NARROW ESCAPE

I was hungry so I went to the grocery store, and as soon as I walked in I remembered Whamageddon. But lucky! They were only playing Do They Know It's Christmas. Needless to say I've never done my grocery shopping this fast.

 

I beat the steering wheel in frustration. "You've just made me lose an internet contest!" I screamed. She laughed.

It was a Thursday. Unremarkable in almost every way; forgettable weather. The usual pernicious workday. The usual perfunctory conversations with work colleagues, all business, all cold. The commute home was particularly bad, I'll not forget that soon. It was particularly galling because I left work mid afternoon, to avoid traffic. And yet thanks to two accidents, one on an already strangled stretch of road, I was sat in the bucket for two hours.

That gives some a long time to contemplate. And I am, if nothing else a person. I did the usual contemplations; murder, puppets, the best football team in the world, more murder. I passed the time by listening to podcasts about murder, puppets, and the greatest football team in the world. Coincidence? I am not the one to decide.

The reason I had to get home? My Beloved Zara had a Christmas musical performance that evening. Thanks to my traffic delay, my plan of laying around and doing nothing for an hour was dust.

The time came to leave for the musical. My wife said she needed petrol, so to expedite things we got in my car. As we left, the speakers started spitting out a puppet podcast. As this was highly inappropriate for young ears, I hit the button to switch to RADIO, and pleasant contemporary adult hits began to play.

And then my wife stabbed at the touch screen, changing it to the Christmas station and I heard the last ten seconds of Last Christmas. By WHAM!

I feel as vulnerable as George Michael when he had a PC hovering over him saying "you're nicked, me old china"

 

I just looked up this song and honestly thought it was girls singing it this whole time. For reference here's what I'm referring to

Hello everyone. Like Deadpool, I'm a big Wham fan.



I must have guilty feet because I got no rhythm.

Anyway, I drank my first shot of Wham's Last Christmas this year when I watched the movie by the same name. My last shot of Last Christmas was during the Thanksgiving holiday. I am 13 days sober of Wham's Last Christmas. However, I'm been using Jimmy Eats World's cover to supplement my addiction.

Got a Christmas station on at work.

 

I haven't been WHAMMED since the other day, but on the 2.5 hour drive home from my sister-in-law's on Sunday I got JIMMYEATWORLD-ED with their version of Last Christmas. It's pretty crappy compared to the original.

 

If terrible covers counted I'd also be way out of the game. For some reason the real deal keeps eluding me.

 

So last Christmas was his last Christmas.

 

I deliver to a mall, I flip radio channels a lot. I am still in.

 

Did Jr know about Whamageddon?

 

I think @epic is out. He made it clear earlier in thread that he will lie to win.

 

I just brought my daughter to school for her annual Christmas dinner. All the parents come up to the classroom to potter around and arrange the food. I couldn't, so I gave my daughter the dish outside the school and wished her good luck. Her friend asked "why isn't he coming?", and she said "he can't risk hearing Last Christmas".

This contest is a blessing.

On my way off, I passed the parents who'd gathered as a little Christmas choir. They were singing Last Christmas.
