What is your favourite Star Wars movie?

The Empire Strikes Back.

But I really hate comparing them to each other. because I LOVE all of them more than I like any other movie.

 

For comparison to the poll results for favourite Star Wars film, here's the average ranking for the four Star Wars films in their individual polls:

The Empire Strikes Back (72 responses): 9.40

A New Hope (58 responses): 8.79

Return of the Jedi (81 responses): 8.17

The Phantom Menace (88 responses): 7.64

So A New Hope finishes higher than Return of the Jedi in the individual rankings, although RotJ has more fans who rank it first (this poll). Perhaps A New Hope is the most popular second choice of Star Wars fans.

 

When it comes out, I think Ep 2 will be my favorite actually.

But as of right now, it's ESB.

 

I think Beafett hit it on the nose. I really liked them in their order...but II and III are coming so who knows.

Return of the Jedi rules. Jabba is defeated. Leia looks great in a bikini and with her long hair. Luke is cool in black. Lando destroys the second Death Star. Palpatine is defeated. Vader is redeemed. The ending in the Special Edition is very good.

My favorite scene is when Yoda first meets Luke so ESB gets the nod.

ESB had it all. It's the only film in which everything came together. Sharp, exciting and deep, it's the best of the saga so far.

Memorable lines:

"Would it help if I got out and pushed? It might!"

"Sir, it's possible that this asteroid is not entirely stable. Not entirely stable? Well I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. Chewie, take the professor in the back and plug him into the hyperdrive."

"Impressive... most impressive."

And other lines as well.

 

I agree. My favorite scene of all the movies is from ESB. I love the whole dining room scene when Vader deflects the laser and pulls Han's gun. For me, ESB is the standard by which I rate other SW movies.

 

ESB. Everything changes. Leia and Han admit their feelings. Luke grows up. Vader is totally the MAN. On Dagobah, we learn all we do about the Force. The battle at the end is pretty cool, too. (However, the ROTJ scene where Luke skates the edge of the dark side is rather powerful and makes an argument for it.)

 

ROTJ

For the battle scene at Endor, and for the Han Solo run away from the shield generator, and the huge explosion even though they are like 50 metres away.

Never gets old

 

RotJ because of the story.
Best part of the series is the story. Although as I've said countless times over, AotC is looking to be my personal fav, but movie-wise RotJ still takes it.

Empire Strikes Back - not because of the popular reasons that it is "too dark" but that it is a better action flick as a whole. And almost exclusive use of human actors conveys better believe-ability, unlike ROTJ.

I don't care too much for ROTJ Jabba's dancers/Endor battle, but the confrontation/redemption of Vader/Luke is my favorite -piece- of the trilogy. But if I had to pick one movie, ESB anyday.

 

I voted for ANH. The original will always be my favorite!
