Amph [UK E4 TV] Skins and/or Misfits (+ Shameless)

Link said the UK Being Human will be starting in less than 2 weeks. I'm sure the psychic friends network will have it up quickly after the premiere.

I need something to keep me occupied until Who starts again.

 

The one big problems with BBC iPlayer is that it won't show old series of things. I missed the whole of Being Human series 2 since at the time I didn't have Freeview and it only ever aired on BBC3.

iPlayer won't show any of the past episodes, yet I could watch the whole of the past series of Skins or Misfits on the 4OD player if I wanted to.

 

Maybe you have an auntie who recorded them to VHS.

I do all the recording on a TVR box, we do still have a VCR but I don't record tapes anymore.

 

It's odd that they haven't repeated the last series before the new one starts... perhaps it's so you are forced to buy the DVD? It's stupid whatever the reason.

Skins US debuted today. Haven't seen it yet, but I expect it's a 1:1 remake of the UK pilot, given the trailer.

 

In terms of story it is. Big change in casting/characters is that the US analogue of Maxie is female, which if they follow the general storylines for the first season (which it looks like they will from the "this season on" bit) is going to change things.

But it really felt like it was lacking the dynamics between the characters or the traits that really made them each stand out from the start that they UK version did. So not promising for the rest of the season.


Season 8 of Shameless just started last week in the UK, and from the first 5 episodes, I'm thinking it's time to put it to rest. We're now down to a single Gallagher kid, and the new characters are not exactly doing well to replace.

 

The new season of Skins starts next week in the U.K.

 

Series 5 of Skins got off to a really good start. Dakota Blue Richards was excellent, and the whole episode just felt so much better than anything in series 4, imo.

 

I watched the first episode of skins USA, I keep comparing it to the UK version which I'm trying to stop so i can pay attention. The episode was ok, I'll keep watching just to see what happens.

 

Will be watching tonight. Looking forward to it.

 

It was a great start to the season, most of what we learnt about the characters didn't come from exposition on their part.

In regards to the US version, apart from the kid playing Tony, I'm not really finding much to be overjoyed about with it. The beginning of what they did with Tea's episode looked promising, but fizzled out in the end.

 

Well, that was intense. Mini's a freak. The opening reminded me of the start of Season 3 - high speed transport mishap crossing paths with some other main cast members.

Good to see they're keeping up the tradition of using well know comedians as some of the kid's parents.

Final scene in the pool was wonderful.

Happy so far.

 

That metalhead Skins episode was great. Loved the Fun Lovin' Criminals' Huey cameo.

 

Yeah, that cameo took me by surprise. It didn't feel forced, either.

Looks good. As for the softcore porn stuff, I watch True Blood, so I'm used to it.

 

I thought the first episode was lots of fun. Some channel over here should really pick the series up.

 

Ep 2's out. Not quite as fast as ep 1, but if you liked the opening episode, could be worth seeking out.

 

Well, Skins 5 is over. Only 8 episodes. Bah.

I like Frankie, Alo & Rich. The rest, well hopefully they'll come into their own next season.

They have started off a lot more disparate than previous, and only really gelled as a group in the final episode - nice change of pace though to the last 2 generations I guess.

Good, but hasn't reached the highs (and lows) of the other generations, though they still have time to make it work (or crash & burn) next season.
