... then the mod is made of wood...

    ....and therefore....

    ...a witch!

    BURN HER! BURN HER!

But...but..that's like saying you should read a book before you burn it!

    Some people...

This isn't the same as reading books. :p

Exactly! So logically...the mod is made out of wood.

Are you not trying to judge a new mod by their cover, instead of their creamy insides?

Edit:  D'oh! Double post. Someone should ban me...

We should play a little game. Let's relax the rules just for a minute and let everyone who seems to think there are superior mod candidates out there post them.

No more beating around the bush "there are better candidate" posts. Everything out in the open.

How bout it? Or are we still too immature to handle something like that?

    Amazing.

    12 pages.

This has now officially exceeded the drama created by my promotion. Congratulations to Traxy and zac on this momentous achievement.

    > I believe the drama over my promotion went 11 pages. I bet is that this thread will exceed that.

This is the very reason each moderator should get a "welcome" thread to themselves. This 2-in-1-thread makes measuring the ridiculous fallout near impossible (well, near impossible unless someone wants to mark each post as "Droideka 27 related, zacparis related or both and report back).

You may be beating _-_-_-_-_, but the double-teaming is hardly fair.

And welcome to the new mods.

    I'll start with one: DarthPsychotic.

RileyMan. He's a genius at ASP and impartial as heck. Make him an Admin.

Knowledge of ASP is pretty much useless, since none of the admins (aside from zerosleep, of course) have access to the board code.

Well thank you for that interesting tidbit, Jeff.

I still believe that Riley would still make an exceptional mod.

Except that he's not very active in the JCC, and 100 posts go all the way back to January 28th (with 50 posts going back to August 12th).

If someone's not consistently active in a forum, they shouldn't be considered.

I think he's been active enough over the years.

Activity over the years isn't a substitute for current activity.

Moderators must be consistently active (as posters, even if actual moderating is infrequently needed) in a community. They can't be known to regulars (and newcomers) if they don't post often, and in many different threads.

The JC changes over time, and the makeup of the community changes with it. It's best to have moderators who are part of the currently active JC community.

    NOTE:
Just because someone is from 98 or 99 doesn't automatically mean they'd be a good mod.

    NOTE:
Just because someone is from 03 or 04 doesn't automatically mean they'd be a bad mod.

If you look at my usernotes you will realize exactly how awesome a mod I would be.

What? Your computer doesn't have enough memory to load that much text? It's ok. :)

Yeah, desire to mod and dedicate the time it takes to be an active mod are very crucial when considing nominations. One of the most important factors. You have to want to do it, or you're never going to be very good. (for a long period of time)

EDIT: The JC changes over time, and the makeup of the community changes with it. It's best to have moderators who are part of the currently active JC community.

Very very true. As a JCC mod you have to have a semi decent understand of who's in what clique, and when insults are jokes and when they are meant cruely. And believe me, that's hard to do.
