Welsh Banner

TimBolton has very kindly offered to make us a forum banner.

So I was wondering what everyone here would like to see in the banner.

I was thinking of a pic of a Welsh dragon (of course).

I am guessing plenty of sheep
A clone armies of baa-baas! I can even throw in a Rancor pit for free

I'll start looking for extra pics tomorrow, there is a lot to work with above so far

 

I've had one of two more ideas. I was thinking that you could make a spoof of the Jango Fett/Clones poster from Attack of the Clones.

But instead of Mandalorian and clones I was thinking of having sheep!

Also, since the full scale model of the Millenium Falcon was built in Barry Docks, a pic of the fastest hunk of junk in the Universe is also in order.

I'm in work right now so I can't go looking for suitable pics for the above ideas. But when I get home i'll be sure to post some.

So is there anyone else here apart from me who wants to give any input to this????

Supposedly that is Cardiff Castle on the far left (can you confirm that, as I haven't been to the castle, though I have been to Cardiff itself) and sheep herding into the clone ship (I can do your Jango idea too if you want )

I know it doesn't look like much yet - but this the start I have made on the banner (been working and googling for about an hour, looking thru IMDB for Welsh actors in the SW movies - I have found one!

I was thinking it'd be cool (After a while) to get a rotation of Welsh banners, so you get a random one on pageload. Be good to have welsh flag stuff as well as monumental welsh stuff, and also would be cool to have some parts with pictures of Star Wars related Welsh posters stuff.. but only if it could be made to look fitting. Maybe some with portions that are clips from any Welsh participation in a fanfilm or the like.

If i ever get any free time (and any material) i might be able to stick one together if we wanted a few options.

 

Welshguy - ah, I wonder if there are any more people involved in SW to do with Wales? I'll keep an eye out. Scotland has quite a few, London loads, and Brummieland has a few too.

Do you want famous people on there too? Ryan Giggs? Maybe in some SW guise.

Great idea about random banners, I like that a lot, maybe we can get someone else working on alternatives? The only thing I am not sure about is how the banner works on the JC - I don't know of any FF that has random one on its pages - if you had a separate website you can implement that sort of thing no problemo. Maybe the Welsh boss can ask higher up?

Took a break, and continued again on it, it won't be done in a day, but if I can keep finding pics and stuff to put in, then it won't take long. Plus I am enjoying it, and now have ideas for Scotland too lol, if the locals want one. I think I have banner fever or someit.

Heheh, yeh i can probably help out on a few, as soon as i get my software all sorted out, still not reinstalled all the appropriate stuff since formatting. I'm sure i've seen rotations somewhere..

 

Looking good so far dude. Most impressive.

I don't really think we need a pic of the Rancor Pit to be honest. It doesn't really have much to do with Wales and will take up valuable space. Though i'm sure many people would like to argue that Wales is one massive Rancor Pit, but they can go to HELL!

Not sure about Ryan Giggs? Maybe another sporting pic. Ok, here's an idea, what if we stuck a pic of the Millunium Stadium on there attacking the Millunium Falcon (hmm, never notice the name similarity..), it kind of looks like a giant space ship and I would pay good money to see green plasma bolts coming out of makeshift gun turrets.

I'll go check pics out for the Millennium Stadium (I only know how to spell it cos I got sent on a course to swat the bug in 1999 ) - maybe I could do the Millennium Falcon flying out of the Millennium Stadium like in ANH Mos Eisley docking bay? That sound good?

I should be going , can't believe I forgot the Millennium Stadium! Any other big national treasures I am woefully forgetting?

Can't think of anything of the top of my head right now, but i'm sure there are loads of pics of famous landmarks/people that we are forgetting.

I liked your idea better by the way, about the Falcon and Sadium.

Just a few ideas :

• A couple of snowspeeders sweeping majestically over mount Snowdon (not sure if snowdon is that distinctive/recognisable)

• A 501st clone trooper with red flashes instead of blue and three feathers insignia somewhere on the armour (helmet/chest)

Like the idea of the Clone Trooper Taff. What if we were to colour his armour so it looked like a Welsh rugby jersey, complete with the three feathers?

What about, instead of Tom Jones, we have Anthony Hopkins in classic Silence of the Lambs style with Sith eyes?

And Catherine Zeta Jones in a gold bikini!

Now we're starting to get somewhere!

With all the new stuff, I can re-arrange this. Remember that this bit is the top left banner - there is another banner to the right that appears depending on your screen size and display set up. The bit separating the Millennium Falcon and the Welsh Jedi is proving the hardest for content in the current set up.

K, now for the new stuff -

Snowdon - I have been googling that for the last few days for good pics, I was going to stick it on the right banner. The speeder bike idea is great
Clone trooper - so red instead of blue? Np. Three feathers insignia? Is that the Boba one or a Welsh symbol I am unfamiliar with? Edit: it's a rugby thing? Np, I can alter the clone costume accordingly.

Tom Jones - some mentioned Tom today in work, as a Sith Lord? Great I can PS him inside Palps cowl, maybe ROTJ pic?
Anthony Hopkins - cool again Maybe have them back to back, one with a lightsaber, the other with Force lightning?
Daffs - Watto has one Though the side banner is very thin, so more Daffs and Leeks are on the way, I was thinking of having someone hold a leek like a lightsaber hilt and have a blade emerge from it - too corny?
Catherine - Bikini or Padme AOTC white arena cossie?

The other thing I thought of was "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" ("The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave" for those who don't know ), I have a pic of a sign with it on, so I may add that too.

How about Anglesey? Druids?

Right, I am gonna take a break for the mo, and I may not be posting for a few days, but I will keep working on this during that time, if I don't get some complete stuff for the weekend, I will have lots more time at the weekend to complete it. I'll try and quickly check for any suggestions/replies but I may not have time to respond, so don't panic.

Oh, is the image above too dark? I know at home it is fine, where I have PS, but I did a quick check at work and it was a little dark (its a naff comp tho).

 

Looking great so far dude. You mentioned the darkness issue. I was actually thinking that Wotto looked a little dark, but apart from him, everything else seems ok.

A little note I just thought of. With the Welsh flag, would it be possible to get one with "Croeso" on it?

It means welcome in Welsh and would add a little something extra to the flag design.

So many ideas, so little time.

Loved your Millennium Falcon/Stadium pic too by the way. Though I did notice the Stadium had been flipped, though i'm sure nobody else will.

I think Anthony Hopkins was born to play a Sith, and Tom Jones does that have Anakin look in his eyes doesn't he?

Fixed it a little more now. Gave them lightsaber blades.

I also like the red clone welshguy has created but I've been wondering how
it would look with a rugby ball, instead of the blaster rifle under it's arm. Don't get me wrong I love the blaster, I just get the feeling it may look beter with a rugby ball.


Judging by what's already there, this banner is going to look the business!
