Animated Shorts Visions: T0-B1 - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

Anybody else read the title and instantly flash back to this infamous scene?

Cute.

 

That was ewok movies bad. They should have their pencils taken away .

 

Loved it.

 

I got the Astroboy vibe, obviously.
Dunno. I was annoyed that he got is maker killed.


I like the idea more than the execution, I guess.

 

I thought this was very uplifting. 9/10.

I was surprised by how much I liked this one - I saw shots of it in the trailer and thought the art style would be too different and distracting but I found it pretty endearing. T0-B1 was charming and the droids were all really cute. I liked the fuzzy backgrounds and the scene where T0-B1 was knighted got me a little bit.

I dunno, it just gave me the feel-goods on a kinda crummy day. 7/10

I was really ready to hate this one from the thumbnail and summary, but I think it’s one of the better ones. It was a cute little story with interesting concepts.

You give a Japanese anime studio free reign to tell a story without constraints, and you get droid Pinocchio wants to be a Jedi. I love the originality of it. A lot of the episodes just start to feel the same, Jedi vs. Sith with varying amounts of Japanese aesthetic included, and as cool as Jedi and Sith can be, binging these episodes is kind of boring because a lot of it just feels repetitious.

Tatooine Rhapsody and this one were breaths of fresh air. I know it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s one of my favorites, probably after “Duel” and “Lop and Ocho.”

I like this one in particular. It's the essence of what star wars is. Wanting to be a jedi and do good.

 

yea initially I was put off by how directly they pulled from Astro Boy, but the story has a good heart to it and the ending was decent.

 

As much as this looks like Astroboy, this short is the timeless shonen journey in my opinion. I love me some shonen anime, doesn't matter how tired and cliche "I want to be a Jedi (but I'm a droid).", "This is the story of how I became the greatest hero (But I'm quirkless)" journey gets. Probably because I love lame things built on the bones of strong mythology. I also love mentors and students.

I can't help but imagine the Professor as a former Jedi scientist going to planets formerly decimated by The Clone Wars underfoot of Battle Droids and Clone Troopers and trying to restore their ecosystems with an army of droids. And why not have a force-sensitive one? This was packed with emotions as the overeager padawan gets the Professor discovered by an Inquisitor (Presumably) and he's subsequently killed. T0-B1 is forced to mature quickly to take the professor's place and save himself. Beautiful. 10/10. This is my third favorite.
