH INSIPID, and deranged DARTH HARETISCH constructed their alliance together and welcomed the other Darths of the Sith.

    Tobbi could not help but think of his father Devron;

"Tobbi, you are my everything, you are the culmination of my past and the harbinger of my future. Go forth and bring legacy and prestige to the Airskipper name! As we only crave one thing Tobbi, success. Ambition runs and courses through our veins, and you are my vassal because it runs the strongest through you,"

If his father had known that his plans had led Tobbi to the ancient valley of Sith, he would've been so proud. The young peon smiled, this was his moment, and he was living in it, not his father. Yes, Tobbi had decided in his mind that this was going to be the tale of Tobbi Airskipper's rise to success!

Entrance to the Ruins of the Sith Academy, Korriban
Top of the stairs leading inside

The first Peon made his move, reached the top of the stairs. When he arrived on the broad platform before the entrance to the ruins, a flat plate set upon the ground glittered and then burst into a larger than life hologram.

The being revealed was covered in a black cloak, hood up, covering its face. It gazed in the general direction of the peon; even in hologram form a sense of malevolence broiled from it. There was a hollow chuckle and a sleeve longer than the arms pointed at a spot beside the plate on the ground. The wind picked up for a moment and cleared the sand from that spot, revealing a datapad.

“Peon...yes I am aware you have a name, no I do not care. You have a task before you. The datapad has a pair of maps upon it. Your Overseers did not exactly lie to you about getting through the Academy. Your task is to do so, however you cannot without retrieving an item. There are several of these items located around the ruined Academy.” Its head suddenly moved, the hidden face obviously now looking directly at Tobbi’s.

“You are known, as I said. And have said you wish to be a warrior and a sorcerer. This is now your dilemma. To pass beyond these walls you must make a choice, which is more important to you, to be your primary class. Until you do you will not be able to escape the confines of these walls as neither item related to that class will respond to you.” The figures hidden gaze seemed to find enjoyment in the Peon forever wandering the halls.

“The pad has maps of the Academy. However, the map is from the time before the attack upon this hallowed hall. If you look upon the map of the first level, the corridor that is at the bottom of the map, including it’s chambers, had been crushed. The first chamber on the top right of that map is choked with rubble. The bottom of the map is on your left from where you stand. Upon the second level, the damage is similar, both chambers on the bottom and the bottom one on the right side of the map are destroyed, but the chambers you need are not those, this time. And,” the roar of a tuk’ata sounded from inside, “the destruction is not all you face.”

The hologram cast its gaze up into the sky, then looked back down at Tobbi, “You have no time limit to find your item but trust me when I say that your progress is being monitored.”

OOC: This first response you will explore the first floor of the ruins. You may encounter various creatures that live on Korriban. If you are unaware of what those are I would recommend researching what they are. When encountering them do not forget you are a Peon and not as strong as you believe. If you have questions about a fight, when encountering wildlife ask a GM for a ruling on injuries or death of the character or NPC creature.

Tobbi knelt before the dark figure and listened to all of his instructions. Once the Hologram dissipated Tobbi picked up the datapad and made some notes on it. Tobbi shorthanded the notes, marking H to denote here and C to denote collapsed.

Tobbi silently crept into the main entrance, and it no doubt was in ruins. The ceiling was dilapidated and there was debris everywhere. Tobbi wasn't quite sure of what to make of this academy but it enkindled a secret fascination within him. There was a hidden beauty in witnessing ruined structures like this. To imagine that once upon a time these very halls were at some point filled with hundreds of Sith going about their day. He wondered what their reaction would've been knowing that their illustrious temple had fallen into ruin.

Tobbi continued past the main entrance and into a corridor of some sort, a transition room perhaps? The stench hit Tobbi first it made him want to gag. Something died here, that was the only way Tobbi could even process the stench that permeated the area.

A faint sound awakened something primal within Tobbi's head, it told him to hide immediately. What he heard, he wasn't sure but it sounded like a low growl and it was close he just didn't know how close.

Corridor between the Main Entryway and Main Hall, Sith Academy Ruins, Korriban

The corridor was dim, shadows gathered in every nook and cranny of it. The growl sounded once more and then the shine of a pair of eyes reflected from the gloom. They were low to the ground but spread, which told him that it had to be a larger creature than a rat, if the growl itself hadn’t told him that. Deliberately slowly, it stalked into the gloomy light from a shadow.

The low slung body rippled with muscles, the snout quivered as it followed the currents of his scent. Its eyes raked his form, another growl and what could almost be said to be a smile on its dark face grew. Clicking sounds filled the air as it padded towards him, completely unafraid of a biped in its territory.

The eyes looked up, gazing into his, almost as though there was an intellect behind them, deciding if he would fight back as it attacked. Its tail whipped past it’s head, the whiplike motion aiming to slash the Peon or startle him into motion.

As it withdrew, swung back into the darkness behind the beast, that was when the attack came. A miniscule scritch of sound was the Peon’s only warning as he was attacked.

    From behind…

    Combo with the GMs

    Scritch.

A tiny scrape against the floor, a noise so minuscule that in other circumstances would've gone unnoticed but it made Tobbi's blood turn cold once he heard it but it was all he needed to hear as he turned in time to see the Tuk'ata right above him. Already Tobbi could see that the beast matched him in height if it stood on its hind legs. Instinctively Tobbi threw his hands out to push the beast away with the force.

The Tuk’ata snarled as the push hit, making it land a pace before him. A second sound reached his ears at the same time, the first Tuk’ata now making its move. The tail of the Tuk’ata that had just landed whipped forward, to snare him in its grasp as the first bounded forward, one limb stretching out to rake its claws across his back.

In Tobbi's panic, he had almost forgotten about the one right in front of him, almost. Tobbi quickly pivoted on his heels in a 360 motion striking the Tuk'ata's tail with his electroblade.

This was it. The first time Tobbi has felt real primal fear as he stared down two Tuk'ata's both man-sized and filled to the brim with muscle. Was this the thrill of battle?

As he spun, the first Tuk’ata raked its claws, ripping through the cloth along the side of his uniform top. It growled in pleasure, knowing it was close to the prey. It could sense the fear and adrenaline of the man.

The second whined slightly as its tail was hit by the electroblade, feeling it whip out of line, the slight sear from the electric contact. The tail whipped back and forth as it crouched, its growl causing small stones on the floor to shudder. Without missing a beat it darted towards Tobbi and spun, intending to smash its hindquarters into his hips.

Tobbi was shocked with the amount of coordination that the Tuk'ata's displayed, were they communicating?
The thought sent shivers down his spine but he saw an opening in their formation and acted upon it. Tobbi leaped far over the 2nd Tuk'ata that aimed for his hips where he was out of reach for it. Meeting the 1st one in mid-air, maneuvering himself out of the way of its claws and striking it directly in its left eye with his electrosaber.

The first Tuk’ata growled, closing its thick eyelid as the blade came in. A roar of pain and anger at the hit-filled the air and its head twisted in a sharp gesture, grabbing the blade between its teeth. Even as it whined at the electricity coursing through its mouth it used its powerful neck muscles to rip the blade from his hands.

Even as his hands went numb for a second from the shock of the blade’s departure the second Tuk’ata, sensing him diving over it pushed off the floor with its back legs, striking him in the torso, causing him to fly upward and rebound against the ceiling.

The first shook its head more as it tried to rid itself of the electric current before the whipping of the head back and forth caused the blade to fly from its mouth and over Tobbi, and onto the top of a small pile of rubble behind where he landed.

Tobbi groggily shook his head, his body sore after the thrashing it just took. And his face cacked with blood and dust. Intelligence, speed, strength, and durability. These beasts are literally the full package, Tobbi thought to himself as he got up and grabbed his electrosaber from the floor. The exit was right next to him he could literally run away from this fight but that isn't what he wanted. These beasts awakened something within him, something dark, he wanted to END them. Was it unwise, probably, but Tobbi didn't care, all he wants to do is prove himself the stronger predator, such is the way of the Sith.

Tobbi eyed the environment around him, he saw loose pillars and stone and the ceiling wasn't particularly stable either. Tobbi gave a very wicked smile, his eyes turned colors, matching the blood and dust caked around his face.

With that Tobbi levitated the loose stone that surrounded the hallway and flew them towards the Tuk'atas

The Tuk’atas dodged back and forth as they charged him, yipping and coughing growls sounding as various rocks hit them. The first fell as a larger segment of column hit it square in the forehead, caving in its skull. It drifted to a stop several meters away.

The second caught that out of the corner of its eye and a warbling cry went up. Just before it hit Tobbi, a second large chunk came down on its head, flattening it. The fight ended, but Tobbi now found himself stuck. The second Tuk’ata's paw had landed directly on his right foot, one talon sliding through his boot, between the bones of his foot, and into the sole. With the adrenaline, he didn’t even feel the pain until he looked down.

What caused him to attempt to hold in his own cry of pain was a deep, rolling roar that sounded deeper in the Academy, in response to the warbling cry of the second Tuk’ata.

That sound awakened a deep existential fear within Tobbi, he forgot the number one when it comes to wildlife, a fundamental law of the universe.

    "There's always a bigger fish."

Tobbi needed to figure out something fast, no matter how crude, he needed to get free before whatever it was that had made the sound found him. Tobbi looked all over and grabbed a brick, he bent down and started pummeling the Tuk'ata's wrist with all of his might over, and over and over again. This process went on and on and on until the wrist was nothing more than a bloody pulp, disconnected from its hand. From there Tobbi smashed its finger to mush but left the talon in. It would continue to cause excruciating pain but he needed it in else he'll bleed out and die judging from how deep it was in his foot.

Tobbi limped away from the area and into the next room to hide. Not even examing the room for a better hiding spot he just jumped into the first thing he saw, which happened to be a closet of some kind.

First unblocked room on the right hand corridor, Sith Academy, Korriban

As Tobbi hid in the closet, noises sounded in the corridor outside. And then a snuffling sound and the soft scritch of claws on stone as whatever it was searched for the one that had killed the tuk’ata. His fear rose as he could feel the wetness of what had to be blood welling up from his foot. Between what may have dripped on the floor and his own Force ability, something out there was sensing it and following his trail.

The door of the closet rocked against it’s frame as something brushed against it. It blew open, allowing a momentary glimpse of what was out there, when whatever it was batted against the door. What the dim light behind it revealed in that instant was a tuk’ata, probably an alpha of the pack, as it was twice the size of the two that had attacked him in the corridor. It batted against the door once again, making it fly open before a shrieking sound filled the air.

The massive tuk’ata ducked its head, paw reaching up to swipe in tha air as several flying forms swooped through the air. Distracted by the creatures, it spun, growling at the nuisance of them, the door closing behind it, but not before several of the flying beasts entered the closet, hanging from the ceiling. In the remaining light, as the door shut, it revealed what they were, shyrack, hanging from the ceiling, crying and reaching for the Peon as he hid.

OOC: In this response you can fight the three shyrack yourself. Killing all three is allowed but do not make it fast, you’re at a Peon level of ability, remember. And do not forget you have that injury to your foot.

COMBO TIME x2 with Darth Bernael

As the Shyracks entered the closet the first thing that stuck out to him was their disturbing appearance. He knew nothing of their abilities but he knew one thing for sure, HE WASN'T GOING TO DIE IN A CLOSET!

Tobbi used his right hand to channel his pain and force push two Shyracks against the wall and he used his left hand to batter the remaining Shyrack with his electrosaber.

The two Shyrack pressed against the wall shrieked, sliding around against the surface, trying to find their way around the force energy he was using to get free and attack him. The third shrieked as well when the electrosaber came in contact with its wing, making it drop to the ground. It shook itself and flapped its wings weakly as it gained a little height from the floor, then dove at him. Outside the massive Tuk’ata made the door shake once more as it roared at the rest of the pack of Shyrack that were trying to get past it to fill the closet.

Tobbi looked on at the chaos that was before him. He had no idea how or if he was going to escape but all he knew is that he couldn't let fear overtake him. He had to be present, a calm sith is a successful Sith, but that didn't mean he wasn't pissed, he had so much anger in his heart, so much fury. It was an embarrassment to be trapped in a closet as a mouse stuck and he was going to let these Shyracks feel his fury. First came the diving Shyrack, which Tobbi barely swatted away with his electrosaber. Using his rage to fuel him, continuing to batter the beast with his weapon.

The Shyrack fell to the floor as the saber struck, again and again, bodily fluids beginning to seep from its hide. It clawed its way forward, reaching out and as it shuddered its last it struck against the Tuk’ata paw still embedded in Tobbi’s foot. The other two, now released from his Push, with his focus on the third dove on him, one latching onto either shoulder with their wing claws. Their heads snapped against his helmet, trying to get under it, at the juncture of his neck, on either side.

Tobbi's anger just continued to grow. His foot hurt so badly, and the buzzing of the Shyracks was so unbearably loud, and annoying. But once again that feeling of thrill never left him. It was a curious feeling but one he fully embraced. He grabbed the Shyrack on his right shoulder and began punching it with all of his might, meanwhile thrashing around hoping to squash the Shyrack on his left against the wall.

The Shyrack on his left clawed it's way up to his back, trying to get free before it was trapped against the wall. His thrashing made it slip as it moved, his light armor keeping its talons from fully puncturing the fabric. Even still he felt every time it grabbed hold to pull itself further up. It got mostly free before he was able to trap it against the wall and suddenly he found his helmet being battered by the wings of the creature and its mouth trying to penetrate the face screen.

The second writhed in his grasp, flailing as he pounded against it, trying to twist and get free of his grasp. It bit at his gloved hands, again here the armored panels of the material kept it from fully penetrating but by the time the second fell limp in his grasp there were several teeth buried in the back or palm of the glove.

Tobbi dropped the Shyrack in his hand and focused entirely on the one that was trying to eat his face. Tobbi felt that he should be particularly brutal with this one since it annoyed him the most. He grabbed the Shyrack off of his face mask and began pulling at its arms hoping to tear the pathetic creature in half.

The last Shyrack shrieked wildly as it tried to reach his helmet once more, even as he was pulling its wings apart. Its shrieks reached a crescendo as one wing ripped free, spraying blood around the closet, coating them both in its juices. Its body writhing, it flung itself toward him in one last effort to reach him and injure him, even as it’s strength was fading.

Tobbi stopped it in its tracks with a solid punch to its jaw, then he threw it on the floor, placing his good foot down upon its cranium. Slowly adding pressure, savoring the moment until the inevitable POP!

The Shyracks defeated, Tobbi had a moment to pause and gather his breath. As he did he’d notice something, that the only thing he heard was his own breathing. Outside the sounds of the furor between the Tuk’ata and Shyracks was gone. It was silent out there. He had a chance, a small one, to escape the confines of the closet.

Tobbi went to the door and opened it a smidge. There was nothing there.....It was silent...eerily silent.
Tobbi was hesitant to leave the closet, afraid that would something would ambush him once he left. But that's when it hit him, a sudden calling, it was as if his mind had channeled a new frequency of the force. He had to find whatever was calling him.

Akin to moth searching for a fire to worship, Tobbi not only left the closet with no hesitation but he also left the room and into the open corridors.

Righthand Main Corridor, First Floor, Sith Academy, Korriban

A glow drifted by Tobbi as he entered the corridor. It drifted past, a somewhat humanoid form in the glow. It passed quickly enough that he couldn’t make out the actual figure, the first few times it passed, but left a chill that told of the grave and the deep Dark. A haunting, whispering laugh trailed after the figure with each pass.

This only made Tobbi lurch through the ruins, trying to follow the sensation, the glow. He only did so, even given the anxiety the glowing form brought because it had the same ‘taste’ as the calling that had come to his mind. It drew him through the corridor, down a smaller side corridor and into the main atrium. And there it disappeared.

For several long minutes he was alone, except for the whispers of the fauna of Korriban moving about inside the Academy’s ruins. And then he shivered, the glow passing directly through him. The disgust, the apathy toward the living, the annoyance at the disturbance he felt from the glow almost caused him to bolt. Until the glow turned and resolved into a figure.

    Lord Aloysius Kallig

A hissing, breathy voice sounded, “My descendent brought my remains here and interred me in the Valley of the Dark Lords for this…”

He stared at Tobbi, power and darkness radiating from him, “The Sith have fallen so far that even the appearance of a Peon rouses me from my slumber. Why have you come, Peon? Why have you disturbed my rest?”

    COMBO with the illustrious GMs

Tobbi was confounded by the ghost but he kneeled before it, instantly recognizing it as a Sith Lord. By how many generations he knew not but the power was there, and it demanded respect.

"I have come hoping to prove myself more than a peon m'lord and I'm here to pass the trial given to me by my superiors."

The dark, whispering chuckle sounded once more. “How do you intend to prove that? You already have part of a Tuk’ata stuck in your foot.”

It drifted around him where he knelt. Its power washed over him, evaluating him, reaching into him to discover more about him. “No Tulak Hord are you, or Naga Sadow, not yet. But I do sense three others still outside, not yet having entered. You have though, so that is a beginning.”

"M'lord with all due respect doesn't my injury prove my commitment to the Sith. I understand that I'm not as great as Sadow, or Horde but I am willing to be." Tobbi's voice got progressively louder as he went on, "I want to be the greatest Peon this order has ever seen and rise through the ranks!"

Kallig stated dryly, “You’ll go far, in pieces, if you raise your voice to a Sith Lord, Peon.”

The datapad chose that moment to activate. A holo appeared in the gloom of the atrium. It was looking at Tobbi, “The day is en…” it began before it stopped, turning and looking at the spirit.

It bowed for a moment, “Lord Kallig, your presence is an honor. The Peon has a task before him, as I am sure you are aware. He will leave the Academy in peace when he finishes his mission.”

A sense of amusement radiated from the spirit. “Sith, your Peon has awoken me, I am sure the remainder will awaken others should they enter the Academy. But he may complete his task, although I shall be watching.”

The figure bowed once more then turned back to Tobbi, “Peon, the day is ending, your time is running out before the item you seek shifts its position in the Academy.”

Tobbi held the datapad and bowed before the figure who appeared on the holo. "Yes sir...I will hurry." The figure nodded and Tobbi knew what this meant he had to hurry. He needed to find the artifact. This realization knocked reality back into Tobbi's head, had he raised his voice at a Sith Lord?! Not to mention that Tobbi knew who this was he had to remedy this immediately.

Tobbi prostrated on the floor, "Forgive my impetuousness. For I am a peon and I should know better. I know who you are, you're the ancestor of Darth Nox, Tulak Horde's general Lord Kalig. What do you want with a peon like me?" After that statement, a thought occurred to him and he prostrated further his forehead touching the floor. "May you show me where the artifact is my lord? For I am but a lowly peon and clueless to the dark arts."

The holo figure nodded, then disappeared. Kallig chuckled, dryly, “Your Overseer seems a ‘friendly’ one. Now get up off the floor, Peon. You do not do anyone any good, crouching down there. And think. What do you know of the Academy? Where do you think the Sith of old would have kept items related to their choice of path to walk as a Sith?”

The spirit wandered over to the jagged, broken off the spire of the obelisk that dominated the center of the room, one hand tracing the hieroglyphs on its surface. “Use that mind you must have, Peon, if you’re to survive and think your way through this.”

Tobbi took Kalig's suggestion and got up off of the floor, then he thought to himself for a bit pondering the old lord's words. Now it made sense, for a sorcerer three possibilities, existed for its location; a library, laboratory, or alchemy room. Next, assassins, where would they be, maybe an obstacle course of some kind? Well, that question didn't matter too much as after this whole ordeal Tobbi knew what he really wanted to be. A Warrior, and there's only one place that crossed his mind, he knew a warrior would spend the most time in a sparring room, right? Tobbi looked at the datapad,

the young peon figured that he might as well try the biggest room on the 1st floor, seeing as it was connected to two different other rooms, couldn't hurt to see.

Kallig watched the Peon move off, into the hallway leading to the training room. As the figure disappeared into the gloom a second figure stepped from around the destroyed obelisk. It moved up beside the spirit, senses following the young human. A muffled snort came from beneath the hood of the black cloak it wore.

Kallig turned toward the figure, “Sith, that was well done with the holo. What is your thought of this peon, of this current crop of them?”

The same voice that had spoken to Tobbi came from the hood, low so that it did not carry. “He wishes to be a warrior. And has that straightforward mind of one. Which will serve him well, should he escape this maze.”

Kallig snorted this time, “And the others?”

Turning its head toward the entry of the Academy the figure shrugged. “If they begin their journey we shall see…”

In the hall, it was dark and quiet. Tobbi found tracks of Tuk’ata but none fresh. A dim glow came from the corridor leading to the room he was headed for, different from that of Kallig. When he turned down that corridor, the glow came more into focus, a sullen red glow around a dagger that was planted tip down in a short column, in the middle of the training room.

Tobbi looked at the dagger, feeling a sense of relief, having to go through so much for such a small ornamental dagger. But Tobbi could tell that it had so much force energy within, he picked up the dagger and clipped it to his belt. Immediately turned his head looking for a way out of this maze.

A deep chuckle sounded from the darkness of the walkway above the training floor. “Did you believe your Lords would make your quest this simple?” A surge in the Force came from that patch of darkness and the energy that had filled the dagger flowed up before a figure leaped from that point, landing soundlessly on the floor.

“Feel the power of that trinket now, little one,” it said as it lowered the hood of its grey cloak. An electro staff came out from under the material as the cloak fell to the floor, revealing a lean, elf-like humanoid. White hair draped over its shoulders, before flaring out as it slid into a battle stance.

Another chuckle, ‘Defeat me and I’ll tell you where the true artifact you need is.”

Tobbi didn't even have a retort, he didn't have the time nor patience, all he wanted to find the artifact and leave. Anyone who impeded his goal had to die. So he eyed the new being that stood in front of him now, circling around it. Suspicious Tobbi unclipped the dagger from his belt and wielded it in his right while he held the electrosaber in his left.

Tobbi throw the dagger at the being and rushed forward as best as one could do with one good foot.

The Sephi moved, weaved to the side as the dagger came in, deflecting it upward as Tobbi rushed forward. He slid to the side, spinning, the staff barely moving as it contacted the tip of the saber, assisting Tobbi in his rush.

Completing the spin and turning back toward Tobbi, reaching up and plucking the hilt of the dagger from the air as it fell back down to his grasp. A flick of his wrist and it flew at the claw stuck in Tobbi’s foot, the Sephi crouching slightly now, staff behind his back, one arm forward, a little ‘come on’ flick of his fingers.

Tobbi deflected the dagger aimed towards his foot, he sighed, relieved that he managed to do so in time. The young peon reflected on the transaction that took place, making a full hypothesis on the opponent's capabilities.

This guy uses the staff well and incorporates force powers in his exchanges, a clear tenant of Niman. He also moves with grace but doesn't control the centerline of battle, preferring to sidestep me entirely but not in an overzealous way like a form 4 user. Probably trained in Makashi but as a supplemental form, Niman is clearly his bread and butter. So if I keep up the pressure he could crumble.

Tobbi used the force to retrieve his dagger and repeated the same actions he took earlier, he took the dagger and threw it at the being but this time he rushed forward with his electroblade aimed low hoping to score a blow on the man's leg. To Tobbi this plan was fool-proof. If the man dodged the dagger Tobbi could land a hit but if the man jumped over Tobbi he would be skewered by the dagger.

The Sephi laughed, leaping over the electroblade, the dagger shuddering to a halt before a raised hand. He let it drop as he flipped over backwards and landed nimbly on the column the dagger had been planted in.

“You have talent, little one, my turn…” he murmured and then he leaped, foot kicking off of the tip of Tobbi’s electoblade, spinning, heel toward the side of his helmet. Using that momentum he spun off and to the side of the young human, before taking a step back, spinning the saber, before unlatching it in the middle and taking a saber apiece in each hand.

The kick rocked Tobbi's helmet forcing the peon to spin in place for a second but he recovered quickly,
    "TCH!"
Tobbi sucked his teeth in frustration. This guy was full of surprises,

So he has trained in Ataru, he just uses it in bursts. But using Jar'kai instead of the staff sacrifices leverage, strength, and defense for speed and unpredictability. So he plans on speed-blitzing me into submission then, taking advantage of my compromised agility. It's a pain but it only confirms my hypothesis, he's trying his hardest to avoid an engagement of strength.

Tobbi resolute in his plans charges forward at the being, keeping his Electroblade tight to the chest, he was going to batter this man into submission. He needed to finish this quickly, he was running out of time!

The Sephi leaped high, flipping through the air as Tobbi charged. His saber locked back together and as he flew over the Peon’s head, a brace of daggers flew from his fingers arrowing straight down at him. He spun again, in the air, landing on his feet, then raced forward, the saber tracing a figure-eight design as he charged Tobbi’s back.

Tobbi was dumbfounded, the being was radically changing up his style, why? As Tobbi turned around his eyes grew wide and his heart quickened as he gazed upon the sight of the daggers raining down upon him, he quickly used the force to change the trajectory of the daggers away from him. But as Tobbi looked down the figure was already upon him, his twin-blades configurated back into Saberstaff. Tobbi was relieved as he brought up the electrosaber in time to guard a would-be devastating attack. Seeing this blade lock as an opportunity Tobbbi threw a punch at the being's jaw.

The hit connected, rocking the Sephi’s head back. He kept the blade lock and grinned, a rivulet of blood trailing down from his lip. And then his knee came up between Tobbi’s legs in a swift strike. As his leg came back down, he pushed off in the lock, breaking contact and grinning. Spitting out a mouthful of blood his teeth shone a reddish color in the lights of the sabers, “Tell that ancient vampire he owes me if I lose a tooth.”

Spinning the double saber once again, in spin after spin, picking up speed until it was a blur, he advanced on Tobbi, switching from hand to hand, until the blade, came flashing down at the crown of Tobbi’s helmet. At the same time, he aimed a swift kick at the inside of the knee, of the same leg that had the Tuk’ata claw in its foot.

Tobbi blocked the strike aimed at his helmet but failed to perceive the kick aimed at the kick for the inside of his knee.

    CRACK!

But it did not break it was as if by some miracle of the force that his leg hadn't given out on him and shattered to pieces. But what if it wasn't the force, what if instead, it was nothing but the sheer force of will exerted by Tobbi.

    "UROOOOOAAAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOGH!!!!!!!"

Tobbi yawped like a madman, a barbarian hefting a cudgel. He wasn't the same Tobbi that entered the academy, this was something else, something darker.

    "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA- URRRRORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORGH!!!!!"

Tobbi started to laugh? He just kept laughing and laughing and laughing. Reaching into darker and darker and darker lows but riding the deeper and deeper and deeper highs. Tobbi felt conscious in his mind but his body and his vocals spelled otherwise. Tobbi felt relaxed inside the black void of his psyche, free from all the pain, all the stress, he just gave in to his impetuousness, yes he gave in to complete instinct.

The Sephi stepped back, a dark smile on his face, “Yes...yes, drink in the darkness, the emotion of the Dark Side. Break your chains, set yourself free.”

He crouched for a moment then leaped, flipping once more, his sabers deactivating as he did. Landing back in the darkness of the walkway the voice carried out into the training room. “You had the right idea, little Peon. The warrior would place their token in a training room. But you forget something. The ground floor of the Academy was the place the lowest would stay. An ‘Overseer’ would not place their token where only the lowest would find it.”

Another chuckle sounded from the Darkness, “I will be watching your path, young one.”

As the specter disappeared Tobbi breathed in and out, then in and out once more. The pain was gone, he checked on his leg to see if it was still there, and sure enough, it was, even the Tuk'ata's paw was still logged in his foot but it didn't bother him...Curious. Tobbi wasn't even afraid anymore, he felt like he was an apex predator, a shark among a school of fish...Was Tobbi finally tapping into the full power of the dark side? Because if he was then man it felt good.

Tobbi echoed the words of the specter in his mind, “You had the right idea, little Peon. The warrior would place their token in a training room. But you forget something. The ground floor of the Academy was the place the lowest would stay. An ‘Overseer’ would not place their token where only the lowest would find it.”

Tobbi realized where he had to go. The only place of importance that was left for Tobbi was the 2nd floor. Where would the stairs be? Tobbi pulled out the datapad and examined the rooms. Ah of course the main room! Tobbi was already there but the Shyracks and Tuk'kata drove him into the closet so he didn't focus on it.

Tobbi left the sparring room and walked the hallways, following it back to the main room. From there he found and took the stairs leading to the second floor.

    .
Tobbi's now honed instincts carried him throughout the 2nd floor until he was finally outside the overseer's office.

    Name: Hanzo Oni
    Sex: Male
    Age: Early thirties
    Species: Human
Homeworld: Unknown, assumed to be one with high human population
    Height: 6' 1"
    Weight: 185lbs
Physical attributes: Hanzo is a lean, mean, killing machine. He trained for years as a fighter with a splinter group of Mandalorians, who found him alone at the age of 6. However, by 17, Hanzo heavily disliked many Mandalorian ways. The brother-like bond that many Mandalorians had repulsed him, and Hanzo left them so he could focus solely on his strength alone.

These years with the Mandalorians taught him a great deal about weapons, specifically close-combat, which Hanzo specialized in. He is proficient in using throwing knives, and has reached near mastery with his sword made of beskar. He is also excellent in hand-to-hand combat situations.
Clothing: Robes as seen in the picture above
Abilities: Excellent combat abilities, but severely lacking in the force aspect. Hanzo can pull off a force push at best, but it takes effort.
    Weapons/tools:
Currently equipped: Academy issued electroblade and armour.
In storage: A finely balanced sword made of beskar, four vibroblades hidden in his clothing, a handful of throwing knives, and bandages to wrap around his hands for fighting.Occupation/Title: Peon of the Sith Empire
Biography: Hanzo was found at the age of 6 by Mandalorians, but in all honesty, he cares little about this time in his life. Yes, they managed to teach him a good bit about fighting, which he appreciates, and he still has honor in a fight, but why care about the past?

Hanzo sees only the future. He made his way to the Sith some few years ago after travelling the galaxy as a wandering soul, picking up a few bounties and smuggling jobs here and there. All this was to put food on the table. A few years ago he was nearly pushed off the edge after he caught his loved one in bed with his old friend. No worries to him, though. They're both dead, but he lost his eye in the process.

Now he has joined the New Sith Empire as a peon. Embarrassing, but worth his time. Perhaps he can learn a bit about this force he discovered he had, or even improve his impeccable combat abilities.

He is ambitious and somewhat insane, and has a dangerous obsession with murder.

    Name: Claiomh Solais

Age: Appears in her 20s, but her actual age is unknown.

    Species: Appears Human

Homeworld: Depends on what you call home.

Personal effects: Flowing asymmetrical black and red robes.

Armor: Light armor, black with red embellishments.

    Height: 5’5

    Weight: 130

Physical Attributes: Athletic with jade green eyes. Very long orange-red hair that she keeps in a braided bun. Her skin is unusually pale and while her robes cover her arms and legs she has lightsaber burn scars and bladed weapon scars. While she looks completely human, there is something strangely different about her, but its hard to put a finger on it. Even her scars look more like ritualistic markings than normal scars.

Personality: Driven, ambitious, and proud. Her enemies, if any were alive, would call her cunning. Her friends, if she had any, would call her intense. Her teachers and trainers put more than one scar on her back for disobedience. The few who knew her kindness never forgot her name, and the many who knew her vengeance - chanted it for one breath.

Abilities: Basic Force skills, a Peon level knowledge of them

    Weapons/Tools: Two electro blades

As the shuttle rumbled along, Claiomh expanded her awareness. She could sense the terrain, but her mind was clouded. The interference kept her from understanding what she perceived even though she was perceiving it. This annoyed her.

The blindfold kept her from seeing and she couldn’t hear what the others were talking about, if anyone in fact was talking. That didn’t mean much to her.

Once the shuttle came to a stop and she exited the vehicle. She could feel the presence of three others around her. Once the blindfolds were removed her head cleared as if mist was aggressively blown by a fierce wind.

Through the Force, and her eyes, she could feel the landscape yawning out in all directions. Her eyes saw the shifting sands, reaching cliffs, rolling hills, and temples who presence seemed to displace the very air.

    She had been here before.

In addition to the landscape, there was an unmistakable sense of the place. It was like none other. It was Korriban.

Claiomh watches as one, then another left immediately for the task at hand. She was unhurried. She would make her move on her terms.

She took in the sight around her. Red sands and the ruins of the Sith Academy. Claiomh took a step towards its yawning entrance. While it’s presence could instill many feelings in people from fear to hate, to absolute terror. Claiomh felt none of these. Instead she looked upon the once great academy with longing and sadness.

Once the epicenter of the highest forms of learning and a breath away from the mysteries of the tombs of the Sith Lords. The adventure and romance of the place that once permeated the very air, now wavered as memories upon the sand’s shifting shadows.

Claiomh sighed and reached for her vibroblades. She frowned at it. The weapon felt dead in her hand. The Sith wanted lightsabers - living Kybers within. Unfortunately she wouldn’t have time to attempt to imbue them with the Force, so simple vibroblades they would probably remain.

Looking ahead she takes another few steps towards the entrance, for the first time since arriving she speaks

“I’m ready, what is it I’m here to find?”

Entrance to the Ruins of the Sith Academy, Korriban
Top of the stairs leading inside

The second Peon made her move, reached the top of the stairs. When she arrived on the broad platform before the entrance to the ruins, a flat plate set upon the ground glittered and then burst into a larger than life hologram.

There are several of these items located around the ruined Academy.” Its head suddenly moved, the hidden face obviously now looking directly at Claiomh’s.

“You are known, as I said. You are said to be a Maurauder. Therefore there is but one item you must retrieve before you may exit the Academy. But let it be known that those that are absolutely certain of their path are, on occasion, those that find that path wandering. In the Academy, that would be...unwise. But who am I to tell you what to do inside? I am merely the guide and instructor.” The figure’s hidden gaze seemed to find enjoyment in the Peon potentially forever wandering the halls.

Upon the second level, the damage is similar, both chambers on the left and the bottom one on the right side of the map are destroyed, but the chambers you need are not those, this time. And,” in the darkness of the entryway, just beyond it, came the sound of multiple hisses, “the destruction is not all you face.”

The hologram cast its gaze up into the sky, then looked back down at Claiomh, “You have no time limit to find your item but trust me when I say that your progress is being monitored.”

    Hanzo Oni
    Korriban, Sith Academy

The noise was unbearable. Hanzo Oni, the new Peon of the Sith Empire, clutched his head in agony as confusion and pain stabbed into his mind. A blindfold had been forced over his head, and he had no clue where he was. He knew something had changed as he felt a guiding hand moving him along... somewhere... Then, his blindfold and the chaos in his mind disappeared.

He blinked a few times, readjusting himself to the change in light. He heeded the words of the Overseers ahead of him. In truth, he had absolutely no idea what this place was... but the scent of death intrigued him.

Maybe I'll get a decent fight out of this...

The Overseers turned and headed back into the shuttle, before it took off and left the peons alone in this strange new place...

    "Tch..."

Hanzo trudged through the open ruins, towards a large set of steps.

    Guess I'll go there first...

He made his way towards the stairs, slowly and deliberately. He kept an eye on his surroundings, ignoring the other peons. They would, most likely, slow him down rather then help. He noticed a bit of wildlife here and there. Nothing worthy to fight just yet...

He sighed, shaking his head and hawked, spitting phlegm onto the ground.

What a drag. Sending me to this old dump.

Worst of all, his own clothes and weapons were stashed away somewhere, leaving him with the stupid outfits they'd given the peons. Maybe the test was to see who could wear the dumb armour the best? Unlikely, but one could never push these possibilities out of their minds.

He forced his feet up the stairs, hands stuffed in pockets and hunched over looking like a delinquent. Finally, he was at the top of the steps. He scratched the side of his nose, and then tapped his chin. So this was the place he was supposed to navigate... He looked around, hoping that there was some kind of map to be found...

Entrance to the Ruins of the Sith Academy, Korriban
Top of the stairs leading inside

Another Peon began to move from the group, reached the top of the stairs.

There are several of these items located around the ruined Academy.” Its head suddenly moved, the hidden face obviously now looking directly at Hanzo’s.

“You are known, as I said. You have been tested as to what path you desire. You have chosen one, decided how you wish to proceed. The ruins can and will be a treacherous maze and it is easy to get lost.. In there, that would be...unwise. But who am I to tell you what to do inside? I am merely the guide and instructor.” The figure’s hidden gaze seemed to find enjoyment in the Peon potentially forever wandering the halls.

Upon the second level, the damage is similar, both chambers on the left and the bottom one on the right side of the map are destroyed, but the chambers you need are not those, this time. And,” in the darkness of the entryway, just beyond it, came the quiet susurrus of almost silent movement, little taps on the stone, “the destruction is not all you face.”

The hologram cast its gaze up into the sky, then looked back down at Hanzo, “You have no time limit to find your item but trust me when I say that your progress is being monitored.”

Claiomh tilts her head as the hologram of the figure speaks. It wasn’t that she didn’t understand. After the image vanishes, she stands for a moment. Spins the vibroblade, even with the power off it whistles as she limbers up her wrists and arms.

“Those who have a path wander. No...what was it,” she mutters. “People who are sure they wander have paths. Mmmm.” That wasn’t it either.

As she approaches the entrance her mind still chews on what the teacher had said. “The paths wander around people who are sure.”

She looks down the dark entrance and cautiously enters. Expanding her senses, she feels for any sign of trouble. A sensitive web to which she was the spider. “The paths of the many wander because a few are focused. Ack, that’s even further away from what he said.”

Her footsteps half echo in the space. Her boots crunching on the stones and pebbles that litter the floor. Remembering the map she heads for the right, searching for the entrance of the first room that wasn’t crushed.

Main Atrium, ruins of the Sith Academy, Korriban

As the Peon entered the Academy, her eyes had to adjust to the dim light that abruptly began as soon as she passed under the lip of stone that covered the main entryway. As they did, she made her way along, the intermittent hissing coming from various spots around her. She was left alone by whatever was now living here as she made her way through the entry corridor and into the Main Atrium.

The residual light of a dim blue glow was still fading as she did, casting a little extra light until it too disappeared. Shafts of dim light peaked from holes that now dotted the ceiling of the Atrium, casting pools of the same light on the floor, shadows around them. Smaller, swiftly moving shadows began to appear and dart through the light and back into the shadows as she made her way toward the corridor leading to the undamaged rooms.

Halfway through the Atrium the hissing sounds picked up, seeming to echo around the space, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly where the sound was coming from. The sound of claws scrabbling on stone began to grow in volume.

She entered the corridor leading to the long corridor that the rooms were off of when it happened…

Dull thumps sounded before and behind her, multiple ones, and the hissing grew even louder. And then one of the creatures making the sound stepped into view, a hssiss.

Both directions of the corridor were blocked by the creatures, two before her and two behind her. They had laid their trap and now she was in it…

The ‘Overseer’s Office, Second Level, Sith Academy Ruins, Korriban

Tobbi had thought through the clues, had realized the truth of where the token was that he needed to acquire and was now standing outside the door to the office. It was shut, closed to his ability to open so he knocked. A deep, rumbling voice, carrying harmonics in the Force replied, “Enter.”

The door cracked open and as it did an almost physically palpable wave of dark side energy washed out of the room beyond. Pushing the door further open revealed very little. It was dark, the only noise that of a being breathing. Tobbi stepped through the door and as he did the ambient light stayed low but a single spotlight began to shine.

In the middle of the training room was a waist tall bench, one figure, dressed in his robes, hood thrown back stood behind it. His red and black skin shone as the light rose in that one spot. His crown of horns was the last needed to reveal that a tall, well built Zabrak stood there. Given the Sith Order and its components this Zabrak could be only one being. High Lord Manticore himself was standing before him.

One of the High Lord’s hand was on the table, the sound of metal sliding coming from the surface. As Tobbi approached he would see that there was a plainly decorated lightsaber handle there, that the Lord was idly spinning on the tabletop. Lord Manticore’s eyes lifted from his bored reverie as he spun the weapon, piercing into the eyes of the Peon.

“Peon, I have been made aware you believe yourself to be a Warrior.”

A dark throaty chuckle left the zabrak, even as his arms were folded over his chest. The lightsaber hilt continued to spin on the tabletop, as if in perpetual motion.

“So what would you do…” Lord Manticore began, his fiery eyes taking the measure of the peon before him. His voice stern, commanding attention.

“...If you came to a field and encountered three enemies. One was large, wielding a Vibro Axe, the second would be some distance behind, holding a blaster in hand, while the third, simply carried a satchel.”

He paused for a moment, allowing the peon to visualize the scene.

“Tell me, who would you kill first and why?”

OOC: Combo with the illustrious GMs

IC: Tobbi, Lord Manticore, The guide

Location: The ‘Overseer’s Office, Second Level, Sith Academy Ruins, Korriban

Tobbi awed at the blood-red Zabrak that stood before him now, he was muscular and covered in what Tobbi could only assume to be lightsaber scars. If the path of a warrior was a drug this Zabrak was addicted to it.

Tobbi snapped back to reality and bowed before the dark Zabrak," Of course, I would kill the one with the satchel first. They are an unknown element, a wild card if you will. This way I can focus on the two warriors whose weapon capabilities I am familiar with and formulate a plan accordingly."

The peon spoke his mind, then silence followed. Lord Manticore merely regarded the peon, appraising him with discerning scrutiny. Upon the tabletop, the lightsaber hilt continued to spin unimpeded.

The moment stretched between the two. Tobbi had not wavered in his answer, nor did he back-track because of doubt. Finally, the Zabrak nodded, albeit slowly.

"Good." He rasped as if reaching a decision.

"The one with the satchel is their medic. Their weakest link on the combat field. The other two will not simply stand-by and award you success, on the contrary, they will do all they can to prevent such an outcome. How would you go about it?"

"The one that wields the blaster is the key to my success." Tobbi responded "The one with the Satchel may be the weakest link however the long-range for is the easiest to be manipulated. There are numerous ways to go about this,

    • Option 1, telekinetically force the long-range foe to fire upon his Vibro-ax brethren. While the two are busy sorting out the confusion I will break the medics using the force and by the time the two remaining foes regain their senses, their medic will be dead.
    • Option 2, Draw the Vibro-axe warrior in the long-range fighter's line of sight, preventing him from taking an accurate shot at me without killing his comrade from there I will further manipulate the ax warrior and cause him to kill his own medic by violently pulling the Medic in-between the ax's blows, using him as a meatshield.
    • Option 3, The cruelest by far, and my favorite use the blaster foe to gun down the medic, then use his gun to fire upon his Ax wielding comrade, that's when I'll quickly break the gunner's neck."

Tobbi would be able to notice a smirk appear upon the Zabrak's countenance.

"I see you have a mind for combat, peon....." the Zabrak observed.

"That will serve you well in your trials ahead." another nod is given.

"The question remains, are you capable enough?" The smirk widens slightly before it slowly begins to disappear.
Tobbi looked up at the Zabrak master as he wondered how many more trials were left not that he dreaded them of course for some reason this trial awakened a new side to him.

"You honor me my lord and I hope to prove that in the trials ahead. Now, where would I find this artifact that the spirits of old Sith Lords keep talking about?"

"Where, indeed...." The Zabrak rasped, a hint of dark amusement was evident in his voice.

"...that answer, you will earn, peon." A glint shone in Lord Manticore's fiery gaze. "Your chance to prove yourself is now."

There was no gesture or word. From the tabletop, the lightsaber hilt suddenly flew directly towards Tobbi, even as it spun end over end.

The saber flared to life as it nestled into Tobbi's palm. A light green blade of light sprang into existence, the kyber inside fighting his essence as it sat in his hand. The sound of a footstep sounded in the room, a third person was there...

The hooded shape that had previously appeared to him only in hologram entered the spotlight, taking a spot by the left-hand side of the High Lord, as though a trusted advisor or that of a war-bond, one trusted to defend the Battlemaster's 'weak' side. It turned, bowing to the Zabrak, before turning back toward Tobbi. The face beneath the hood was still in shadow, the voice that came from it was flat, toneless, "You have received a gift from the High Lord, Peon, but it is incomplete."

A low, equally toneless chuckle sounded from under the hood, "The Kyber has not been bled, the blade is still pure. But you have no time to do so, you have not earned your token, not yet. The High Lord has a further task for you." The figure fell silent, arms crossed, darkened hood facing Tobbi, as though looking through him.

The Zabrak acknowledged the hooded figure with a solid nod, observing the interaction until it was his turn to speak once again. That this moment reminded him of his own trials so long ago, was something to be internally acknowledged. Still, it was too soon for conclusions.

"Well, peon. The next task is quite simple."

Tobbi would feel menace begin to radiate from the High Lord, the likes that eclipsed everything he'd felt before.

"All you have to do is one thing..." Manticore's fiery gaze remained fixed on the peon as he rolled his shoulder and neck. His dark intent was channeled with raw clarity through the force.

    "Survive."

In a blink of an eye, the High Lord produced his own lightsaber hilt and ignited it, releasing its fearsome vermillion blade, a symbol of his indomitable fury.

Tobbi instinctively raised his lightsaber in a guard position, the menace from the Zabrak sent chills down his spine. This was it. A battle against a legitimate Sith Lord, an actual physical one not a specter.

Tobbi smiled, he was eager to learn the forms employed by the Sith Lord but there was no fear to be found. Tobbi felt the aura of the Darkside fill him with confidence but he tempered it with focus, as the possibility of a gruesome death was still on the table and Tobbi was determined to not only survive but impress his superiors.

The ‘Overseer’s’ Office, Second Level, Sith Academy Ruins, Korriban

The ambient light of the office lifted slightly, allowing the edges of the room to be seen. As it came up, it became evident that the floor of the room was empty, save for the table which was, even now, descending into the floor. Higher up was a catwalk upon which the Sith spirit he’d seen earlier paced. In another corner of the catwalk, the Sephi he’d fought crouched on the railing, a grin upon his face. The dark robed Guide nodded once more to the High Lord then leaped, faster and higher than it seemed possible, flipping and landing without a sound on the catwalk near the Sephi.

As Tobbi got a chance to take in the room he saw that the walls were smooth hewn stone, covered in Sith glyphs that glowed a faint red. The floor was smooth as well, but not slick, with a little give to it, as a training sallé would have. The door behind him shut, silently, then clicked as it locked. He had not planned to back out, he’d not come this far to fail at this hurdle, but he was now locked in with at least four powerful beings, one of which was standing before him, about to introduce him to his form of battle.

The saber whined and attempted to turn in his hand, unwilling to do battle, fighting his will. The kyber inside, while unable to speak obviously did not want to serve a Sith, peon or not. Not only would he have to fight a Sith Battlemaster but he’d have to fight his blade as well. The Sephi above chuckled, the others could sense the dual battle about to happen, “Don’t die little Peon, I have credits riding on this.” it taunted.

The Guide lifted a finger and a small ball of an almost black purple color dropped from the extended fingertip. It drifted down toward the floor, and when it touched the floor a hollow sound echoed in the room as it disappeared…

The hollow sound made Tobbi twitch and tighten his grip on the lightsaber. His guard was so tight and stiff that it could probably turn coal into diamonds. That's when his saber whined again Tobbi hadn't realized that lightsaber crystals could become sentient. The saber kept moving inches out of position, sometimes it even jerked a little, constantly vibrating in his palm, defiance to Tobbi's will.

    "Stupid piece of junk!"
Tobbi expelled his frustration. With this disadvantage, Tobbi thought it best to take the initiative instead of waiting around. So Tobbi leaped onto the catwalk to meet the Zabrak, being on the defensive would merely delay the inevitable.

Leaning from a shadow behind the man, his breath touched the ear as he spoke.

    “Going somewhere? Or perhaps, staying?”

He vanished into the dark as abruptly.

Tobbi reflexly jumped off the scaffolding, that was definitely a new voice, just how many spirits inhabit this temple?

Tobbi had a thought that made his blood run cold, Just how many people are watching me right now?

From the ground, the Zabrak observed the peon's reaction. Was he attempting to flee or merely create some tactical distance? It was hard to tell.

With a languid gesture, Manticore caused the scaffolding all round the peon to fold in-on-itself, the metal cried out in protest, and then collapse, even as he held his position, undisturbed.

"If you are showcasing your ability to run, then consider me unimpressed."

Another negligent gesture. This time to cause Tobbi to miss his landing perch and fall.

Tobbi watched as the Zabrak easily crushed scaffolding. Well, there goes the high ground.

As Tobbi tried to land on the perch below him he realized that it wasn't there anymore. Think Tobbi think!

Tobbi tilted himself downwards and used the force to cushion the impact of his fall, using the momentum to somersault on the floor.

The timing has to be just right! C'mon Tobbi you can do this remember training.

As Tobbi continued to roll he waited for his feet to be planted on the floor, once they were he infused the energy of the for into his leg muscles causing him to leap up with incredible speed. Once at the climax of his height, he angled his blade downward and let gravity add weight to
    his maneuver.

The Zabrak's fiery eyes were fixed on the Peon as he was allowed to complete the maneuver. Manticore raised his blade in time to block the Peon's downward strike while he was still in mid-air. However, he also shoved at the moment of impact, fully intending to throw-off the peon's landing, even as he took a seamless stride forward while performing a diagonal strike to his opponent's midsection.

Tobbi felt the shove of the battle-hardened Zabrak, despite it being just a mere tiny thrust, it was enough to throw off Tobbi's landing trajectory. That's when he saw the battle master's lightsaber aimed right towards his midsection, and Tobbi felt the Sith's intention, his malice, his bloodlust, he really wanted to cut Tobbi in two. The peon desperately aimed the emerald lightsaber to defend his stomach but it rejected his command as it zagged at the critical moment, leaving the tip of the red lightsaber to scrape against the side of his body.

Tobbi grunted but he didn't scream, he felt the burn but the pain didn't cause his mind to frenzy. The Darkside had given him clarity, it had given him focus.

    CRASH!

Tobbi's altered trajectory had caused him to crash against the wall. The various pictures that hung on the wall crashed all around him causing the glass to skitter all across the floor. Tobbi slowly rose to his feet, amazed at the ease the Zabrak countered his training move, his best move. Tobbi couldn't even appraise the skills of the Sith Lord, it was a continuous mixing of styles one that he's never seen before. Next to be observed was his lightsaber, this blasted thing was constantly acting against him, it wanted him to be killed!

Tobbi tightened the grip on his saber and shook it. "YOU WILL FOLLOW MY COMMAND YOU PIECE OF JUNK!!"

"Pour your Will into it, peon...." Manticore commanded. The Zabrak's eyes seemed to glow like burning embers, like sparks ready to ignite a blast furnace.

    "...or you will surely die."

There was no pity in the Sith Lord's tone, as he took one step after another, slowly closing the gap between himself and Tobbi. The Sith Lord's vermillion lightsaber hummed dangerously, as it now pointed forward, with the tip low.

Tobbi saw the Dark monster coming, and it was coming to kill him, if Tobbi couldn't complete this next task he was going to die, either by the Sith or his own blade. Tobbi gripped his blade harder, so much harder than he had ever grip anything in his life, panic was starting to set in.

"YOU WILL NOT BE MY DOWNFALL. I HAVE WORKED TOo HARD AND SUFFERED TOO MUCH!!!!"

The lightsaber continued to vibrate, acting defiantly against his will as it whined.

    "URRRRROOOOOOOAOOAOAAOAOAOAOAOOAOAOAOAOAOAOAGH!!!!!!"

Tobbi yelled as loud as he could, he put everything he had into this yell, into his grip yet vibrations of the green saber felt like pins and needles, numbing his arm, it hoped this will make the peon lose focus but Tobbi wouldn't allow it. Images of his life started circulating in his mind, reminding him of why he fights of why he continues despite existence being full of pain, misery, and let-downs.

It was because he was born into this world, the sole fact that he merely existed drove his ambitions and he was going to keep on living, making the most of the one life he had. And use it to propel himself into greatness as any Sith would. All because he was born into this world.

The Sephi chuckled, dropping to the undamaged portion of the catwalk and strolling over to the Guide. He bumped the side of the cloaked figure, barely making it sway. “He better last more than five minutes, I have 50,000 credits riding on the fact that he does.”

The Guide barely swayed at the touch, a dark chuckle joining that of the Sephi. The spirit of Kallig swept across the space, ending up on the other side of the Guide, “Sith, your Peon shows heart but he will have to show much more if he is to stand against the Battlemaster.”

The Guide himself stayed silent, although he did nod deeply in the direction the voice that had startled Tobbi had come from. He glanced down at the tableau before him. He knew that Lord Manticore was allowing the Peon to demonstrate all that he knew and would only allow him to take it that far before he truly demonstrated what a warrior was among the Sith. Raising his voice for a moment, “Peon, you head your former opponent, you now have less than four minutes before he wins his bet. But that will be void if you do not fight with all you have. And you will not receive your token if you do not.”
