I see your point. Thing is most of us have been clouded by the nostalgia (Falcon, Han/Chewie, TIEs, etc) but not realize that the movie may just flat out suck. Like even PT level suck.

Boyega could even turn out to be the Jake/Hayden of the movie - someone who was horribly miscast.

Who knows. We just have to wait and see.

 

The thing is, it's a mashup of genres. It's a western, a fantasy, a samurai film, a pulp science fiction tale and more. But it is very much cut from the same cloth as the western genre (which IIRC Lucas called the last great American myth--he was trying to make the next): homesteaders on the frontier, battling the angry natives (Tatooine), men on their trusty steeds scouting out a barren landscape (Hoth), bounty hunters out to capture a fugitive... Clearly the western motifs are integral to SW.

 

Keanu Reeves is revealed to be a member of a group of Jedi that were banished for disgracing their master and their people. But have Awakened the Force to return and reclaim their honor.

 

Just watched the movie 'Man of Tai-Chi' with Keanu Reeves and Matrix fight choreographer Tiger Chen.

If the crawl or DVD boxart doesn't include Episode VII.

 

I may have mentioned something like this before, but if Han says something like "I ALWAYS shoot first!", I may not get up and leave, but the huge noise of idiot fanboys cheering will definitely "take me out of the moment".

I'd probably walk out if the filmmakers accidentally switched the text colors. The "Long Time Ago" prologue and end credits are supposed to be blue and the title crawl is supposed to be yellow NOT the other way around. It's a small detail but an important one.

 

That, or "I happen to like to shoot first".

 

I get the strange feeling we may get a Han shooting first joke. I'm just trying to brace myself for it.

- Blubbery, unconvincing CGI characters.

- Every main character is a freakin' teenager.

Thankfully, though, I believe we're safe from all of these with regards to "The Force Awakens".
