I think ESB is good because of the Luke vs Vader duel, hence my username. But i like the prequels more.

Yeah well said and the performances had more depth to them.
That said there is still something about the wonder and excitment of SW and, although some of the Ewok battle can drag on, other than that, ROTJ has a wonderful flow and somehow has maybe ended up my most rewatched.

Ack! The Jabba stuff was awesome! Just flows and how awesome was it to get to see so many wild creatures! It was like the Cantina on steroids! Just above were you not saying how ESB was cool since it showed us new places and creatures?

While it did got a bit teddy bear and some of the Ewok battle can drag a bit, still, something about it flows, that perfect start with the Jabba stuff and then speeder bike chase and Ewoks cooking the heroes and then the incredible space battle and throne room stuff.

They were only going to be Wookies way back before they made SW. Chewie was shown to be too technologically advanced to have Wookies still work.

I still love it all, 1-9 and the side movies.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

I just wish they didn't cut Vader's most viciously delivered line of all time "bring my shuttle", delivered with such venom and then they replace it with a tepid sounding reading and cut scenes from ROTJ explaining all this nonsense about stuff that was already obvious. That is the SE change that is really bugsome.

ESB is my 2nd favorite SW film. It is so, because to me it feels more like Star Wars than most other Star Wars films/series...if ya'll get what I mean by that.

There are so many great things about TESB.

I'd have to say that my favorite scenes in TESB involve Vader, Luke, and Yoda.

I'd say it's the last SW Saga film where everybody involved was trying 100 percent to make it the best film it could be.

I think The Phantom Menace also had that motivation

My favorite thing about the film is the duel. From the first line ""The Force is with you, young Skywalker, but you are not a Jedi yet." I get goosebumps. Vader is such a bad ass. He's toying with Luke the whole time in a calm defense until he drops that bomb at the very end. Vader's one-handed lightsaber strikes combined with the use of the force to just hurl objects at Luke was mind blowing to younger me.

That hint of Leia being a force user when she senses Luke's presence as they are leaving Bespin. I loved Leia from jump in ANH but this film was really the one that gave me the hope that she'd get to show more of it. I really wanted her to train and have a lightsaber from that moment on.

There's alot of emotion, intense emotion, in this film that gets to me no matter how many times I watch it. Whether it's the duel reveal, Han getting frozen in carbonite, Yoda dying just as he reveals to Luke that there's another Skywalker.

Han Solo and the Princess track. It's listening to a medley of Williams' best and knowing exactly what's happening on screen when you aren't watching the film.

I actually don't believe that any of the people went out and intentionally gave less effort than they should. Its just thet some films turn out worse than others (for many reasons). Look at Georges behind the scenes reaction when they're watching TPM and he realises that hes made a mistake with some aspects of it, they happen with the best of intentions. But sometimes you get films where everything comes together perfectly and for me in the main the OT falls in to that category, in particular Empire.

    1. The score, 2. The opening scenes, 3. Eveything with Yoda.

But I don't think Empire has as coherent a story as some of the films.

Accurate. Some individuals, particularly Harrison Ford, were either not trying or had mixed feelings about ROTJ. This is in contrast to Mark Hamill, who, of course, gave 100%, as did Ian McDiarmid and all the portrayers of Anakin/Vader in that film.

TESB is great because it’s just as good as ANH, and almost as good as Rogue One.

There's just moments in ESB where you think : God this is so special.

When Lando is challenging Vader about torturing Han . We know this is for real.

Yes. The AT AT attack. Yoda's speech to Luke. Raising the X Wing. Vader vs Luke. Lando's betrayal. I know. I am your father. It's one classic scene after another. People weren't expecting such a dark sequel. But it is just so emotional. No one was expecting Han to get frozen, and Luke to get his *** kicked by Vader. It is so different from ANH. But somehow it all works.

It was unexpected, yet a perfectly logical continuation. It just felt natural.

Luke and Leia hardly have any direct interaction in this film.

It wasn't really a twist; it was just a natural occurrence in the story.

it seems natural now, but in 1980 no one was expecting it.
