What or who is your favorite type of droid and why

I am wondering one everyone favorite droid or series of droid and why they like them, I enjoy the HK series because it spawned the Best Droid ever the one and only meat bag murdering nutcase Hk-47 or the OG droidika, The Soda Can Lr-57

 

There's a soda can droid? I like MSE droids and R2 units best.

Proxy from The Force Unleashed. Chiefly because you'd be able to spar against any Sith or Jedi saved to his databanks! Perfect sparring partner! Even if he was trying to kill you in the process.

 

There was something about the ancient war robots of Xim the Despot that grabbed me. They were ancient and largely forgotten, but they still did their duty even when it cost them their existence.

 

Basilisk war droids would be very handy in a pinch. Anyone who played the Wii/PS2 versions of The Force Unleashed knows they are no push overs against force users.

 

Yeah, it's really hard not to like R2 units. They're the MacGyvers of the Star Wars universe.

 

Gotta say, Love a certain Robotic serial killer HK-47, Gone but not forgotten!!

I'm surprised we don't see a lot more of them around in the Star Wars universe. These things would be very useful for a lot of purposes, like surveillance, security, warfare, etc. C-3PO would honestly be obsolete if you just had a translator bot that hovers instead of this unwieldy bipedal chassis that struggles to keep up with you.

 

These are great examples, very utilitarian. Not only have I enjoyed these droids in many a Star Wars game, but actually have a character in an RP that is constantly surrounded by many floating droids of various shapes and sizes.

As for C-3PO; it is well known that he is a 'diplomatic' droid, hence his bipedal and humanocentric/ humanoid appearance. He represents 'us' far better than 'floating orbs' would. So, until that time when we become 'floating orbs' ourselves, I do believe his series will be gainfully employed in the senate and other human diplomatic circles.

 

Let's discuss the sith assassin droid, aka Lightsaber droid or the Lightsaber toaster

It's a good read and it's an older book so you should be able to get a copy pretty cheap.
