• There was further discussion of Lord Mauly Mall?s new JC banner from last week, and this was approved for use after being revised to remove a spoiler image, along with possible colour schemes, so this should be going up sometime this week.



• Following Preacherboy?s reassignment to the TFN Games section, two or three members were put forward to replace him as Games moderator, and jp-30 was eventually chosen as the best choice and duly promoted.



• Ongoing debate about whether the Literature forum needs another moderator, and consideration of the two choices.
  
  On a related note, we're very pleased to announce that Kadue will be returning as a moderator in the EU forums, effective immediately. Welcome back, Kadue!



• Discussion of several problem users and trolls, and how best to deal with them.



• Questions about threads being spammed with lots of pictures. It was decided that links would be better than actual images in these cases, to speed up load times and lower congestion.



• Notes on certain issues that have developed since the formation of the new administrative group, and clarification of the existing admin guidelines, to cover some incidents that have occurred.



• Questions about religious threads being allowed in JCC, with the end decision that they should only be in the Senate Floor.



• It was announced that Snowball would like us to reduce the amount of server space the JC takes up. This will mostly affect people in Lit and JCC. We strongly recommend that if you have any old threads you want saved, you should either bring them up to avoid them being pruned, or ask a mod to reopen them if they're locked.

I'd like to bring up some old threads, but I can only look at one page of my "Recent Posts" .....

So if anyone from Lit. can, please bring up my "Who Are You?" thread, which I started way back in like 99. If it hasn't already been deleted, that is. But I think I saw it a few months ago .....

I tried to up your "Who are you?" thread, wk, but the last post was on May 21st '01 and it's been locked.

Apparently we have 15GB of space on the Snowboard servers. We have looked at what FanForce boards are expendable, but really we need to cull the larger forums like JCC and FanFic. FanFic in particular will be problematic, as we will need to work carefully on that to ensure that no stories are deleted without the authors saving them to disk if needed.

Yes, up this thread. It's one of the first "Community" type threads from Lit. which not only lead to the creation of the EU Community board, but also made Lit. a community instead of just random names posting random thoughts on random books.

Is it just me or does that sound like a very painful experience to go through. I can picture Preacherboy not being able to sit for a week. On second thought, I don't want to picture that at all.

I'm with Gandolf on this one. With Kadue back in the EU forums doing what he used to do, that should pretty much clear up any mod needs Lit. has for now.

 

It was easy. Now I can have some real fun.

 

This will mostly affect people in Lit and JCC.

Whoa, wait a cotton-picking moment there! Why Literature? Are we just the considered most wretched hive of scum and villainy on the boards, or are we the nerdy kid with the books whose easy to pick on?

What will these changes result in? I wouldn?t mind if the rate at which the server ate threads was increased ? particularly in Community ? but if this sort of change is implemented, I?d like to see it board-wide (with the possible exception of Fanfiction*). I think that if the rate at which threads get eaten is increased in Literature and Community, it should increase in PSA, Classic Trilogy, the Senate, etc.

If you?re forced to make change?s like that, I understand. But spread the possible pain around evenly.

*Fanfiction is a bit of a special case, because those old stories do get looked at, but it could still use a bit of pruning. There?s a lot of threads that only ever got one or two posts, and then disappeared into the depths, unfinished and largely unmourned. Because nothing is ever eaten in Fanfiction, a lot of dead threads have accumulated.

 

Great that Kadue's back, but does this solve the admin problem? What hours is he gonna be logged in at? If it's during the same times that Gatherer and DL are, then it doesn't really solve the overall problem.
