We seem to have come to a fair consensus here that ROTLA and TLC are more enjoyable than TOD... I'm trying to think about why that is, and my summary is below...

Now, ROTLA in my opinion has very few bad characteristics, Marian is a great foil for Indy, as is Belloq as a villain, and John Rhys Davies as Sallah gives an incredible performance. The Nazis are credible as a threat and motivation because they're, well, Nazis. All in all, this is Indy at his least-stylized, most realistic, and freshest.

TOD comes along and you have Indy acting as an archaeologist-for-hire for the obviously dangerous and foreign Lao Che (who saw that one coming after the Indy we saw in ROTLA?), leaving with a lounge singer and a little kid. Both of whom are fine characters in their own right, I think, but the combination of genuine childishness from Short Round and childlike girlishness is a bad one. This is Indy stylized and played for laughs and shock value, and it doesn't work as well.

TLC is a funny movie, but it's also moving for the beleivability and poignancy of Indy and Henry's relationship as Indy ages. The acting is wonderful, and you can feel the danger and the concern father and son have for one another. Perhaps it strays into camp in some places, but it all fits together beautifully and you can actually learn something from this movie. Maybe most important of all, while it has action and exotic locations, an aging archaeologist and his scholarly father are hardly your iconic action heroes, and this makes all the difference.

I voted for ToD - I don't see why people didn't like the bond lady, she is so exaggerated it is just hilarious. (the "bed" scene is great) But all are very hugh level work. Young Indy, I did watch, when younger, I was. Some episodes, I did like, most not.

    Ll :)

Raiders. It's far and away the best, which is to say that it's film perfection. It's not that the others aren't good, it's that Raiders is on another level (it's essentially The Godfather of its genre).

Raiders then Last Crusade then ToD.

All of them are good, I would say that Raiders and TLC are great.

This is such a hard choice!

I LOVE the original, but I also LOVE Temple of Doom. I love how Lucas and Speilberg took a creative risk with that film in its darkness. Hard decision, in the end, I voted for ToD. Really suprised by the lack of votes it has recieved.

    Raiders of the Lost Ark

It would be 'The Last Crusade' because of the action sequences, but I don't really like the ending sequence. With King Arthur's Knight and stuff.

It would be cool if they searched for the Garden of Eden, since the Nazis would believe that if you eat of the Tree of Life, then you would have eternal life. They would find the Garden of Eden, eat of the Tree of Life, but then get slayed by an Angel with a Flaming Sword (the guardian of the Garden of Eden)

I say that is much better than finding the Hold Grail.

'Temple of Doom' is just plain retarded though.

Hard to say. I didnt like Temple of Doom much at all. Raiders was a damn good film, as was The Last Crusade (which I voted for, mainly because of Sean Connery).
