Saga Unpopular Star Wars opinions!

Unpopular Opinion, the first three episodes of Mando were the best and could’ve ended there as mini-series.

 

There should never have been an Episode 7. SW works best as a 6-part saga.

 

Star Wars shouldn't have existed at all.

Another director could have named their space saga Star Wars and beat George.

 

I recently finally finished watching "Resistance."

Popular opinion: it is, overall, not great, though I really appreciate the effort to do something different. The voice acting was enjoyable, both of the main cast and some of the guest actors (which, btw, included Frodo and Xena).

Unpopular opinion 1: the last half of season 2 was really quite good.

Unpopular opinion 2: the show might have been more interesting if it had been set in a different era. And/or if its two seasons had been condensed into one.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I like quality material. But part of me misses the days of anticipating just one movie or game at a time.

 

For me the era was connected to a point I really liked about this series: the worldbuilding of how the FO spreadout worked in the galaxy. Now I come up with an unpopular opinion: Resistance is a decent upgrade for the ST because it gives context and shows what TFA tells. (Even though it's still like a 6/10 show.)

 

I actually agree with that; that aspect of the show makes the ST somewhat better. But the show itself might've been better, IMO, had it been set in a different era. Perhaps.
(In other words, the show makes the ST better, but the ST makes the show worse. IMO.)

 

I thought Resistance made the ST worse. When TFA came out, Poe was a cool character, the hotshot X-wing pilot like Wedge but finally getting a fleshed-out role of his own. But Resistance showed Poe trusting the fate of the galaxy to slapstick goofballs who had no business getting involved in espionage, military actions, or political movements. That made Poe look stupid, and I couldn't take him seriously after that.

 

I know there are like, a dozen more Star Wars projects in development, but my gut tells me that none of them (regardless of how loved or hated they may be) are going to ignite nearly as much lasting discussion as The Last Jedi has in the Disney era.

 

"I'm haunted by the kiss that you should have never given me." is the romantic equivalent of the heroic "I'm Luke Skywalker and I'm here to rescue you!" and both are infinitely more Star Wars than all of the contemporary dialogue in the Sequels, e.g. "You got a boyfriend? A cute boyfriend?".

 

^I didn't think Finn's line there was really bad. I think Poe probably spouted out the worst of those kinds of modern Marvel lines. "Open those bigass doors" is one of the worst lines in any Star Wars film, IMO.

 

Honestly, I didn't take that as a yo mama joke the first time I heard it. I guess it seemed too improbable since it was Star Wars. So I just assumed that Leia really knew Mama Hux and genuinely had something to tell her son

The Phantom Menace is unequivocally an artistic failure and the fact that Lucas got away with the "it was for kids all along" excuse is a scandal.

 

In a perfect world, Star Wars wouldn't have existed.

 

Making Anakin Skywalker a cute child for the entirety of TPM basically killed the pacing of the PT and left them with too much to do in the final 2 films to make his fall to the dark side convincing.

 

Jar Jar is a better character than Kylo Ren.
