Because I work closely with the press team at work, I'm required to read the whole spectrum of the British press, including all the gutter rags. It's a pain in the **** now I work from home... all paid for by work but I end up with a mountain of newspapers to recycle at the end of each week.

In terms of international news, I used to be quite good about reading english language newspapers from across the globe (I worked as a copy editor for the Lebanon Daily Star in Beirut for a few months in the late '90s and got into the habit after that) but these days I care less about what's going on in the world and mostly rely on mainstream sources like the BBC and Reuters, along - frankly - with my facebook feed.

Sarge, that's a good hat, I'd subscribe to his newsfeed!

It must be a sign of the times that Forbes and the Wall Street Journal are being called "cesspools of liberalism." They were certainly considered conservative sources in the 80s and 90s.

What non-alt-right source would NOT warrant that moniker now?

It has nothing to do with the times and everything to do with Forbes and WSJ being liberal. The actual definition of liberalism.

Forbes and WSJ have been economically liberal as far back as the 90s. I don't know about before then. Didn't read them in the 80s.

Not everyone has the intellectual rigour, blindness to the past and ignorance of capitalism that Socialist Worker Daily has, Cliché Guevara. :p

When you 'ignore' people on the boards, every now and then you're presented with what appears to be a strange non sequitur.

If anything, wire services and The Wall Street Journal. I never went back to the New York Times for anything except their food section after the whole fake story scandal from the early aughts.

    New Junkies!

What do you guys all use as your main news source?

I particularly use CNN, BBC, The Guardian, Chicago Tribune, LA Times.

I've found myself reading a lot more since I started a News Aggregation/Summarize service.

Basically my buddy and I are reading all the news we can (We use RSS feeds) and then taking out all of the opinion/fluff/bias in the news and re-writing the news without this fluff.

Wire services are usually the best for receiving the cold facts without analysis. Of course, there's also every possibility of bias in that too, as what facts you leave out are just as important as what you include. But it's the closest there is to absolutely neutral news, which IMO is an ideal that even those who earnestly strive for can't fulfill.

It really is hard to decide what should/shouldn't be in a story. Much harder than I imagined when I started doing it.

Mind checking out what I am working on and letting me know how you think we are doing regarding balance/neutrality?
