IIRC, people were working on backing up the whole JC independently before we Moved. Does anyone know if they were successful and if they were, who they were and who backed up what?

 

I really hope this does get fixed. I have just discovered that, by pure stupidity, I apparently no longer have a document with all of my posts from my Recollections thread. That means that, barring me finding a copy somewhere (which seems unlikely at this point) the return of those posts is the only thing that will get that stuff back for me. I particularly hate that my epic post about Wisegate might be gone. I can't figure out how I managed to lose that document; I painstakingly saved all my posts specifically so this wouldn't happen. Ah well . . . is the prevailing opinion still that they will be back eventually?

 

After I posted that, I remembered that, since I'm a mod, I could actually check for myself in the MS. I'm a real moron sometimes.

 

Is there any news on this?
Also, I'd like to volunteer to help fix this problem. I have a degree in Software Engineering and lots of free time. Oh, and I have a vested interest in making this happen as I'm really into my fanfic, so I'll keep trying until I succeed.

 

I'm sorry, but we can't have someone who's actually invested in the outcome working on the project.

I'm not sure this person knows quite what he's actually supposed to be doing and perhaps as a solution we ought to have this person replaced and then hit the big red button clearly labeled "fix truncated posts" and see if that fixe—

For some reason, I've had a recent urge to get back to the fanfic I haven't touched for the last four years. Since I've lost the Microsoft Works document that contained the whole thing, I wonder if there've been any updates on this issue?

 

There are some periodic updates on the situation. Last I recall we're waiting on... something or other on the IGN end.

 

Good luck to Mike and his colleagues on this issue. I found that the Wayback has at least one story, untruncated, so that was fun. This is it:

Is it like this, that the Wayback took a picture of the site with this page at a certain time, and this has no bearing on TFN's current truncation problems?

I have a question about the truncation of an old post. Is it possible to request a post to be fixed? I don't have a backup for it would would like to get that back if possible. Or am I just up **** creek without a paddle and will just need to wait until this is fixed?

I just wasn't sure if you could request it to be untruncated or if we were in waiting mode.
