Agreed. The era was left dangling for a film or television project to pick up. Starting with only one film planned would be fine.

Just finished the last Clone Wars season. It was fantastic. Filoni should be in the Star Wars hall of fame. The franchise is in very good hands with Filoni, Taika, Rian Johnson and Favreau.

    Rian Johnson? Oh brother!

By the way, Favreau needs to learn how to tighten his writing a bit more. Especially for a television series with a serial format.

Some people like the guy. I don't get it but it doesn't mean fans of his SW deserve to be provoked into a row on here.

Can’t think of tighter writing than the Mando. About as lean as it gets.

It is perhaps noteworthy that, of the variety of directors for The Mandalorian, Rian Johnson wasn’t one of them.

I will say I found RJ’s work on Knives Out to be very enjoyable, his best film, far more than for TLJ.

He was really able to show off the strength of his writing and directing with that film. At times I think the same for TLJ, but it’s such an emotionally charged proposition entering the Thunderdome that is SW fandom.

A great cast in Knives Out as well. In the end I wanted Harlan Thrombey’s house!

I agree that all these people should be kept around as long as possible, particularly Filoni (the closest thing to a Lucas 2.0) and Favreau.

Filoni will be employed to making star wars until the day comes he must retire.

I keep thinking Filoni is some overly excited elvish looking man with a high pitched British accent who won't stop following George Lucas around.

that's funny as he's tolkien fan and elves are probaly his favorite of the species. I hope he introduces star wars version of the balrog and Morgoth. I wonder if there could be elves in star wars as they are in all fanrasy and sci-fi. Maybe the first jedi or sith was an elf.

I don’t get fan obsession with looking for a Lucas 2.0 there will only be one George like they’ll only be one Filoni

    Yep.
It’s my opinion that TLJ was by far the best of the ST and is right behind ROTJ at the #4 spot. It blew my mind and I saw it in theaters 10x. I really want to see that RJ trilogy.

I don’t want to rehash old flame wars. I posted the above statement so that post-apocalyptic digital archaeologists (or aliens) know that a sizable contingent of Star Wars fans really really liked TLJ, they’re just not as vocal about it.

OK, we get it. You liked TLJ for this or that reason. That has little or nothing to do with Taika Waititi.

When 900 years an elf is, look as good they will n... actually, a 900 year elf would probably look much better. Your reasoning is intact.

Judging by the postponement of Celebration to 2024, it seems as if the 2022 movie is effectively cancelled, which means Taika’s movie will be the next live action SW release.:)
