No "metal"? As a diehard AC/DC and Metallica fan, I must protest! :p

I voted for "rock". I like the Beatles and the Doors as much as the next person.

I voted other, because I'll listen to just about anything, but I listen mostly to bands that incorporate heavy synth rhythms.

    I picked, "Rock."

I listen to most everything asides from manufactured pop and country, but usually listen to most forms of rock (metal, alternative, etc.), especially classic rock.

Punk: Pennywise, The Vandals, Frenzal Rhomb, Area 7, Unwritten Law, the list goes on.

Interesting to note that people classify Sum 41 and Blink 182 as 'Rock', when its pop/punk. And someone had Live and Pearl Jam as Rock? Grunge, man, grunge, as in Pearl Jam being one of the creators of the 'Seattle Sound.'
And someone had AC/DC as metal? What the...

Metallica yes, although these days more like hard rock, but still kick-ass.

And techno/dance gets 1 category, whereas rock gets 3? There are way too many styles to pigeon hole them easily.
Like my favourite band are Grinspoon, who could be metal, punk, rock, grunge, alternative.
They themselves dont know, so how can we??

I didn't vote--mainly because I forgot to. I like pop. I don't buy it, but when it comes on the radio I don't hiss and hitch the seek button either. I like songs that are catchy and light, but also have a point.

As far as techno goes, I probably would have voted in that category. I actually don't like the techno genre, and I don't like house music either. I'm a trance fan; I favor the faster tunes (PVD is God) that literally make me dance until I feel like leaving my body (in other words--a trance). I also love drum 'n' bass (or jungle for those of you who refuse to let the term die).

Grunge is not a "type of music". Grunge music never existed and never will exist. It was a label created by the media to identify a new rock sound that was coming out. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden etc. never considered themselves a "grunge band". That term should never be used again.

I like rock...but not hard or heavy metal very much...soft rock is boring.

blink 182 classifies as a punk band I think, but a few of their songs are ok.

I like some pop...girl bands frighten me, boy bands annoy me, but some groups break through the thick wall I have built around me and steal their way into my heart. The bastards!!!
