For me personally Anakin. It reminds me of my own father who I have been estranged from for the most of my life. Hearing behind this big booming voice and ice cold personality a fragile old broken but resurrected man is so heartbreaking and heartwarming.

I think either Luke or Leia’s death was the saddest for me. Luke’s felt very unexpected, but very appropriate (in my opinion), so I was completely overwhelmed with emotions because it felt like a satisfying end to his story, but I was still heartbroken to watch my childhood hero die on screen.

Leia’s was expected, but still emotional — not only because we were losing Leia, but also because it was done in a way that paid homage to Carrie Fisher and the impact she’s had on the franchise and its fans. For me, it felt like the first real opportunity since Carrie’s passing for me to feel a sense of closure. It felt like there was unfinished business, knowing that Leia lived on after The Last Jedi, but Carrie was gone. Say what you will about The Rise of Skywalker, but I genuinely felt like that film was made with so much love in the sense that J.J. really did make it feel like Leia’s film, the way it was always intended to be, even with the limited footage they had to work with.

Seeing both Luke and Leia appear as Force ghosts at the end of The Rise of Skywalker was the perfect ending in my opinion, because it reminded me that, even though they’re “gone” in a physical sense, their souls — and, more importantly, their legacies — will live on forever, both in the Star Wars universe and in the real world.

    The ewok in ROTJ.

    But also...

Bodhi Rook. His sad look at the grenade, not knowing if he'd done his task or if he'd achieved any good...Tragic!

When I was like 5 or 6 and saw ROTJ the ewok death had me absolutely shook. Lots of impactful deaths in the PT, but that ewok still gets me down.

    TRUTH

Chewie's reaction was the break in the dam for me. I was sad when Leia died, but when chewie collapsed to his knees, I was crying so hard I couldn't see.

I like this list, so I'll add my take on it.
    Fulfilling: Luke Skywalker
Ruined: Finn (Rose's last-second intervention ruined a great story arc for Finn from coward to hero -- didn't think he was used well later)
    Questionable: Palpatine
    Saddest: Order 66
    Shocking: Han Solo
    Tragic: Qui-Gon Jinn
    Unfair: Lor San Tekka
    What the ????: Rey

For me its Yoda. When he says “Luke, when gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be.” Then when he fades away into Netherworld of the Force, my heart sinks. Its like when the last apostle died, and now the next gen must carry everything on, uncertain if they are up to the task.

Probably an unpopular opinion but for me, Hux. Not in a crying-sad kind of way but just a sad-sad kind of way. He had a sad backstory, tried to be at least some kind of a competent officer, turned out to be just a joke and everyone's punching bag, and was killed in the most ridiculous and stupidest way possible. So maybe it's not really "sad" , but absolutely a huge waste which makes it sad.

That was a sad one. It was surprising. I mean we knew he wouldn’t be in the OT, but until he’s stabbed by Maul, you think he might be in the AOTC and ROTS.
