I think by common consent JKR said its located in Southern Scotland. Dumfries and Galloway would be my bet.

I thought that scenes from Hogwarts were actualy filmed in Oxford.

 

Probably. I don't care where they were filmed though, JKR says it's in Scotland, thats good enough for me

Although how they think Oxford can replicate Scotland I've no idea. They should have filmed it at Fort William or somewhere cool like that. Maybe have the lake in the grounds as Loch Lomond or Loch Ness

 

No matter where it is, Hogwarts enviroment is beautiful.

By the way, does anyone know where Lucas filmed Lake Country on Naboo? Or is it made by computer?
