I like cricket pash, and it seems your boys gave us quite a thrashing the other day
I played cricket at school but was never that good at it, but I watch it now and again. I'm a Graham Thorpe fan myself

 

You're welcome Matt...I couldn't watch the whole game but I can tell you it was quite an emotional speech from the English captain. My mum was rooting for you guys.

Matt, you may be great at other sports... And being a fan of the game is still considered an honourary "cricket thing" especially here in Sri Lanka. It's a national thing for us.

Graham Thorpe is also here in the team this time. I believe he'll be playing the tests.

Poor Jimmy Anderson...he's got funky hair and he's adorable...hmm, I sound biased don't I?

Andrew Flintoff is a great all rounder Matt...and he's still young too. Lots of new faces in your team...

Come to think of it, we have loads of new faces too.

 

You did really well that's for sure, that was one of our worse defeats ever. not sure if it was just a blip for us or whether your team is really good

I must say I'm very impressed with your knowledge of cricket, you know much more then me about our own team, lol.

Football's my main love though, I used to play it a lot and was quite good in goal but haven't played it for ages

 

Heheh...well the team is here in Sri Lanka so I guess we hear so news first! Plus, if its Jimmy Anderson news...I notice it a mile away!

Oh, I'd like to think that our boys are really doing well right now. Our new coach has also been good for us. But England has been known to bounce back into the game...we'll see at the 3rd ODI!

(for those of you who do not know me, Hello! I'm Maja from sweden, and I don't understand anything about cricket )

 

Maja, hon...cricket is a great game...and the Sri Lankan team has been giving the English boys a hard time.

 

but what do they do?

They are good cricketers...guess we were better in this game. But then, England may go on to do well in their next matches. Heheh, and I got to see Jimmy Anderson a bit...well, not too much coz I was at work on most of the match days.

Maja...it's not too hard to follow.

- 2 teams
- 11 players per side (not counting the extras)
-it's like baseball...one team bats (two batsman at a time who keep taking turns batting) while the other team bowls and fields.

My dad simply says it's a guy hitting tha ball and 11 other fellows running to catch it.

Did I get the number right, Matt? I alawys mix up the number...11 or 10. I think it's 11.

And as I said maja, I wouldn't worry about not understanding cricket because most people seem not to
It's only played in a handful of countries really which is a bit of a shame, I just think it's too slow for most people.

And dad's explanation...our family always has funny ways of saying things. Dad watches some cricket yes. He used to play when he was in Englad way back when he was 17. Dad studied in the UK for 2 years and he was forced to play cricket and rugby.

The game being slow is definitely one of the reasons it's not as popular as other games. After all, footy is just an hour and a half...or two hours, right?

Hmm...but I love English footy...now there's a game your boys play so well! I feel sad they haven't won recently though.
