    I like several of those examples, but the last one with Luke throwing the saber and Kenobi throwing the blaster is a little far fetched I think. Not to offend anyone but it's like comparing Han Solo and Stormtroopers because they both shoot.

    Im not offended the least. Its just that Obi Wan calls use of the gun as uncivilized, while in ANH he calls the saber "An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age". While the Jedi of the past took the saber as a symbol of being a Jedi, while Luke on the other hand throws the saber with disdain, to show that having a saber is NOT what makes a Jedi.

    Just to keep this thread afloat (if anybody cares atleast:_| ) something I find "strangely in paired" within one movie itself:

    The first picture has the beginnings of Padme falling for Anakin, when he is in need of help, as the shadow of Vader is upon him.

    The second picture has the beginnings of Luke falling for Leia, when she is in need of help, as the shadow of Vader is upon her.

    Luke sits in the same place as his father did, but - as Lucas does so often with these repeat motifs - the position of Leia is inverted to that of Padme's, just as sex of the person in need of help is also inverted: father as opposed to daughter.

    Note that Padme is dressed in blue, to mirror the colour of the holo-message of her daughter.

    Note also that the person who requires the help, is in both instances 'towered over' by the person who potentially offers the assistance

    -JR :)

    [Apologies for the quality of the second pic, but I don't have my DVDs to hand today.]

    Good catch Obiwan-JR! Nice to see more contribution here. [:D]

    Here's something:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/CMCapture2.jpg]

    "Run away, far away. I wish I could go with you..."

    Note again, Lucas' flipping of the composition from one side to the other, as he reflects the motif from one trilogy to the other.

    And also the flipping of the advice.

    In both cases, it is the female who is trying to save the man from himself - Padme trying to save Anakin from Vader; Leia trying to save Luke from Vader, but also the potential 'Vader' inside him.

    Both attempt it with the opposite form of advice.

    I know this thread is mainly for "in saga" comparisons but I have one. It is from ROTS when Palpatine is getting his thunderous applause compared to Cyrus in the Conclave scene from the beginning of the late 70's gang movie "The Warriors".

    This the best image I could find. It is either right before or after they cut to the rear-view angle.

    Prequel Trilogy [Part 3] - Saving Palpatine

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/JRCapture1.jpg]

    Obi-Wan and Anakin arrive before Palpatine - Palpatine is handcuffed. They are shown looking down upon him, symbolically depicting the arrogance of the Jedi. However, note that Palpatine faces them - visually shown as being fully aware of what will transpire.

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/JRCapture2.jpg]

    Anakin and Obi-Wan descend the stairs to approach the dark lord. A visual metaphor of what is to become of them - Anakin symbolising his personal descent to the dark side; Obi-Wan symbolising the fall of the Jedi.

    Original Trilogy [Part 3] - Saving Anakin

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/JRCapture3.jpg]

    Vader and Luke arrive before Palpatine - Luke is handcuffed. They are shown looking up towards him, symbolically depicting the humility of the Jedi. However, note that Palpatine does not face them - visually shown as being utterly unaware of what will transpire.

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/JRCapture4.jpg]

    Luke and Vader ascend the stairs to approach the dark lord. A visual metaphor of what is to become of them - Vader symbolising his personal ascent to the light side; Luke symbolising the rise and return of the Jedi.

    ....

    Note that, again, Lucas flips the composition of the shots to mirror the parallel motif that is being depicted:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/JRCapture1.jpg] [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/JRCapture3.jpg]

    I like this one a lot, especially as we can see the lines of Stormtroopers fully grown in ROTJ, compared to them being grown in AOTC in the background.

    Glad to see a response! Yes, Tks Darthwolvo that was one of the things in my mind.

    Also it seems like the scenes and preceding those scenes are like an inverse.

    Vader being a Sith comes in unannounced/unexpected to check on the progress (or lack thereof) of the Emperor's order to fix up the DS. To the surprise of Commander Jerjerrod.

    While in AOTC, Obi Wan comes in, where the Kaminoans were expecting him (though delayed ), which was supposedly ordered by a Jedi (So called Sifo Dyas).To the surprise of Obi Wan.

    Finally ROTJ: Not on schedule
    AOTC: On schedule

    I am in agreement with Wolvo, DC.
    I like this one especially.

    As a comparison, it isn't particularly saying a lot about the narrative of the Saga, but visually there is a nice symmetry to it, with regard to the clones and the timing aspect.

    Changing the Relationship Forever: Messiah of Love

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/OBIWAN-JR/CMCapture3.jpg]

    Again, as we see Lucas do so many times, there is a flip of the shots (looking left to Padme; looking right to Leia) from one to the other, to emphasise the difference in the parallel paths of the Skywalkers.

    In the first shot, Anakin reveals the news within his heart, and breaks the heart of his wife, changing their relationship forever. The background is essentially red and fire based, representing the anger in Vader and also his metaphorical journey to hell (hate).

    In the second shot, Luke reveals the news within his heart, and strengthens the heart of his sister, changing their relationship forever. The background is essentially blue and 'life' based (trees; nature), representing the calmness in Luke and also his metaphorical attachment to heaven (love).

    Two more things about the shot of the son of Skywalker:

    1. I have always loved that halo of light around Luke's head, that he stands up into - in a scene in which he reveals his plan to try and redeem Anakin - symbolically suggesting the possibility that he might just be his father's saviour. And of course, as we know, 'Luke' also means: 'bringer of light'...

    2. The colour blue is also recognised as being Padme's 'colour', and it is no surprise to find it present here in this scene, in which Luke speaks of there still being good in Anakin...
