Vintage Kenner figures succumbing to the march of time

    I have some loose vintage 3-3/4" figures that were stored in less than optimal conditions (hot attic, damp basement) over the years and they are tacky/slimy to the touch now. Any way to safely clean them without scuffing the paint? Or is their plastic just naturally beginning to break down? Has anybody else encountered this with their collections?
