Gaming Census What next-gen console are you getting?

My PS5 was cheaper than my PC and runs AAA games much better. Just sayin. I stick with PC for indie games or PC only ones.

 

I'll be going for a PS5, mainly because you can get a lot (or all?) XBOX games on PC anyway these days. Probably going to wait until I'm finished with uni, so another two years at least. I've only just bought my PS4 (had a few over the years but always sold them) and I've got a hell of a backlog so I'm fine waiting for now.

Definitely this. The games I’ve played on the PS5 so far look about as realistic as possible and run super smoothly. You’d have to spend so much money on a PC to beat it.

 

There's absolutely nothing wrong with gaming wherever you want to. I just personally like console best.

 

I built my first PC last year and still want both a PS5 and XBX/XBS. The xboxes I really would want more for 360/original titles and possible emulation (through the developer mode) than actual modern xbox titles though. I haven't been able to escape PlayStation since '98 and I think a PS5 will be worth it for me. Even if its just for exclusives.

 

PS5, no need for anything else.

 

Not even a Switch Pro or whatever dumber name it winds up using?

 

Super Switch is a possibility - though that Nintendo game prices don't tend to depreciate is off-putting.

Might plot to nab Series X instead.

That's more an indictment on your PC though.

 

I couldn't spend more money on the PC. Not everyone is rich.

 

I've been doing the ps one classic and SNES classic. Does that count? Hey it's sort of new.

 

i think i pretty much decided against any next-gen consoles. i'm happy with my ancient consoles and finally playing newer games on pc.

 

you can mod the classic systems. Or so I've heard.

 

Have you tried emulating the old consoles on PC?

 

yes! i have retroarch and also a separate n64 emulator that i'm using mostly for netplay with friends. i am still getting a kick out of collecting the physical old games though.

 

Whatever comes available to me at first. I work at a local Best Buy and I can tell you as soon as we get a shipment of PS5 and XBOX Series S/X in they are ordered online immediately. Every retailer that gets their hands on a next-gen console they cannot keep them in stock at all. But I am very close, I'll settle for the first one of the two competing next-gen systems that I can order.

 

Now that Xbox series x can play the steam apps which allows you to play pc games on the console, I want to get the console even more and I also wonder if other pc store apps sooner or later will be available too.

So far the Xbox series x is still sold out.

The steam app has a hell of a lot of Star Wars pc games both old and new.
