And it *is* a political persuasion.
*grumbles* I'm a French socialist, but a Canadian told me once I was actually a revolutionary communist (une commnuniste révolutionnaire, sic) ; it must really depend on the way you see politics.
Where's Vertical? It wouldn't be a political thread without Vert showing us all why conservatism is and always will be better.
I'm a mild conservative. I believe in laissez-faire economics. And an Anti-environmentalist.
more liberal then moderate
"And an Anti-environmentalist."
So, what, do you go out of your way to kill trees or something? Litter because you're too lazy to go to a trashcan? Don't recycle?
Conservative. As for the environment, I'm waiting for it to kill us all off.
Green and socialist in political/economic beliefs, liberal-left in voting patterns, with votes split between Democrats and Greens.
I like animals and wildlife, but humans come first. I recycle but I like plastic grocery bags. I don't hunt but I believe endangered species should be allowed to die off. I dislike most activists even if I support their idea, and I really dislike people who want censorship and misinterpret the seperation of church and state.
I assume that "liberal" here means "left" and "conservative" right. And I always turn to the right Although I do have some radical economic and political ideas, I usually do not get along with people calling themselves "liberals" or "progressives" or "tolerant". Being in the middle serves nothing. Hence, conservative.
I'm about as conservative as conservative can get. I believe that government's role is to provide for people only that which they cannot provide for themselves (criminal justice, military defense, etc.). Also, that an armed society is a polite society, that low taxes and free trade benefit everyone, and that the slaughter of the unborn is a modern-day holocaust. The only issue that I'm not a traditional conservative on is the death penalty. I can't reconcile my adament pro-life stance with a position that advocates the state killing its own citizens.
Hey! I'm a Libertarian. And rather proud to be an 'odd misfit' Thank you very much
I'm a liberal US Democrat.
Whoever can do the best job and I agree with, that's who I vote for.
I don't care what party they belong to.
I'm very liberal.
Look at my sig and tell me what you think I am.
I was listening to a rant on the radio. If the liberals were right, the the following things should have happened already:
1) Ted Danson said in 1985 that the Ice caps would melt by 1990
2) Liberals said that over 100 acres of rain forest were being destroyed in the Amazon every second. Statistically, first it would require the US Air Force dropping more bombs on the Amazon then they did on Germany in WWII to destroy that much rain forest. ALso, the Rain Forest's would have been gone within two years. They ahve been saying that since at least 1986.
3) the Ozone Layer was supposed to be gone by the early 90's. They started saying that when I was in the 7th grade, which was in 84/85, atleast that was the first time I remember hearing about it.
4) All of the US national forest were supposed to get chopped down by evil timber companies by 1989
5) The Oil Company's were supposed to have over 100 Exon Valdez like spills between 89 to 91
This could go on and on. The funniest thing is all the left wing liberals that have attached their names to these causes still do, despite have been exposed as liars, but oh well.
Libertarian socialist aka anarchist, with syndicalist leanings. Which I suppose means liberal.
TripleB, where did you get that stuff? And you have to remember that ANY estimate is just that, an estimate that changes with variables that are constantly in flux.
And if you are taking anything scientific that comes from an actor's mouth as fact than you simply deserve to be disillusioned.
Uh, dude. ALot of that stuff can be found on the net. The fact is, Actors are regularly making STUPID statements about the enviroment, because they know that people are inclined to listen.
That has been going on for a long time now. I don't know how old you are. I can tell you that in 1983 or 84, was the first time I started hearing stupid stuff about how 100 acres of rain forest was being destroyed every second of every day. Or all the other stuff. Some of it I am going off memory, of seeing stuff on TV with the actors. I mention the Ted Danson one, because I remember seeing him say it on TV 14 years ago or so. The rest of it, liberals usually rally behind.
I am saying this as my means of discrediting liberals and actors. Has the ocean's dried up? Is the ozone layer gone? have the rain forests been wiped out?
I have an encyclopedia written in 1978-79, printed in 1980. It states that we ran out of cobolt in 1981, out of copper in 1984, out of gold in 1988, and out of oil in 1990 (!). It also states how everybody is equal and has full social and political rights in the Socialist countries, and that there they have solved most of the problems the West still suffers, and that more and more Socialist practices are adopted even by the Western countries. And all these things were printed as facts in an encyclopedia published in a democratic Western (though I disagree) country...
Ideology should not be mixed with truth.
While I agree that schools of thought can be labeled as "Liberal" or "Conservative", individuals should never never ever be labelled as Liberals or Conservatives because it detracts from their real views on the issues.
I really have no idea. When I turned 18 and filed my voter registration papers, the coin I flipped said I was conservative.
I AM A COMMUNIST. (MARXIST-LENINIST)
I'm swedish. I belive the next revolution will take place in the middleeast (Iran, Irac) or in America.
