Alright, I'm having some trouble here. I'm trying to think of some gaming terms like joystiq, buttons, d-pad...etc. I'm trying to come up with some kind of catchy name for a new website I'm building. I'm running out of ideas and the stuff I came up with was already taken, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to stay away from "GamerThis" or "GamerThat" or "BlankGamers", things around those lines I'm trying to stay away from. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I've searched through google/yahoo but couldn't find a site or something that had maybe a list or something of video game terms.
Strafe. Toggle. I mean, when were those words ever used before video games? More seriously, um... Well, there's "Game Over", that's a very distinctive phrase that is only really associated with games. "Ownage" is another obvious one. Savegame. Um... Variations on "You need the red key". Extra life. Boss battle. Cutscene. Chasecam. Is any of this helping? Or are you looking for something more oriented towards hardware (gamepads and actual things?)
Well, I was looking at "Gamer Over" but when I checked for it, it was already taken. I'm mostly looking in the areas of the words you mentioned like "Extra life. Boss battle. Cutscene. Chasecam."
What if I had something like abxy.com or something and have like a banner with some design and the NES controller or the new Wii VC controller. For some reason I keep leaning towards d-pad, although that might induce some sexual innuendo. EDIT: What does everyone think of something like: "The Vitrual Console"? Or does that not make much sense?
Virtual Console? Prepare to be sued by Nintendo Blistered Thumbs? Quintessential gaming term Also there is a webcomic called d-pad already.
Yea, I totally forgot for a second there about the virtual console thing Nintendo has going, I will definitely be sued if I used that, lol. Blistered Thumbs sounds interesting, as we all get that no matter what game we are playing, lol. Blistered Thumbs "We feel your pain". LOL It's available! I think I might choose that one, .
Sounds way too much like the legendary "idle thumbs". If you want something that'll ring bells with the entire gaming public, try something like "istailsgay.com" or something like that. Alternatively, press-a-tofire or uuddlrlrba or something niche and awesome that only I could think up.
I still think Blistered Thumbs is good for the context I'm going with here. I don't see how it's the same as "Idle Thumbs".
I was thinking about this last night, what if I shortened it a bit and made it: ptaf.com? This way it wouldn't be as long as press-a-to-fire.com.
What if you remove one of the dashes and make it press-a-tofire.com? It doesn't seem like much of a difference, but you'll notice it's suddenly far less hassle to type it. That's also how SC himself typed it. For he is a smart man, and indeed far smarter than I.
