    Here's a goofy one:

Scaramouche - the swashbuckler story about a cynical trickster pursuing a personal feud at the dawn of the French Revolution, having to undergo ridiculous training so he can actually sword fight well enough for his opponent...only to discover his rival is in fact his father or brother during th eclimactic sword fight.

I would expand it, though, to embrace the sheer lack of black and white morality of the entire French Revolution/Napoleonic period - I know the Anglophone world traditionally hates tackling the truly baffling amount of moral ambiguity in the period, but I'd love to see a French Revolution period where the inequity and incompetence of the Ancien Regime, the elation of the early revolution, the tension of the first years of war, and the paranoia, duplicity and betrayal of the Reign of Terror/White Terror/Directory/Consulate period... is ALL on screen. A world where the audience can admire and yet criticize Lafayette, Robespierre, Danton, and Napoleon all at once.

Make a film where a cynical pessimist *and* a romantic idealist could be engaged... maybe by making Scaramouche the main anti-hero, but making his brother more of a anti-hero as well, and force them to face the issues with their beliefs and philosophies - we like to highlight the extremists on the political spectrum killing people, but the centrists were doing the same thing!

In Logan's Run the people "regenerate/renew" when they turn 30 but the twist is they really die. Logan is a cop who chases people who "run" but when it is his turn he goes on the run himself.

The Island was sort of a Logan's Run reboot with a different twist.

But I am all in on a Howard The Duck remake. Just as long as they keep the perverted human-duck relationships in it.

I’d like to see a new, good adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s “Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

@ladygrey45 they have chips in their hands that change color. They then celebrate with a ceremony. They rise up to the ceiling and burst into light. It's hard to explain.

Reboots were fun when they first became a "thing" but now they're almost as witless as brain dead sequels used to be. Especially egregious are the reboots that are used as a kind of mulligan for a complete artistic failure -- see the upcoming The Suicide Squad.

I say it is time for a new Hollywood trend: the revert. Go back and pick up the continuity of a previous, abandoned iteration of a franchise. A Batman and Robin sequel and Spider-Man 4 should be first on deck.

EDIT: There absolutely should be a Harry Potter HBO series. The movies aren't just borderline nonsensical if you've never read the books; they're completely nonsensical.

    The Killer Shrews

I'd settle for the Star Wars musical that that high school did and then got shut down that was all reworded versions of songs from musicals.

The Fly, but the makeup effects are all CGI because that worked so well for The Thing (2011) and made it such a huge success.

I’d also like to give a little love to the Eric Stoltz sequel. While not perfect, I do still enjoy it.
