I was supposed to be there but I never showed up. I signed in and got my shirt but everyone was such a prick about it I said screw it. Some guy and Anne told me they had no more Associate badges but then advised me not to get my Vader badge punched...even though I'd miss out on some things. The whole experience sucked so I'm glad I didn't do it. I had a blast with the other stuff though. Yeah, it would have been an honor, but I didn't need to get treated like an ass.

I, too, enjoyed my four shifts. Anne was super nice though very busy. I also got to associate with Ben and Phillip (the owners) while working crowd control at the busiest sections....

My guest escort was Femi Taylor and she was a very nice lady. Ralph Brown personalized his three pictures to her and they were all amusing...made me wish I had the time to get my own auto of his to be personalized.

I got to talk with Ray Park twice and even shook his hand inbetween my shifts. He was a super nice guy and it was great that I got his auto in my packet.

BTW, I, too, got a double auto too...Amy Allen....

If CIV is a reality, I wouldn't mind volunteering again. It was a great experience for me, something that I can treasure while trying to recover from my horrible cold that I had since Friday..... It was because of my cold that I missed George's rare appearance...the only blemish in an otherwise happy experience.

Yeh I was pretty upset about the way they treated me as well, I mean they could have at least gift wrapped the free t-shirt, maybe had a fitting room to try them on, and done some hemming of the sleeves for me. (BTW thats sarcasm if you havent figured it out.)

The running out of badges was in no way Official Pix fault. They actually ran out of the cool Royal Guard Associate Badge and I got one of the cheezy R2-D2 volunteer badges. They soon after that ran out of those as well. The reason they told you not to get your badge punched was becasue then you would not be able to exchange it for an volunteer badge had they come up with some more. The only thing you missed out on was about a 6 hour wait in line and a maximum of 4 action figures. Damn them for trying to screw you out of your God given right to stand in line for 6 hours waiting to spend money!

BDW and his alleged attitude, hate to say it but I am willing to bet Anne did not approach him and ask that he act that way.

I should probably be thanking you for not showing, I picked up an extra shift and spent the entire time ecorting Bai Ling and what little she was wearing on sunday.

Maybe I caught her and the staff at a bad time. I don't know. And yes, I got your sarcasim. I remember asking her what time I should report back, was supposed to start around 3:30. She said "you need to be here at 3" and wouldn't even look at me like she was doing me a favor or something. Screw that.

I had a great time volunteering, as well. Zouk, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I worked two days. I was a guest escort for Michonne Bourriague the first day. Man, was she nice. She had lost her voice, but was very pleasant to everyone. I was so nervous! She tokk the time to pose for pics with everyone, as well. I got to do crowd control for Ray Parks the second day. He was so cool. Took the time to shake my hand. WOW. I saw a bunch of the stars at the Marriott. I mean, standing right next to them, or sharing an elevator with them. I didn't feel it was proper to ask for autos or pics, because they were guests, too. I likes the perks of getting in early, but I missed out on some things, and gladly so, given the amount of people there. Would do it again in a skinny minute.

Woah, I had a great time!! You have me mistaken for someone else. [face_peace]
Actually the only thing I could complain about, but I'm not, was getting doubles of the autographs I paid for and stood in line for before I received my compensation. Oh well....
And as far as the whole badge thing goes, I was there at 2:00 Wed. to turn in my badge, and all I got was the R2-D2 badge also. That whole thing was Gen Con's deal. They only gave Official Pix volunteer badges bacause of 'security' issues, and a very limited number at that.
As far as being treated badly, could you imagine having the responsibility of running that show?? Anne had a lot more to worry about than one volunteer with a gripe about a volunteer badge. :(

Anne was awesome in fact does anyone still have her email address I want to see if they are working gencon in indy thought Id volunteer again.A couple of volunteers probably deserved to be treated bad since they felt playing with cell phones was far more important than doing their job.Amazeing if they can keep a real job.

I had a great experience with Official Pix and would love to work for them again. I was treated very nicely and I think that getting a free t-shirt the autographs and the volunteer pin was really great compensation. I got two of the autographs that I was not able to afford to get. I also got a great Dave Prowse and Vader to give to a friend.

Volunteering for Offical Pix was the best thing I did and like most of you would do again in a heartbeat.

Since I help Ian Liston (aka Wes Janson) promote his website, I at least had a place to keep my stuff while working.

I also know for a fact that C4 WILL happen in 2007 and hopefully in Indy. Richard LeParimentier told me that Rick McCallum talk to him about after dicussing it with GL. You can't get a better source then that.

    I had a blast!

Volunteering for OP was the best thing I could have done for C3!

I only worked two shifts; one doing crowd control and one sitting with Alan Ruscoe. He was a really cool dude! I got nine autographed pics which I had personalized after my shifts, except for Billy Dee, since everyone had said he was kind of "inaccessible" for the lack of a stronger word! lol

Although the autographed picks, pin and cast interaction were great, one of the best things had to be the volunteer pass!!!! The 7 our line for the store on Thursday turned out to be only 1 and a half with the badge. Getting in early and running into many cast members while they were calmly having their morning coffee and such was awesome!

C3 definitely wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't volunteered. Thanks OP and count on me for C4 and beyond!

I recently sent an E-mail to Anne, thanking her for such a great experience and that I'll be there for C4 when the call goes out. She replied by thanking me for my efforts and stated that I'm on the her list for C4.

How did you guys become volunteers at CIII? I'm thinking of going to the next one, and I'm considering helping out. Also, do you guys know if there is a minimum age requirement? Thanks! :)

/\ I found out about the volunteering opportunity via this forum. Then I went to the website of Official Pix and signed up. I thought that I was too late to sign up, but they emailed me several weeks later.

I believe there might be an age limit, cause they asked for my birthday/age via email when I filled out the form and all.

Hope that helps and good luck.

I think that the age verification was because if you are under 18 you would need your parents approval and then there are all of those nasty child labor laws that I am sure OfficailPix would want to insulate themselves from. I do think the older the better, at least over 18.

I got an email back from Anne as well and she didnt mention me being on her C4 list. Sniff sniff...

Probably the best way to keep up on future volunteer opportunities is to keep an eye on the Official Pix site.

Bruno, I noticed you sitting over there by Bai Ling on Sunday. :D :D :D Ok, I noticed you VERY briefly. ;) Man, I really hate they cut her scene. Granted, it was very small and all, but she really did seem sooo nice, and she really seemed to be into Star Wars altogether.

Yeh thank goodness I was sitting, Otherwise I would have been standing all hunched over. Actually she is quite an interesting woman. I took her to her meet and greet in the fan club lounge. Of course no one from the fan club was there but there was a crowd to see her so I took her too the back and let them take pics with her for a while then we all sat around like at a campfire and they asked questions to her. I couldnt figure out where or whom I should have talked to about getting a microphone. Another ball dropped by the fan club. I felt pretty bad and kept apologizing to the peopel there. BUT anyway my point was she is very eloquent and well spoken. She is a very deep person, seriously. She has quite alot goign on in the future as well professionally. I wish I could remember names but she is gonna be in some films with some pretty big named stars, she also has a screen play she wrote she is working on getting made. I can totally see her really going places in her career.
