What was that movie?

Don't know much about it. It was about New York City being turned into one of many city/spaceships that were flying through the universe and the people living on it.

Does that make any sense?
Anyone know what I'm talking about? What was the name of the movie?

Have already tried IMDB, but no help there...

 

I know there was a book called Cities in Flight, written by James Blish. The wiki entry on Blish is here. It does mention that a film was in pre-production in 1979 but never materialized.

Edit - there were actually four books but they were collected into the one volume. (I have a copy somewhere - it's pretty good.) The wiki entry lists the titles of the individual books.

 

The only other film that could be remotely like that is Dark City, with Rufus Sewell. Not so much New York City, but definitely a city that is moving through space.

Seatle SciFi museum has a display with space ships from a wide range of TV and Movies. This was one of them.

 

To add to this, I have two films that have been bugging me for a very long time since I can't remember what they're called.

The first is about a competition to drive around the world from New York to Paris. I think there's a sword fight somewhere in Russia in a castle and they cross from Alaska to Russia on an iceberg. I think the villain has a black mustache. I saw it on TVO many years ago and have been wondering what it was called ever since.

The second is an animated film I saw a really long time ago. The only thing I remember clearly about it was that there were fairies in a giant forest and the villain was a guy with some rather monsterous machines designed to cut down the trees.

Help, anyone?

 

You speak of The Great Race, a classic comedy staring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Natalie Wood. Go out and rent it, it is very funny.

Edit: The animated film might be Princess Mononoke.

I thought so too, but I know it isn't because I watched Princess Mononke a few weeks ago and it didn't resemble what I remember.

Y'know, I'm kind of surprised that I remember it at all, since I saw it in class in either grade five or six.

 

I haven't seen it in more than 10 years, so I'm amazed I remembered it.

 

Now there's a name I've not heard in a long time.

 

I once watched a cartoon series.
The plot took place at the Kalahari desert.
The main villain of the series was Togun,somesort of masked african God.
I t always ende with the main hero puting something at a statue,and som God accepted it.

It wasnt black and white and thats sums it what i know about it.

I gues it was made in the 90s.

 

I once watched a horrible reality at Nicckelodeon.

It was about some chalenges for different teams,they were all kids{10-15}.

And the judge was Olmek,a big had,if i remeber correctly he was a God for a lost civilisation or something like that.

Any idea wich show was it?

I've got one for you guys. It's a science fiction piece, honestly couldn't tell you if it was a movie or a show. It was in colour, I'm guessing 70s or 80s.

The only thing I remember is that they had crystals that they got at a certain age (teens) that would turn one of a few colours. They were either stuck on their chests or on necklaces. They couldn't be with someone who had the same colour crystal because of increased risk of disease or mutation or something.... And I remember that one guy was VERY happy that some girl's crystal came out the same colour as his.

Any idea what that is?
