When do Yoda and Obi-Wan discover that Anakin/Vader survived Mustafar?

If this isn't covered already, it should be in some EU form.

Obi-Wan left Anakin thinking he was dead/dying very soon?

    Right?

What does Obi-Wan tell Yoda when he lands with dying/pregnant Padme?

"I left Anakin legless and burning. He's dead. Oh and by the way, he knocked up Padme and she's about to give birth to his child..."

Does Yoda think of a "plan" for the twins right then?

At somepoint they have to found out that Vader survived and is back killing and stuff. But according to the end of ROTS they think Anakin/Vader is dead...right?

So they originally went into hiding plus hiding the twins so they could raise the twins to kill Sidious?

Then when they realize Vader is still alive, only THEN do they realize how they will "save" Anakin through the will of his children.

Kind of makes that line from Obi "the emperor knew as I did if Anakin had offspring they would be a threat to him..." a little different?

    Thoughts?

I don't see them changing the plan. The kids are needed to put an end to the Sith domination, by taking out Palpatine. Most likely, Obi-wan, despite being out in the Dune Sea, does periodically go to town for supplies and news. Vader, as Palpatine's right-hand man, would make news periodically.

I don't think that Yoda or Obi-wan wanted to use the kids to save Anakin, but once they realized he was still alive, they realized he must also be stopped. Remember, Luke is the only one who advocates saving Vader. in ANH, Ben went off to kill vader, not save him. and in jedi:

YODA: One thing remains: Vader. You must confront Vader. Then, only then, a Jedi will you be.
(says nothing about trying to save Vader, but confront him)

LUKE: There's still good in him.
BEN: He is more machine now than man. Twisted and evil.
(sounds like Ben has given up on Vader's chance of redemption)

LUKE: I can't kill my own father.
BEN: Then the Emperor has already won.
(implies that Ben wants Luke to kill Vader)

nope it sounds like after ROTS, the plan is to raise the kids to stop Palpatine. once they figure out that Vader is still alive, stopping Vader is also part of the plan.

Indeed he does. Inside the Worlds of Star Wars mentions that Ben travels to Mos Eisley to hear the latest exploits of his former Padawan.

Doesn't say anything about killing him either ;)

Last of the Jedi jives with this too.

Last of the Jedi has Obi-Wan seeing Darth on a datarecorder he finds in an alley on Mos Eisley. He knows instantly that it's Anakin. It also states that he originally thought he'd killed him, but "months later" he realizes what happened.

He knows instantly that it's Anakin.

Of course he does. Don't Yoda and Obi-Wan learn the name Darth Vader from the security recordings?

News get to them. Im not sure when but they have to figure it out. If i was them i wouldnt count Vader dead till I had his head on my desk. But they did so that makes u wonder, what was the first thought in thier head when they heard it.

I don't think there was anything to figure out. Within a short time after the battle on Mustafar, Obi-Wan or Yoda here about some Imperial commander named Lord Vader, and that would pretty much do it I would think.

Just because he lives like a hermit does not mean he has no technology. He probably took a ship there. He can probably "log in" to the holonet or some such every once in a while. Also, I would assume that he and Obi-Wan would be able to contact each other in the case of an emergency or urgent situation, which the reappearance of Vader would count.
