Again I agree with you Arun!

It would have been so much more poignant if they had just left him saying "please make me a real boy" forever and ever

EDIT: Chet it isn't worth it unless you have at the very very least a 32" widescreen (though 36" is more highly recommended) and a decent surround set up. Hence why I wont be purchasing them cos my telly is only 28". Also the range of titles on it just now is really short, the only decent one being CTHD. You can check out which ones are likely to be superbit cos they've all been out on R1 for ages

I bought a DVD the other day.

    Baldurs Gate 2 it was.

Now, all I need is a DVD ROM.

Ok, I think I'm going to Blockbuster and having a movie marathon day today. It was either that or clean the bathroom.

There has been some debate as to whether they are aliens or not. Apparently it says in one of the documentaries that they are actually highly advanced robots, though there have also been conflicting sources who have said that they are aliens. If it is robots then the ending is slightly better for it, but Spielberg should not have relied completely on the extras to convey this

Isn't it too heavy for screws to hold up? That's an awful lot of money to go crashing to the ground when you slam a door.

Despite the good write ups they get, I wouldn't get another Tau unless I was given it for free. Mines is a Tau flatscreen and it's not good at all. Phillips make corking TVs though Arun if you want my advice

If you look carefully, you should be able to see circuitry inside them, and they comunicate in binary. When they talk to each other saying that the boy would have had contact with Humans, and the way they touch each other also to pass on data.

I've had my Panny for like 2 months and it's already looking dreadful :( Maybe I'm just being overly critical with it though, it might have to do with my SCART lead being royally buggered due to it being taken out all the time prior to me getting my new telly

EDIT: also add the following from the Coen's back catalogue on my list:

    Blood Simple
    Raising Arizona
    Fargo
    The Big Lebowski

    smacks Arun across the face

    Blasphemer!

An RGB SCART connection is preferable to an S-video. Everyone knows that!

I buy DVDs for a bit of both - the quality of the image over video and the 'extras'. Though the only DVD I've actually really plundered the extras for is Moulin Rouge - and that was for the choreography stuff.

This superbit stuff does sound like a bit of a rip-off to me. Okay it took me a good while to come around to DVD but now I'm converted - what can it add to my viewing of a film that 'normal' doesn't already?

I have a technical (for me anyhoo!) question here...

As already mentioned - I have Moulin Rouge on DVD.

My problem is that my sister's DVD player makes a total hash of some scenes - 'Hindi Sad Diamonds' is a real disaster!! Bleeding all over the joint!

Others seem to be fine - Matrix is cool. Need to check the others but that will take time

Now - is it the DVD player, my DVD or the TV that's causing the problems and what do you look for in a reasonably priced player - regions don't really bother me and I'm not prepared to spend more than £200.

    Any helpers?!

    I know I ask for a lot ;)

    @Becky... your two points.

    1) Superbit is better, more info, more detail. But you'll need a large expensive-some TV to get the most out of it.

    2) Problems with Moulin Rouge most likely to be the player. Try it on another player and see what happens. It could be the DVD, but bigger chance the poor player can't handle it. How's the player plugged into the TV? Picture signal could be an issue also. Composite will make colours bleed as I've seen with my Gamecube...
