What is your favorite Star Wars track?

Imperial March, Across the Stars, Duel of the Fates, the battle of Hoth music I don't know its name, and any music on the second disc of the ESB soundtrack past track 9.

 

It's called "The Battle Of Hoth" on the SE.

 

Duel of the Fates. I'm truly addicted to it.

 

Humm...it's a tie between the concert version of "Asteroid field" and "Forest Battle"

I don't have the original score, it's something I need to pick up. I only have a cd of the concert versions. I hope the names match up. oh, and don't ask why, I guess I just like John Williams fast.

 

I had to pop in my ROTJ DVD just to listen to Dark Side Beckons. It is so underrated the more I think about it since we've been accustomed to DOTF in the past five years.

Anyhow, The Dark Side Beckons. 45 seconds of musical perfection.

 

I have a hard time comparing "The Dark Side Beckons" and other non-thematic cues with thematic cues like DOTF.

I just compare them as being probably the musical high points of their respective films, and both being choral/instrument pieces-granted, TDSB doesn't have actual words, but it does have a choral aspect, obviously. Amd I like the wordless emotion of TDSB better. It's the triumph of the Emperor; Luke is clearly not winning in this scene, and it's marvelous to watch and listen to.

Underrated? I can't go thirty seconds on this board without reading "I LOVE 'THE DARK SIDE BECKONS'!"

Well, maybe Vader turning on Palps tops it (I usually get up and cheer when that happens) but nothin else..

 

Indeed. ROTJ is probably my least favorite SW film, but those are two of the best moments of the entire saga.

 

It's a bit funny, how Obi-Wan and Luke seem to pull victory from the jaws of near-certain defeat in TPM and ROTJ. Both have scenes where they nearly fall to the Dark Side, and when they pull back, what happens to the Sith who nearly had them done for?

Owned.

But yeah, IMO The Dark Side Beckons/Darth's Vader's Death* are easily the high points of the entire saga. At first you're delirious with joy; then you're struggling to hold back tears.

*Weird, anyone else notice this spells DVD?

 

O dude, without a doubt it is the master of all SW music, Across the Stars *bows to the amazing job it does of telling the story better than the ****** dialogue*. Wow. Amazing. I think it can also apply to certain EU couples *coughJ/Jcough*...anyway, in the closest, CLOSESTS of seconds, is "Light of the Force" from ROTJ and "Binary Sunset" from ANH. They both have 'Obi-Wan's Theme', which is really an ode to all the fallen Jedi. O French Horn! How I love thee! (not to mention EBB whom I just paraphrased). God, is it just me, or does JW have a huge love for horns? I know I do, so that solo just brings me almost to tears every time I hear it. My brother plays horn, so every time i pick it up I have to play that solo...

O, and then there's the imperial march. And the stuff in the asteroid field from ESB. But we won't go there.
*waits for it* ahhh....there it is!!

EDIT: I'm a (marching band-even more hardcore) trumpet player, so all those double/triple tongues and huge drugs-above-the-staff attacks, and chromatic flights down and up and sideways never cease to amaze me either. It used to be my goal to be in the London Symphony Orchestra, just to play for SW...

 

Yeah, I think JW loves horns personally. After all, they've given us Imperial March and the Force Theme (which really needs to be done by a chorus, but I digress).

 

A choir? Could be, could be. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

 

Yeah, choral Force Theme is something that needs to make it's way into aROTS IMO.

Ep V: Carbon Freeze and Rescue from Cloud City and oh uh gee Imperial March.

Ep VI: The Battle of Endor II - includes the final fight between Vader and Luke./ Emperor's Death.

So many songs, so little time. Williams is a true maestro.
