MOD Welcome to the EUC!

Welcome to the new an improved welcome thread for the Expanded Universe Community (EUC). The last thread was getting a bit dated so we figured it was time for a new one.

If you're reading this maybe you're also new to our forums here, or maybe you are an oldbie who has returned after a long break frozen in carbonite. You might even be a long time member of the JC Forums who is branching out into the Expanded Universe for the first time. In any case, welcome. This is the place to sit back, relax and enjoy the richness that is the Expanded Universe/Legends and get to know some of your fellow fans. Your moderators are currently myself (Bardan_Jusik) and Sinrebirth. Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions.

One of the first things you will note are the prefixes we have at the top of the main EUC page (under our banner). These are there to help us all organize the forum and help guide you around the community.

Social: These threads are for getting to know and have fun with your fellow denizens of the EUC. We currently have two long running social threads, the Blue Moon Cantina (BMC) and the New User Social (NUS). Stop on by in either (or both) and say hello.

Fanclub: Fanclubs are threads where fans can congregate and discuss the subject of their fandom. These can range from fans of a single character, book, series or even organization. Some of our more active fanclubs are the New Sith Order, the Jedi Guardians of Light and my personal favorite, the Mandalorian/Republic Commando fanclub. These threads are all great resources with some very knowledgeable members, so if you have a question on a specific topic that needs be answered, they can be a great place to start.

Games: Some games are simple like the EUC ABC game, others are more in depth like our Starfighter Draft game. In any case, games in the EUC will carry this prefix. Mind blowing, right?

Events: Special events will be marked with this prefix. These can include the EUC awards, special short term social threads (such as the Halloween Sock Hop or the Sithmas party), or threads commemorating special events of our users like the birth of a child (new Star Wars fan!) and so forth.

Senate: The Senate is where you, the citizens of the EUC, can help make the community a better place. Users can act as Senators (elected/chosen by the various fanclubs) and use the Senate thread to come up with new ideas/games/threads to make the EUC a more fun place to hang out. Senate announcements and the Senate thread itself will be tagged with this prefix. Note that the Senate is currently closed due to a Sith (or was it Jedi?) coup d'état.

Discussions: Discussion threads are for those discussions that don't really fit into just a single fanclub. Some of these are just simple questions that can be answered in a post or two. Others are more in depth and discussion can go on for months (or longer). However if you have a question that would fit into a specific fanclub, we ask that you post it there rather than create a new thread.

Note that there is no prefix for advertising, questionnaires and the like. These are forbidden without the previous authorization of Site Staff, so please refrain from spamming our beautiful boards with such threads. Likewise, double posting is considered a form of spam. We know that sometimes in the excitement of a social thread or in the case of long periods of inactivity in a thread, double posting is unavoidable, but please attempt to refrain from such activity and use the Edit feature to avoid double posting. Spoilers: With regards to spoilers, please review the Forum's rules regarding spoilers in the Rules of the JC forums tab at the top of the page. In addition, please spoiler code any information regarding characters, plot and the like for a period of two (2) weeks after a new movie is released for the benefit of those who have not yet had an opportunity to view it and would like to remain unspoiled.
