    Author’s note:
“A Trek/SW crossover in Beyond featuring an ensemble cast for SW but focusing mostly on Han/Leia and Luke/Mara.

I want there to be a serious threat: either Sithly or Vong, whichever the author decides works best.

The Trek character I want to help resolve the crisis is an interdimensional character called Q. He can manipulate the timestream in very unusual ways.

A page with character info is:

    https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Q

The tone of the fic can be hilarious or serious or both.”

I watched a lot of Trek in preparation for @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha’s dare and stumbled across the episode “Hide and Q” in the first season. This is only the first installment, but it does fit the dare.
    ——
Han’s first impression was that the ship was too clean—Imperial-grade sterile. Second, it hit him that he couldn’t read the old-fashioned printed sign plastered on the wall in front of him.

Third was that Leia’s scream brought a lot of people in unfamiliar uniforms to the hallway they’d dropped into. Reverting to a suspicious mindset, he stepped in front of her and raised his hands to show he wasn’t planning on shooting anyone. Luke kept his saber on his belt, but didn’t raise his hands. After a moment, Leia let out a sharp, irritated breath and straightened to her full height.

The officers in black and yellow apparently saw her regaining her composure as a threat and leveled tools the size of a hold-out blaster at her nose. Han did the only rational thing and swept his left arm across the nearest man’s midline to knock the thing aside and followed it up with a cross-punch to the jaw. That got him a knee to the back that sent him sprawling, but he could see a dark-skinned man with ridges to rival Cereans waving for the others to lower their weapons.

“Worf to the bridge,” he said loudly after tapping his chest emphatically. After a response, Worf continued his conversation with thin air. “Three unauthorized individuals have been transported to our current position.”

Han opened his mouth to protest two of those claims, but Leia’s hand closed over his wrist. She was still breathing hard, but the shock of their sudden relocation had been overridden by her ambassadorial side.

“I am Leia Organa-Solo, Princess of Alderaan and envoy of the New Republic,” she recited her credentials. “And we come in peace. Here…”

Following her lead, the “unauthorized individuals” all disarmed, but the orders from the bridge only meant that they were going to be politely taken into custody. That was what diplomacy got you, but at least it got you lowered weapons. One of Worf’s officer’s collected two lightsabers and a blaster and followed them at a brisk trot.

“Three,” Luke murmured to Leia. “Four of us left.”

“I don’t know,” she hissed back. “He said we might have different purposes, but I’m sure—“

“I know you’re sure, but I can’t find my wife in the Force and four of us left.”

Leia gave one of her rare shrugs, but Han noticed her hands ball into fists. “I’m sorry I can’t give you more than a personal feeling,” she said, “but we’ve all lost someone at the moment and it might JUST be at the moment.”

That didn’t help Han’s own rattled nerves, but there was nothing he could do until they took the advice of some idiot god to “consult the experts.”

They had only been in the conference room for a minute when a balding older man with the Admiral Ackbar air of authority strode in and bowed to Leia, since she’d been the only one to give a rank. The bearded officer who followed him followed suit, but gave all three of them a suspicious once-over.

“I am Captain Jean-Luc Picard, commander of this vessel,” he said before taking a seat. “This is my first officer, Commander William Riker. How did you come to be here?”

    So much for diplomatic courtesy.

“That is a complex question,” Leia said. “We didn’t, and yet we have traveled through space.”

“Yes, but we had no indication of a transporter event before your arrival,” Picard said. “We would like to welcome envoys of the…did you say New Republic?” At her nod, he smiled affably. “We would like to extend every courtesy to you and your men, but an invitation is customary.”

Leia flattened her palm against the table to release the tension Han had noticed earlier. Her expression remained impassive, but he was glad he couldn’t hear her thoughts. “We did not come to be here. We were sent here in an instant by someone who said you were experts.”

    “And who might that—“

    “Q.”

Picard had kept his posture straight enough for military inspection, but he looked slightly punctured a second later. Riker swung a leg over the back of another chair and sat heavily.

“We’ve met,” Picard muttered. “I might have known.”

“But he was supposed to steer clear of us after that business with the Napoleonic wars,” Riker protested.

“He said you might say that,” Han interjected. “Han Solo, captain of a completely different vessel and Leia’s husband. He says it’s another Q and there’s a loophole for non-Terragenic humanoid species.” At an impatient look from Riker, he shrugged. “You think I’d make that up?”

“So, another Q,” Riker said, stroking his beard thoughtfully. “It makes sense, but why us?”

“I’ve been asking that for years, Number One,” Picard sighed.

“Look,” Luke finally interjected, “there were four of us sent here and only three made it to this conference room. You’re sure you didn’t miss someone?”

“My brother Luke,” Leia identified him. “The someone missing is his wife Mara, so you can imagine that we’re not exactly here on a social call.”

“If this new Q is anything like his fellow,” Picard considered, “he may be testing all of you individually. We only observed the arrival of three, but if you have a picture for reference, our crew can be on the lookout.”

Luke folded his arms in a passable imitation of a certain Corellian pilot. “I didn’t have time to pack and if she has concerns for her safety, there’s a good chance she won’t be found. She was a covert operative for years.”

“But if anyone gets knocked flat on their backsides by a redhead, chances are it’s her.”

That earned him a glare from both of the Skywalkers and an unamused look from the officers. At least he hadn’t mentioned the history of assassination.

“Wait,” Riker said after just a second. “Testing. One of them split off. Captain, the business with the Napoleonic wars—“

“You think Mara is in a penalty box?”

“It might be.” Riker leaned forward, clasping his hands on the table. “Did Mara do anything to offend Q or…Q?”

“I don’t remember us doing anything,” Luke argued.

“It could have been a choice, not an action,” Picard added. “When we first met Q, he was judging us for the depravity of our entire species.”

“Our peoples have their own history of brutality,” Leia admitted. “My first war was against the Empire, but it was hardly the beginning of what you might call depravity. And hardly the last.”

“But he brought up the last.”

It was the first time they had stopped to collect their wits since the Falcon was suspended in some kind of net between worlds. And suddenly, Han found himself remembering a very unusual part of that conversation.

“He was going to bring them back,” he said.

“The Klingons?” At their blank looks, Riker explained, “You fought against the Empire.”

“The Galactic Empire,” Han corrected. “What the hell are Klingons?”

“Former foes of ours, but you met one when he apprehended you.” Picard’s smile, driven off by the discussion of Q, reappeared. “Lieutenant Worf is one of the best men I know of any species.”

If they were the former bad guys, Han was glad he’d had the luck to punch a human instead.

“Q was going to bring back the Galactic Empire?” Picard prompted.

“The last enemy we faced,” Han said. “We just lost hundreds of trillions in the Vong wars and he said he could bring them back.”

Leia’s hand reached over to take his and Luke looked away.

“We lost hundreds of trillions of lives, our youngest son included,” Leia said. “It changed all of us and when I thought of what I would lose the next time…”

“I thought of the war when a dark lord was our greatest threat,” Luke said.

“I thought about what it was like when I didn’t have so much to lose,” Han confessed. “But I never said—“

“This is a Q,” Picard responded. “They understand an inconveniently great a much of what you never said. You all responded to the threat of your most recent enemies with an alternative path in mind and you were brought here based on those paths.”

Leia pulled her hand free of Han’s tightened grip, looking more than a little sickened. “For what purpose?”

“Testing,” Riker echoed Picard. “When he offered me the power of a god, I could grant the deepest desires of my friends’ hearts. I decided it wasn’t for me.”

Great, so two mystics and a retired god were on the case.

“But those weren’t our deepest desires,” Luke insisted. “They were panic responses. And it doesn’t explain where my wife is.”

“She may be on the path of her own panic response,” the bearded officer said. “Or she might be part of the test, too.”

“Then, what do we do?” Luke asked after a long minute of trying to find that reassuring.

Picard stood, looking resolved and a little bit relieved. “We have someone on board who has counseled me in alternate realities in the past.”

Riker nodded. “I think you’re right,” he said. “Before we do anything else, we all need a stiff drink. To Ten Forward!”

If these were the experts, they were doomed.

A great mix of Star Trek and Star Wars with all of my favorite characters. Q and Q are busy.
    Waiting for the next chapter.

Superb beginning. All the 'voices' are spot on. =D= You have Q's machinations and motivations nailed as well.

Eager for more and thanks for tackling this great crossover.

@earlybird-obi-wan I was just old enough to get into Star Trek when TNG came out and Worf was my favorite, followed by Riker. Yet I really haven’t written this crew. Thanks!
@WarmNyota_SweetAyesha Lol, I’m so glad you’re enjoying this. My brain struggled with finding a plot that didn’t channel “Somehow, Palpatine returned.” And then my brain went with “Somehow? Hello! Q is behind it!” Not quite where I’m going, but unimaginable turmoil is his Monday night football. All Good Things is such a great episode… Ah, who am I kidding? I hate to see Q outmaneuvered, but the episodes are always interesting.
@Vek Talis thanks! I was literally trying to think of how individual crew would react to a Q plot and I HAD to include Jonathan Frakes’ delightful way of sitting down.

A trip down memory lane!! I haven't seen any ST in a very long time, but I must have seen every episode of TNG and DS9 back in the day.

*imagines Q and Palpatine battling it out*

OK, so you have to keep writing this. I want to see how it turns out.

To start, I have to applaud you for tacking such a tricky dare - it's not an easy thing to work with a crossover element, but so far I'd say you're pulling it off with aplomb! =D=

I do love how true to character this was for both Han and Leia. Leia's not one to let her shock overwhelm her in a potentially dangerous situation, and of course she resorts to her diplomatic training. While Han is - well, Han. :p

And, speaking of Han! I got a kick out of your title too. =D=

I very much approve of this description of Picard. [face_love]

    Yep, that's definitely how they'd react. :p

    [face_laugh] [face_laugh]

    WELL THEN

That definitely fits the largescale threat element of your prompt - in quintessentially Q fashion - though I'm now very curious as to how you're going to work in the resolving of that crisis. [face_thinking]

    [face_laugh]

Stiff drinks first - which is a form of wisdom all its own :p - and then the expert-ing can hopefully commence. [face_tee_hee]

Thank you for participating in the challenge, and for sharing your work with us! =D=

Ah, the Riker maneuver! I knew you'd have such good attention to detail! Anyway, excellent start. Everyone is spot-on. A different Q than the de lancie version? I'm intrigued.

Ooh, neat setup, and great job with the voices of both the Wars and the Trek characters! I love Han’s thoughts about and reactions to these Other Folks; I definitely understand the Enterprise-D being much too clean and sanitized for his liking. :p And bringing these two universes together very much sounds like something Q would do! (Though part of me is also going, “Aaack! There are two of them!” A singularly scary thought! :p ) These two Qs clearly have a well-thought-out plan in mind that may be of great help to both universes; I’m curious to find out what it might be—and where the heck is Mara? Great start and great work rising to the challenge of this dare; crossovers are tough, but you’re pulling it off! =D=

Where no HAN has gone before?? The title itself is already brilliant and now we need Han in Star Trek immediately [face_laugh]

The best Han judgement of a ship!

I love this mesh up of Star Wars and Star Trek---it totally seems something that could happen and how they got there in an alternative universe.

I'm here for a review at long last, and before I say anything else I want to note that I love the title!

It's been a long, long time since I watched any Trek at all, but I do remember one of the episodes with Q, and this bears all the hallmarks of the zaniness he (or another Q, apparently) would inflict on people. I love how we get to see the scene through Han's POV and all of his musings about the Trek 'verse, from the ship being squeaky clean to the fact that Picard has the "Admiral Ackbar air of authority". And this:
... sums up the collision of the two universes in a single sentence. Clearly, neither Han nor Riker can make sense of what the other is saying or thinking (mind you, I'm not entirely sure what Han thinks he's saying either :p )
    [face_laugh]
    [face_rofl] [face_rofl] [face_rofl]

I think Han has spent too much time around Threepio!

I'm very curious to see where this story will be going. If the Vong are to manifest in the Trek 'verse, it's going to be an interesting moment for everyone!

Oh, this is really cool! I'm not nearly as well-read on Star Trek lore but I'm aware of Q and can definitely see him being the catalyst for a crossover between these universes if he felt like it. It's very entertaining to see the Star Trek world through Leia and the others, and them through the eyes of the crew -- it really brings home the similarities but also the stark contrasts in their spacefaring civilizations.

That is definitely at least a start, though I can imagine it was no easy thing to do. I like that we get to see Leia's diplomatic skillset take over here. :leia:

"Experts" is a very intriguing way of putting it, and I am curious to see what it is that Q thinks they need to learn from Picard and company, if that was what he meant by it. [face_thinking]

 Yes, I would imagine that Mara is not thrilled to be dumped into another universe separate from everyone else, if she knows that's what has happened yet. That is definitely going to be a challenge if she isn't found (or doesn't find them) pretty soon.

Oh boy. That would definitely NOT be good. The worry that they all have about that possibility is really well-portrayed.

:p Can't blame him for thinking so. I really enjoyed Han's thoughts on the situation throughout. (And yeah, the title is perfect! [face_laugh])

This was thoroughly enjoyable! You found everybody's voices right out of the gate, and made them work so smoothly together in a traditional TNG briefing room chat whilst retaining the unique qualities of Star Wars and Star Trek dialogue patterns. I liked how they all didn't immediately get along or trust one another, despite everybody being the best of both worlds (pun semi-intended). Really highlighted the differences between the franchises, but also touched upon the similarities. That's a tricky balancing act I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to attempt. :) Excellent scene! Thanks for sharing!
