Hell, looks too scary for the kids... I didn't know Sam Neill was Mr Jones! Sweet.

Saw the trailer at Harry Potter the other night. Looks sweet....

I remember being freaked out by the original TV version....

Twins look a little older than the original. Mind you, who would watch a movie about a couple of 10 year olds going on "adventures" with an old man in walk-shorts, socks and roman sandals in this day and age.....

yeah, looks good, although it also looks a lot like the original TV series in terms of production design.

Speaking of related things, "Children of the Dog Star" has just come out on DVD. Vanessa and I watched it in one sitting a few weeks ago. It's aged remarkably well.

I need to get that, plus the Under the Mountain TV series at some point.

They're both quite cheap at JB Hi-Fi - about $17 each, as I recall. The actual transfer of "Under The Mountain" looks quite poor - most likely off a second generation source (it's perfectly watchable, but looks more like a VHS copy). "Children of the Dog Star" looks fantastic.

Don't remember the original cause I'm to young... Not really sure if this new movie interests me either. Worth paying the price to go see it at the movies? I think I might just wait for the DVD...

This looks fairly tame compared to some of the other films available.

Is Sam Neill the producer on this project?

It's based on a kid's book (well, probably aimed at 10-16 year olds). Great novel, and I'd guess the film is targetting a similar age group.
