You went to Sunday School? ;)

I get what you are saying...it is just putting what we learned into real life. NOT that has anything to do with LOST.

I did see in the preview for next week Locke crying out, I am assuming to God. What do you want me to do or something of the sort.

I find it interesting about the title Exodus. hmmmmm......

A friend of mine sent me this one. MUCH more convoluted than anything I could come up with....

    - In Born To Run, after Tom is shot, the camera focuses in on the toy plane, and we see a Minnie Mouse toy on the car seat next to the plane. Minnie Mouse is a fictional character of the Mickey Mouse universe featured in animated cartoons, comic strips and comic book by The Walt Disney Company. The comic strip story The Gleam, was published from January 19 to May 2, 1942 (42), by Merrill De Maris and Floyd Gottfredson. They first gave her full name as Minerva Mouse. Minerva has since been a recurring alias for her. Minerva was a Roman goddess of crafts and wisdom. The Romans celebrated her festival from March 19 to 23 (23). The earlier comic strip story, Mr Slicker and the Egg Robbers, published from September 22 (this is the exact day Lost premiered!) to December 26, 1930. Mickey and Minnie debuted together in Plane Crazy, first released on May 15 (15), 1928. Their next appearance in The Karnival Kid, May 23 (23), 1929, cast Mickey as a hot dog vendor and Minnie as a carnival Shimmy Dancer. Her final appearance for the year was in Wild Waves, first released on August 15 (8/15), 1929. She spends a day at the beach with Mickey. Their activities of singing and dancing are soon interrupted when Minnie is swept by a wave into the sea. She panics and seems to start drowning. Mickey uses a row boat to rescue her and return her to the shore but Minnie is still visibly shaken from the experience. Mickey starts singing the tune of Rocked in the Cradle of the Deep, a maritime ballad written in 1832 by Emma Hart Willard, who lived from February 23 (23), 1787 (1 + 7 + 8 + 7 = 23) to April 15 (15), 1870 (1 + 8 + 7 + 0 = 16).

I think some people are REALLY becoming Obsessed with these numbers. Your lists are quite impressive SS. Where did you find the time to come up with them?

By the way, I'm going down to visit my brother in the Psych ward in Peublo on Saturday. Do we need to hogtie SS and throw him in the back of my car for his own trip to the Psych ward? [face_devil]

    This was in USA Today.

    Is 'Lost' a literal enigma?
    By Ann Oldenburg, USA TODAY
    October 5, 2005

Literary references have been sprinkled throughout the mysteries of Lost: In
an episode last season, the character Sawyer was reading Watership Down by
Richard Adams, the story of rabbits searching for a safe place in a
threatening world. At another point, he read Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle
    in Time, about time travel.

Look for another literary reference ? and possibly another clue to the
    island's secret ? on tonight's Lost (ABC, 9 ET/PT).

At one point, someone will pick up a copy of the novel The Third Policeman
by the late Irish writer Flann O'Brien. The cover will be seen for about a
    second, ABC confirms.

It will be featured at a "key moment" in the show, Craig Wright, who
co-wrote the episode with Javier Grillo-Marxuach, told the Chicago Tribune.
Wright also said anyone familiar with the book will "have a lot more
    ammunition" in dissecting Lost plotlines.

Following the bread-crumb trail of clues in Lost has become a passionate
pastime, fueled further by a new season that has taken viewers down the
hatch. In lost-tv.com's Literary Mysticism area, fans already are analyzing
    The Third Policeman.

So could this be a Rosetta stone for Lost?

Neither ABC nor the scriptwriters would comment on Policeman or its relation
to the plot. But Amy Bauer, a music professor at the University of
California-Irvine who helps organize the flood of postings on lost-tv.com,
    doesn't think so.

A clue such as Policeman is "offered a bit tongue-in-cheek," she says.
"O'Brien was a brilliant comic writer, and his absurd take on the world may
be a nod to the fans who connect every item in every scene to some
    overriding scheme."

In The Third Policeman, the narrator is a man who assists in a
money-motivated killing. While trying to retrieve the stashed bounty, he
passes into a strange world, meeting bicycles, policemen and a band of
    one-legged men.

Reviewers' reactions varied widely, calling the
novel "warped," "silly," "baffling," "inventive" and "frightening."

Its surreal exploration of time, death and existence might be reflective of
what's happening on Lost, says Chad Post of publisher Dalkey Archive Press,
which is part of Illinois State University.

Speculation on The Third Policeman's cameo already has boosted sales. After
the Tribune article appeared, Dalkey sold 8,000 copies in two days, says
    Post.

O'Brien, a pseudonym for Brian O'Nolan, finished writing the book in 1940,
but it wasn't published until 1967, a year after his death. In two reissue
printings during the past six years, the book sold 15,000 copies.

I'm still curious what the other 2 literary references have to do with everything:

    Watership Down
    A Wrinkle in Time

Haven't read WD in many, many years, but I do recall it was about Bunnies looking for a home. Sorta like LOST....but with Bunnies....Enya woulda been mortified....

Stephen King was a big WD fan as well, and referenced the book in both the Stand & the Dark Tower books. Wasn't there a mechanical bear in the DT books?

I was a pretty big Madeleine L'Engle fan as a kid as well, and read her trilogy many times. This particular book centered on how the kids deal with time travel to overcome a great evil.

    Hmmmm....

The evil in Wrinkle in Time was the "Dark Entity", which was a black 'cloud' of evil trying to enslave the universe. There was mind control involved too, I think.

    Black cloud/black smoke????

I could swear that one of the characters in Wrinkle was named Walter....Walt????

    Rats....it was apparently a middle name....Wallace:

Charles Wallace Murry - Meg's extraordinarily intelligent five-year-old younger brother who is capable of reading minds and understanding other creatures in a way that none of the other Murry children can.

Still fairly oozes of Walt parallels though.
