Which episode has the best opening scene(s) ?

ANH will always be the best for me simply because it is one of my first memories as a child. I was only 2 at the time and some may say that it isn't possible to remember that stuff but I sure can remember sitting next to my dad and having that Star Destroyer rumbling over head. The rest are just details, but here they are -

Ok I just did the endings, so now the beginnings:

ANH is the best. The view where the underbelly of the Star Destroyer engulfs the camera is awesome. A great shoot-out occurs and we see big daddy DV emerging from smoke. Where are those transmissions you intercepted? What have you done with them? We're doomed!

AOTC is second best. Tilt up. Upside down flipping Naboo cruiser and escorts. Approaching landing platform in all those clouds. Then bang! Explosion knocks one starfighter off platform. Awesome! "BANG!" That's the only qoute you need to sum it up.

TPM is third best. The republic ship coming at the camera and the camera follows it as it approaches TF ships. All the droids turning their heads as the ship settles in the docking bay. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon turning around and pulling back their hoods. It's elsewhere...elusive.

ROTJ is the fourth best. Imperial Shuttles are awesome. Second Deat Star has an awesome look as well. Perhaps we can find new ways to motivate them. The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am.

ESB is the fifth best. Probe droids are creepy. Han and Luke talking over the comlink. There's not enough life on this ice cube to fill a space cruiser.

I just tought that AOTC had more action scenes when the movie began like when the spaceship exploted. TPM also started with some good action right in the begining.

Here are mine! Hope I'm not too late :-

1.) Star Wars - It's such a great way of starting a film, and really makes it feel as if you're slam bang in the middle of a story, which is the same trick Steven and George would use in the Indy films.

2.) Attack of the Clones - I think I rather like the pan up, as it's nice and different, and I love the buildings just poking up above the clouds. And the explosion is so sudden, it really did make me jump the first time I saw it!

3.) Empire Strikes Back - A little quieter than the others, but still very menacing and effective, and I like the banter between Luke and Han, too.

4.) Return of the Jedi - I had a tough time deciding between this or The Phantom Menace, but in the end, I went for this opening, as I love the feeling of fear the Imperials have as Darth Vader shuttle arrives. Mind you, the film does go downhill a bit from there!

5.) The Phantom Menace - Although it's my least favourite film of the Saga, I do rather like the opening sequence, with the fear the Federation have for Darth Sidious and the Jedi nicely reflecting the opening of Return of the Jedi. But unfortunately, the silly accents of the Neimodians do ruin it for me, a bit.
